      Thanks so much Katherine! Yes I definitely think too many people let their dogs off just because they feel they have to, do what is right for you and your dog :)

      If you aren't 100% certain he will come back, don't let him off lead. He will still have as much fun on lead

      You could use a long line so they get freedom but they are still on a leash and safe.

      @@stormsguineas5653 That works really well, I would start on a quiet beach and each time your dog reaches the end of the line call them back, reel them in on the line and give lots of rewards, that way they get used to exploring and then checking in with you

      That means you can't have your dog off leash, pretty self explanatory

      I like to make sue my recall is solid before I let my dog off anywhere. The dogs and environment are far more rewarding than coming back to you. Check out my video on recall and focus. Your dog should always be looking to you for the next move. ua-cam.com/video/B0D1OT30jCQ/v-deo.html AND ua-cam.com/video/mr48fRwVxb0/v-deo.html

    Is there a way to keep sand away from their mouths, nose, and eyes?

    • @TheWholesomeDogLife

      Hi Adrian, I recommend getting your dog used to running water from a bottle by gradually pouring it near them until they are comfortable. Then start slowly wetting their face with it (this practice can be done at home) then after your beach trip you can rinse their face off before you leave. Use a towel to wipe your dog's face after they come out of the water or after playing in the sand. Avoid playing in areas with high winds: High winds can blow sand into your dog's face, so try to avoid playing in areas where the wind is strong. Keep your dog's face trimmed: Long hair around a dog's face can trap sand, so consider keeping your dog's face trimmed. Hope this helps!

    Hi I was curious what type of dog. Your three legged dog is. I got a puppy last year and he looks quite a lot like your dog and I have no clue what he is. I loved this video I live by the ocean so this is great!

      He's our little miracle tripawd. I adopted him in Thailand. We have done a DNA test on him and it came back as Bloodhound, collie and chihuahua. I don't think it's very accurate. We don't care, he's our Samkha (his name means 3 legs in Thai)

    So i havent watched the full video yet but i am taking my dog and my step dads dog who are both puppyish to the beach tmrw and jazzper (my dog he is around 9-10 months) and citto (my step dads dog he is around 6-7-8 months) i know jazzper will come back to me if i let him off its just that when he seens another dog or something he will run to it and i won't be able to get him back he doesnt fight other dogs he just likes to play. And for citto he doesnt always come back and he barks and people and dogs so i dont know if i should let them both of at the beach. So could u please give advice.
    I have let jazzper off the lead be4 when i was with my 2 little dogs going on a walk and he came back but that was when he was little.

      Hi there, I would suggest using a long leash so that he is able to go play but you can reel him in if needed. Keep some treats or toy with you to reward him for coming back

    Can we already bring a 2-month old puppy at the beach? 2x deworm and 1x 5-in-1 vaccinations only.

    How to stop my dog from drinking salt water all the times and get sick 🤢 my dog drinks water any time she is in water swimming and she kip on drinking non stop

    • @TheWholesomeDogLife
      @TheWholesomeDogLife  2 роки тому

      I'd make sure that you take plenty of water with you to the beach and encourage her to drink outside of the water. Also, go in with her and correct her when she bends down to drink and then reward her with a treat or a toy. Also if she is keen on carrying a toy, have her carry it so that her mouth is full and she can't drink. Hope that helps.
