Was feeling homesick, and found this video. Haven't seen such high quality footage of the island until now. Thanks!

Hi Jordan, such a nice comment, thank you very much. It is such a beautiful place on this Planet. And yes, the quality, it is amazing, what a small Cam (here Gopro 6) can do in 4k and 60 fps. I was so glad having my drone with me. There will be another Part, I think the last one in some weeks.

I'm really glad you got to have such a wonderful experience seeing the whales. They come in to our harbour swimming right in front of my house a couple of times a year and it is a beautiful sight.

In case you haven't already, I highly recommend you book a whale watching trip out of Campbell River, on the east coast of the island. You'll likely find yourselves amongst the many islands between here and the mainland, where the channels are narrow and sheltered unlike the exposed west coast. On a calm day, and between tidal changes, the water can be as smooth as glass, and so the setting makes for a completely different experience. Your videography will improve too, as you wont be rocked around by waves so much. In the maze of narrow channels, it sometimes it feels like you're sitting in a lake, and the calm water offers spectacular viewing of the animals if they happen to swim under the boat. Perhaps best of all, you won't get seasick.

Thank you for the nice tip. But unfortunately no trip to VI is planned for the next years, but you never know. When surely come back with a better big cam with better stabi.

      Hahahaha
I was going to say that on his first video of the series.
But since he did such a marvelous job, I'll give him a pass on this one.
Gunter, you need to come back in the winter for the storm watch.
To see the incredible raw power of the pacific in action is awe inspiring.
Thank you for your correction about forestry in BC.
I just recently retired after a long career in forestry.
Next year when you come back, and we have that promised drink together, I will tell you some of my whale stories and others about living on the coast for the last 60 years.

    • @area28
      @area28  6 років тому +1

Hey Brian, so where is my pass? Haha, good, thank you very much. Your welcome for my correction. Oh I would like to return to the Island, but I don't know right now, if this could happen in the next future. But if, may be you have a hint for me to rent a ...oh how do you call it - caravan oder camper mobil - that would be the best way for me. So if I come back we will have a (or some) beer - best regards Gunter

Amazing footage here. Wow. I've been on 1 whale watching tour and it was unbelievable! We saw about 90 or so Orca's, A pod of them swam right underneath our boat, and we saw a family of humpbacks. I have content posted from that trip, unfortunately I did not have the set up then so my footage is not as amazing as yours here but still very beautiful so see.

    • @area28

Thank you very much - so you were also lucky to see that wonder. It was difficult to film the whale with the big cam and 500mm Zoom freehand, a gimbal would have been perfect. But anyway it was such a great experience.

Ok, I understand. Sometimes we fly near Bonn or most of the time I am going to the Mosel, its 1:30 form my place away. If you are interested I could take you one time with me, some Pilots offer Tandemflight for money, I only fly alone.
