Whack a Box is a fun mini game in Final Fantasy 7 Remake that requires the player to smash boxes for points. In chapter 14, the mini game's hard mode becomes available for the first time. You need to get 30,000 points in total to get all of the prizes along with the Whack-a-Box Wunderkind Trophy. My strategy is simple - use the Hardedge (available for 2,000 gil in Wall Market) and the Infinity's End ability will make quick work of the large 1,500 point crates.

FuzzfingerGaming got 35k on my hard mode play through while watching video. Didn’t receive trophy. Great tip to use the hard edge, did better than twin stinger
Splash Danger Triple slash is pretty much faster to use.
For me using the deadly dodge materia worked really well, dodge roll to make your next attack an area attack. Takes out most stacks.

I was getting under 20000 and due to your comment could achieve 43800 😂 Insane
Deadly dodge is basically an animation cancel for the basic attack, so just spam X and O and use the ability to break the big boxes when needed (but go for the little boxes and time first)
I was having some trouble with this one, but after following your guide I was able to get 36000 easily, thank you so much!!
One tip to clear the stacks of 50-points boxes: in operator mode, press square one time, then hold square. U should be doing a melee attack, followed up by an aoe round slash (roughly less than 5 seconds to clear per stack?), which helped and saved some time. Hoped it helped! (:
I kept trying with punisher mode and getting So close before failing to hit 30k. Using the ■ aoe instead was key to finally beating it! Thanks!
that does not destroy the 100's tho which are the goal imo using strong attack all the way through wrecks everything and you don't miss much

You don't need that at all. You can use Braver twice in succession for the exact same result and ATB cost.
Just saying, any weapon works the same. All you need is Braver & Deadly Dodge. Deadly Dodge is the true secret to crushing this. Almost makes it too easy. Got a perfect score on my very first try with over 30 seconds to spare & no more boxes left to break lol. Had to literally stand there & let time run out cua there was nothing left to do.

This one gave me a slight challenge. Just wait till you go back to the gym. Took me 3 days to get that one completed with how difficult it is. As for this one, I found using the iron sword and the triple hit skill for the 1500 boxes. Two uses took them out easily.

I’ve spent ages replaying chapter 8 in hard mode thinking I kept doing something wrong as there’s a YT post which said it was chapter 8! he got all the items and trophy from the quest first time 🙄 thank you for the videos, your top secrets version of shyns was spot on bro that’s how I beat them and ifrit was summoned against me too lol
I used triple strike and got 40,000(normal) and 39,000(hard) on this. Just prioritize the red crates then focus on the smaller blues wad my game plan

I decided to finish some missions that were left behind good thing I did. I finally finished the hard pull ups trophy. the mini game again and all quests. even obtained an important materia if you finish all quests. go to the urban district were you collect the Wutai music around there you will find it.

Thanks for letting me know where to grab the materia after tho it would've took me awhile to think of where it would ve let alone if any would drop. I gotta say the pull ups pissed me off the most in this game took me lik e 30 attempts till I started restarting to change the button pattern
Small tip: You can use Dodge to get out of Punisher Mode and already be moving towards where you need to go. Hitting triangle to switch to Operator Mode will do a normal attack, which wastes time
I literally got a perfect score on both Normal and Hard on my very first try, with tons of time to spare. Literally had to just stand there & let 30 seconds tick away cus I already broke all the boxes lol.
Deadly Dodge is the true trick to making this easy. It absolutely eviscerates the smaller boxes. I also like to use two Bravers in succession to break the dual 1500 boxes. You have to be careful to line yourself up right tho or u may miss, since it's a direct vertical slice.

FML, I didn't realize there were more boxes up the ramp, kept ending around 29K until I looked up this vid. >.>
Got this on the second try (first try 20000). Here's what I did...
Hardedge
Focused red boxes and do the aoe spin attack
When I had two atb guages I just moved to the nearest 1500x2 and used infinity end which takes them out in one shot
Getting the pull ups challenge and biker boy...I gave up on lol

The trophy was easy and I was using the iron blade and my score is 35,550.
And then everbody clapped.
Hard is a million times easier than normal.
I just spammed dodge slash and got like 40k+

Is anyone else having this problem. I have triple slash and Infinity End equipped in Battle settings going into this mini game. But as I start it has me with Focus thrust and Braver. I dont get it.
Depending on your sword, not your abilities
use triangle attack the hole way your welcome

pullups is the worst mini game and the hardest because it changes patterns are your second round and it fucks your brain up when you have been using a certain pattern before hand at least my brain that is.

I used the exact strategy shown on video and I got it in one try.
As he said. Ignore the single 1500 boxes. And make sure to grab all the timer boxes. Made it to 30k with 20 seconds to spare
