The idea of creating eighties style versions with current artist successes is extremely creative and intelligent. I liked very much! It feels so good to feel the energy and vibe of the eighties again, even when the lyrics belong to another song recorded years later. S2
Luckily the studios have cracked down on it with DMCA takedowns or lawsuits. It is embarrassing to have some person on UA-cam make a better version of your product.
I remember when this song came out in 85. It was played at the prom and me and my now wife danced the night away. It was amazing. Only if the kids of this generation knew what real music is.
May 1985. Last dance of the school year. 16 year old me finally getting up the courage to ask Rosalie to dance. What started as awkward teenage hormones running rampant turned into the love of each other's lives. We're still together. Thank you, Ellie. For what it's worth, Roe hates that cover version by what's-her-name that's on the radio now, but our daughter loves it.

Cyndi Lauper penned this for a concept album that she never got to record. One day at Crescent Moon studios in Miami, while recording her new album, Ellie came across the music sheet and lyrics and played the song impromptu on the piano. That day Cyndi was visiting Gloria Estefan at the studios to co-write some songs and stumbled upon Ellie singing this. So impressed was Cyndi that she bestowed the song to Ellie. This won best song at the Oscars 1986.
This takes me back to the glorious days back in elementary school in 1985 when this song first came out. I remember this little quirky blonde girl named Heather came up to me during a school dance and asked if I wanted to dance to this song. I laughed at her and yelled to her to fuck off. I was a little prick at the time and enjoyed other artists like Aerosmith and Def Leppard, and was kind of a rebel who liked picking on others. I kept bullying Heather for most of middle school, along with other schoolmates, until highschool when I moved out of state for my father's work. I did not return to my hometown until years later after finishing college, and wondered whatever happened to her. I happened to come across her at a local gas station, not far from my new house. She was beautiful, far from that little nerdy girl who wore no makeup, used glasses and kept her hair up. She looked stunning, with no glasses, her beautiful blonde hair flowing freely, wearing a gorgeous white summer dress. We talked for a bit and then I asked her to go for coffee and talk about the good old days. I apologized profusely since I had changed completely and regretted all I did. We talked all night that night and soon became really good friends. Two years later I proposed to her and in December of 2002 we got married, we were now on our late 20s. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with family and friends who couldn't believe we ended up together, and we consummated our love that night to this same song. It was the happiest moment of my life. Heather died from cancer on April of 2014, and I miss her every day with all of my heart. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of that day at school and how mean and disgusting I was to her during those early years. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of how she is not longer with me, and how I never could apologize enough for those horrible things I said. Now I just cry every time I hear this song and wish I could go back in time to elementary school and have that first dance with my Heather.
This played at my prom in 1986. The theme was Under the Stars. My date was Bucky Reynolds. Someone spiked the punch and we all got drunk, and i ended up ripping my brand new Gunne Sax dress. It was pink and had a giant bow at the back! Oh, the 80's.

In 1985, I was riding my BMX while listening to a song on my ghetto blaster. It was raining heavily, and my mind was filled with thoughts and flashbacks from my prom night. I was upset that my crush was leaving for college, so I decided to visit her. I held up my blaster and played the same song. Suddenly, she ran outside barefooted and kissed me passionately in the rain. It was a magical moment that I will never forget.
This song was huge in 1985. #1 for a lot of weeks in the charts. It was from the movie "Fifty Shades of grey", a huge box office hit that year because of this song. This and the "Power of Love" are great songs from that period.
this made me cry. i remember how my grandmother and grandfather always talked about how they played this song at their wedding in 1878. now they are both in heaven and i hope they'll be happy seeing me enjoying their wedding song. ellie is such a legend back then.
This was the orgy song of my poly pod way back on Caprica 80 years before the Cylons attacked the Twelve Colonies. Truly a timeless work of human pathos.
I always loved Ellie's voice but felt like pop music didn't show her potential. 80's music definitely fits her voice and i hope more songs are made with her voice because she is glowing here!
I don't know how you did it or how the others 80'sfied our current music, but it has even turned songs I dislike into songs I love. It's hilarious. I do have some feedback. I feel the drums are a bit loud. Aside from that it's perfect! Thanks for sharing
Agreed on the drums... I had to select "Movie" equalization on my Soundbase just to get them to calm-down, so it'd sound more like RIAA equalization was used in the day.
Thanks for the feedback! A few folks have commented that the drums are a bit too loud. I tried to "beef" them up a bit by adding a bit of compression, but I think I went a bit overboard. At some stage I'll probably replace them entirely with a slightly softer drum track.
This sounds like what you'd hear at the movies as you're filing in before the previews, during the trivia questions you never cared about. It's a doorway to a time you never thought you'd care about, either... but suddenly, for some reason, those stupid, forgotten moments mean everything to us. Edit: and for the record, this remix sounds gorgeous and I love it.
They played this song at our prom in 1987! I remember that day like today . My and my then boyfriend slow danced together… he has 5 kids and married to an accountant now 😅
Throwback inbound! Ah, this takes me back- The year was 1986. I was on my first date with my girlfriend back in Baltimore. I picked her up in my all black '76 300D Mercedes, real neck breaker. We went down to Hammerjacks on a friday night to unwind from a long work week. After we wore ourselves out dancing the night away, we retired to Great American Melting Pot [or "Gampy's" as we called it in the day]. I ordered her a 8 ounce steak, mac n cheese with a lemonade- and myself a Monte Cristo with mountain dew. What a night it was for us. About halfway through the remainder of the night at Gampy's, Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" started playing on the speakers above. Time seemed to just come to a halt. I looked beside me, and something came over me- and she was all I saw at that moment. Her soft but wavy hazelnut hair, her baby pink nails and deep atlantic eyes, everything about her just seemed to glow. She looked up at me with this warming smile that melted me like an otter pop freezie in the middle of the summer heat. "Yes, can I help you?" She laughed. I just gazed blankly into her eyes with this deep passion I couldn't rid myself of. She just sort of tilted her head in confusion and I slowly leaned in and gave her a kiss. It had been at that moment that I realized I had fallen head over heels for this girl. What would my parents say? What about hers? Hell... What does it matter- if this is love, I need to just grab it by the reins and try to hold on for the ride. That kiss seemed to last an eternity and the rush I got wasn't like anything I had endured before-- no race, near death experience with the lads, no fight, no success could amount to the addiction I had developed out of her. Shocked, she just kind of looked at me with a theoretical question mark on her face. All I could reply with is "It's you". She wouldn't know until later that I fell in love with her when I proposed. I've now been married to her 30 years today and every time I hear this timeless classic, I'm reminded of her and everything we have ever been through, and these years up until now have been nothing but magic.
This was played on my Prom party. My friends said to Eric, my crush, that he should invite me to the dance floor, and he did. It was the best night of my live. We put this song in the radio every anniversary, and dance along. Love you Ellie
I love when people reimagine the music that we listen to now days, just as much as when they modernize 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s songs for the next generation to connect with it that much smoother. ^__^
right now i'm just imagining how would this song in 80's be like ?? and teenagers and lovers played it in the car and spearing love omg im gonna to cry 😍😍
I remember entering my high school crush’s house that October of 1985, we had this teamed homework assignment and this song was blasting on his boom box, it gave me the strength to reveal my feelings and we kissed. We’ve been married for 30 years. The 80s were the best
Hey all! Firstly, wow, this really blew up, didn't it? :-) Thanks for all your comments! Secondly, for any 80s karaoke fans out there, I've uploaded the backing track to my Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/bogginmashups/instrumental-80s-remix-ellie-goulding-love-me-like-you-do-1985-version . Enjoy!
@@Homelander99956 Wasn't me who did that track, unfortunately. I think you might be thinking of the fab track that Johan Olsson composed? ua-cam.com/video/bR6h4XGx3zA/v-deo.html
I found my parents wedding video in the attic and I totally fell in love with this song. Dad was so handsome with that bowtie and back in the eighties my mom had a dark hair and now she always nags my dyed black hair.
I remember so vivid, thoses days my life was going through shit but when i met my wife her smile was the only thing that brightened my day, i still remember when me and herwere dancing to this song. The world just stopped and the only that matters was us in the middle of the dance floor. Thx Babe Happy 25 years of marriage
Ah how I remember going to Ellie goulding's 1985 anything could happen tour, it was so beautiful the stage was so simple and the crowds were crazy even crazier then madonna and when she performed this as the encore everyone was in the tears it was the most magical moment of my life😂
This is the best 80s remix. I listened so much to this version that now i can't hear the original track like the original anymore. The original track i hear it more like a modern remixed version xd
Wow, 1 million views, I can't believe it! I just wish I'd made the drums a bit quieter now :-D Thank you all for listening, and please have a listen to some of the other remixes I have uploaded to my channel - it's much appreciated!
@Genesis Merano Drums are perfect even if i understand your thought ;) well done! banger!
Drum is 80s's essence!
How did you get that vintage finger style bass sound? Is a synth? or a real recorded bass?
@@StarBiscuit-e6z Yes, specially those snares.
@@boostertherooster5315 Hi there, thank you for your query and comments! It's a synth bass (not a real one) taken from a Roland JP8000 synthesiser.

How is it that I am only learning of these 80s remixes today!?

I always felt like this song deserved a better beat and more romantic delivery in it for the lyrics it has
Robo_Destroyer / Darth Troller I agree!!! For some reason, this song never fully liked me and it was for the melody but this remix made me like it.
And a guitar solo. All 80s pop songs would have an epic guitar solo.
She did a slower, less pop-y version at Abbey Road ua-cam.com/video/X0rJieOM2NY/v-deo.html
Same, somehow this song gave me the old song vibes since it came out and this proved me right.
Isn’t this song from that 1985 movie “Fifty Shades Of Grey”?. I mean the original, not the 2015 awful remake.
we should start applying filters on movies to make them look like VHS quality :D
that's actually a really cool idea !
Aleksandras Bilyk Not only : fashion was totally different, but you're giving such a great idea.. 😍
Yeah,I think so. Farah Fawcett was brilliant in her role as Anastasia Steele, and of course Beau Bridges amazing as always as Christian Grey
Dude, I think it was Jeff Bridges... or so I remember.
This would've been a hit in the 80's hahahaha
@Ren Karasu Yeah that was a hit in the 80s.
Well it was a hit at the currant time I mean it is successful at every decade lol
Why does the 80s type beat reach the heart space so easily?Damnnn
Is it possible to have 80's flashback but you born in 90's???
daniel waluyo good question :D
Of course it's possible. I mean, at least I'm having a flashback right now, and I was born in the 90's too. "Borderline" (1983) by Madonna has the same effect on me.
Yes I guess it's from all the music and movies made in the 80's. Classics.
+daniel waluyo I feel the exact same way. I was born in 1996, yet I feel nostalgic for songs like Africa by Toto. It's so odd.
Yeah, sure! the 80's can be a state of mind as much as a time you were actually born.
i cant listen to the original now...
*this is too good*

Wdym? This is the original
Ok. But this is the original right?
I was just thinking the same.
do you mean the 2015 remix version? no, that's trash.. i always hear this original version..

I still remember that day when this song was played in 85! Oh how time flies so fast
I've now been married to her 30 years today and every time I hear this timeless classic, I'm reminded of her and everything we have ever been through, and these years up until now have been nothing but magic.
i like this remix. this song has always given me Berlin vibes. it fits with the 80s well

This was played on my Prom party. My friends said to Eric, my crush, that he should invite me to the dance floor, and he did. It was the best night of my live. We put this song in the radio every anniversary, and dance along. Love you Ellie
This is definitely something I would have danced to at a school disco. I love the original, but this is a good job done. I love the 80s!!
I love when people reimagine the music that we listen to now days, just as much as when they modernize 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s songs for the next generation to connect with it that much smoother. ^__^
Ok this sounds the best of all the 80's remixes...from someone who lived 80's music! ;)
That key change is everything. 💞💓💕
right now i'm just imagining how would this song in 80's be like ?? and teenagers and lovers played it in the car and spearing love omg im gonna to cry 😍😍
If I didn't know this song, couldn't tell me it wasn't from the 80s to start with! Amazing mashup!
Those album covers are amazing
except that there is an anachronism on the album: twitter wasn't around in the 80s! LOL
Enjoy!
Do you have the multitracks of it?
Boggin Mashups do you have backing track for mcr - helena too?
@@FloydianDip So sorry, I've just seen your comment! The song was composed in Cubase - which particular track are you interested in?
@@Homelander99956 Wasn't me who did that track, unfortunately. I think you might be thinking of the fab track that Johan Olsson composed? ua-cam.com/video/bR6h4XGx3zA/v-deo.html

THE KEY CHANGE
Eric Dutton soooo good
I found my parents wedding video in the attic and I totally fell in love with this song. Dad was so handsome with that bowtie and back in the eighties my mom had a dark hair and now she always nags my dyed black hair.
Thank you! I've been looking for this song ever since I first heard it at the end of Mannequin 3.
I remember so vivid, thoses days my life was going through shit but when i met my wife her smile was the only thing that brightened my day, i still remember when me and herwere dancing to this song. The world just stopped and the only that matters was us in the middle of the dance floor.
Thx Babe Happy 25 years of marriage
that intro had me like "so totally 80s"! tripindicular, dude!
MemphiStig never skip 80s intro. Thats a rule.
My husband loved this song. Still miss him so much 😥
Sorry to hear. bless u
Ah how I remember going to Ellie goulding's 1985 anything could happen tour, it was so beautiful the stage was so simple and the crowds were crazy even crazier then madonna and when she performed this as the encore everyone was in the tears it was the most magical moment of my life😂
Very pleasant. Like "Say You' Say Me" of the 2010's.
In this remix, the Yamaha DX7 internal patch “Electric Piano 1” was heard.
This for some reason sounds way more wholesome with 80s sound.
Its a tiny bit spicy but is just nice. Great job
Best song off the soundtrack for "49 Hues of Light Grey",
More proof we had the best music in the 80s
what's she doing with that chair

@@Austin-sc2lu ahahahahahaha
This is the best 80s remix.
I listened so much to this version that now i can't hear the original track like the original anymore.
The original track i hear it more like a modern remixed version xd
Lembro quando ela veio no Brasil em 85! Foi uma comoção, o show de sp foi maravilhoso! Sdds anos 80s
