Well, the level of self sufficiency is apparently „we can do good enough on our own, but we are not too proud to buy from elsewhere if we want it to be really good“.
That's very misleading; the Russian engine was developed by NAMI in collaboration with PORSHE engineers which is quite different from what DW is trying to insinuate. Currently, NAMI is developing its own (100% Russian) engine while sourcing Chinese developed engine as stop gaps.
