Roleplay on Just Examined Cases | Tiju's Academy
For our recent OET Speaking subtest, we are introduced to a new type of roleplay card. Such a roleplay card for the OET Speaking subtest does not require any introduction, unlike the usual. The OET Speaking subtest mostly requires us to introduce ourselves to the patient. Like the general OET Roleplay, we don't need to introduce ourselves here. In such a scenario, the conversation starts after finishing an examination or a test in the OET Roleplay card. Such OET Speaking roleplay can be a bit tricky, to begin with. In today's OET Speaking roleplay, let us look at how we can initiate such a conversation, without introduction.

SETTING Community Health Centre
ROLEPLAY CARD
PATIENT You are 66 years old and are concerned about the varicose veins on your left leg, which have become increasingly itchy. You would like some advice. The nurse has just examined your leg.
TASK:
When asked, say you're generally well and you don't have any underlying health conditions
Say the itching started a few months ago. In the last couple of weeks, some of the veins have become much itchier. When you scratch, your skin is becoming red and there are scabs forming Your veins are just a bit swollen but they don't feel hot.
• Say you haven't used any medicated creams. You have occasionally used moisturisers, but they didn't seem to help.
Say you'll try an emollient cream compression stockings. Say it's very hard to stop scratching as they're very itchy.
• Say you'll do what the nurse has suggested and make a doctor appointment, if there's no improvement.
