American musical magician, singer, guitarist, and all-around one-man band extraordinaire. This episode takes us to Easthampton, Massachusetts, a small but intimate studio brought to life by Mascis’s unmistakable signature sounds. Mascis is arguably one of the most definitive guitarists of the last 50 years. Just ask Rolling Stone Magazine. He was #86 on the top 100 guitarists’ list. Mascis’s guitar wizardry and ever-evolving songwriting chops have found a home with a number of worthy bands like Dinosaur Jr, Deep Wound and the Velvet Monkeys. @@literalwho9017 He also played drums on the Dino albums “Green Mind” (most of it anyway), “Without a Sound”, and Hand It Over”. He has also always sat down at a kit next to Murph and shows how he wants all the songs to be played on drums. He was a drummer first before guitar, so he’s super picky about the drums being how he wrote them.

J's surprisingly good at playing bass. A lot of times when a guitarist plays bass it sounds kinda bad or boring but he actually has a a pretty cool style
j mascis is somehow even more explosive when he plays drums ❤

Clean sounded lasted less than 5 seconds at 1:43. Musta stepped on that button by accident.

Interestingly he doesn't use his left foot when drumming.
Is it just me or these instruments are kind of ear piercing for some reason? I would think cardboard would absorb the sound more but it seems to be absorbing AND making it more screechy in the high frequencies at the same time.
