- The Shonan Monorail is a fun monorail to watch and ride. It follows narrow roads, climbs steep hills, runs through tunnels, and goes places that conventional railroad would not fit. This video shows the monorail route from the Shonan-Enoshima Station to Ofuna Station. There is a time-lapse cab view at the end.
This video follows the monorail southbound, while my first video follows the monorail northbound.

Fascinating video. It looks very heavily engineered, but it has succeeded in creating a public transport system without interfering with existing thoroughfares or using too much land.

Very nice documentary of this interesting monorail system, thanks for sharing! It reminds me a lot of my Enoshima+Kamakura trip in 2013 when I also had the chance to ride this line.
But wow, the perspective at 6:23 looks still dangerous, even if there are fences^^
I agree! I was really surprised when I stumbled on this section of track. It seemed as if I could jump and hit the train with my hand (I never tried so I don't know if it's possible!). I believe people are more trusting in Japan that people won't go out of their way to be stupid around infrastructure and trains and won't get hurt.
