Licensed stylist here who’s been watching you for a few years… I love your honest and clear explanations of these haircuts and styles. The ppl making ugly comments are being a bit too general and just don’t understand how tailoring a not so great short style can make it much more flattering to the eye.
Ps- I love the amount of detail you go into. Some of us love a visual with a thorough explanation and don’t want you to “get to the point”. That comment was not speaking for the rest of us who don’t want our hair chopped up carelessly. Thanks for making quality content with your own flavor added👍 👍

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate this. I find stylists can be the hardest on their peers. So I always take hairstylists support deeply to heart! I’m really glad you appreciate the deeper explanations. That’s the way I learn so it ends up being the way I teach. I totally get that it isn’t for everyone but I do think, it’s a better route to ensure that people understand the why instead of just the what.

I love the way you explain everything in detail-that’s how all teachers should be. I’m not a professional stylist but in all walks of life, you learn more by explaining in detail. There is nothing worse than going into a job not knowing everything that it entails. And, yes, you do not have to watch these videos. I do believe (whether you agree or not on his methodology) you probably learned “something”.

I quickly responded with “your opinion is yours, that’s fine. The sad part is someone who has their own channel likely knows how hard it can be to put yourself out there. It’s unfortunate that you feel the need to be so rude about it”. Within less than five minutes that comment was taken down by the original poster. Once people realize that you have the ability to respond to them, it’s funny how often they get very quiet about their very loud opinions! Lol.

My bob does not fall into those "don't do" categories. If she'd given me what I asked for without explaining why she thought i should modify it, I would have been so unhappy. She was very experienced and she was right. Justin, I started styling hair in 1978 while still in high school. I always felt that sharing knowledge was the best way to improve my abilities and continue to help improve the industry. However, I am disabled and can not stand to have any of today's stylists touch my hair. They are not being trained how to apply, process or shampoo out the color. I went home one day to discover the color still on my hair and scalp. Some stylists do not understand how to use end papers when wrapping a perm. Also are not familiar with guidelines and sectioning for a brilliant hair cut. In my day my clients and peers always praised my "perfect" haircuts. Whether male or female. So I love seeing your videos and your advice on what to look for in a great cut and style. You are not "handing down commands on how a woman should wear their hair. Only things to consider to improve their own choices for the styles they chose.😊 Much love and blessings to you and your wife.

I found a good hairdresser but she treated me like a number, whisked me in and out, and could never remember who I was, even mistaking me for someone else and telling me to leave, when I had just booked the appt about an hour earlier. So I just can’t go back to her. When you’ve had me in your chair multiple times for 30-45 minutes each time, but you can’t ever remember who I am, it’s rather insulting. I’m a person, not a number. Thank you for the excellent tips.

I’m sorry that you were treated so poorly! No person should be ignored or treated so inappropriately! Even if you’re a difficult client, you “kill them with kindness!” Unless you have caused some serious faux pas ! It’s there loss, and reputation at stake, & if they continue to treat clients like this, it will get out, and it will hurt their business in the long run! Sounds to me that you’re the lucky one! Ask around! Word of mouth is the best advertisement! ❤

But I find your observations great, having been a hairdresser in my earlier years. And you are NOT dictating what everyone must do - you are only voicing what you have found to be the best techniques for whatever topic you are talking about. Just ignore the haters. My hair used to be thick enough to layer but with age it has become too thin to layer. For the last haircut I got, it was recommended that instead of making a front downward slope, that as you say requires layering, I should get a slight U-shape front and no layers. Well I was sceptical lol, but why not try it. It looked amazing! So could you please include discussions regarding thinning hair? Thanks for your expertise and excellent explanations.

Being one who has had more than my fair share of bad haircuts, it helps me explain better the end result I'm after. Not every stylist runs their fingers through your hair. They just start whacking. Or I should say hacking away. Been butchered way too many times. And I still paid. 😢

They’re creating living art under a time constraint. Who else does that? The more detailed explanations you give the more consumers understand, have their eyes trained and can have something to show a cutter/stylist what they want. Thanks Justin. I think my hair stylist must know a thing or two about bobs. She styled my shoulder length hair recently after years of me saying "just a trim please". Since having it cut I've had many compliments . It seems my stylist understands your suggested do's and 'don'ts' in my cut. I had been worried that cutting my hair shorter would not suit my plump aging face as well as does for young or slim, model types but the bob still gives me enough hair framing my face an inch or two past my chin , while being a bit shorter at the nape which works well.
