I love how when one of you speaks, the other one listens with such love. I have been following booktube since 9 years now and the reason that makes your channel stand out is not only the books you recommend but the fun and lovely aura you both exude together. All the best girls. I hope your channel keeps growing.
Kristen’s active listening is one of my favorite parts of your videos👏🏼 We have SO MUCH overlap in favorites this year lol but I would add Rise of Empire (Riyria Revelations #2) by Michael J. Sullivan and These Burning Stars by Bethany Jacobs to my favorites of the year!
OMG there’s a sequel coming?! I’m so happy to hear that because Artificial Wisdom was sooo close to perfect for me but I didn’t think the “how and why” was fully fleshed out at the end and it left me wanting SO much more. I was bummed by how abrupt it felt, so that is amazing news!!
Yesssss 🎉 we will be getting a rerelease of artificial wisdom with extra chapters from del Rey in 2025 and then a sequel in 2026! So freaking exciting!
Kristen, you never read Twilight?? whaaatt? We seem to share similar book tastes, and I'm highly surprised that Twilight never crossed your book radar... It's all the nostalgic vibes. BTW, love, love, LOVE that you two are posting regularly here on YT. I never cared for tiktok, but live here on YT. So thank you!
11:52 The world on the back of a turtle is a premise of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series as well. But there’s mythical turtles in The Spear Cuts Through Water too 😂
@@alexandraschlichting2579 thank you! We realized while making this that we don’t normally give synopses while doing recommendations but we thought it would be helpful. It was fun to do it in a new way!
You guys have to read the library triology by Mark Lawrence. The first book being the ' The book that wouldn't burn ' , it's about an infinite library and time travel with ghibli vibes and its just so so good. There's a pinch of romance and its done so well !!!
Just started Gael Song - the children of gods and fighting men and ohhh my…. I spent a month in ireland in august and this just brings me back with alllll the feels. Just finished This is How You Lose a Time War and dang. I cannot stop thinking about it.
Not that things can’t appear without connection, but you should look into the Indigenous creation story of Turtle Island! I’ve always heard the Haudenosaunee version but I believe it’s a common story. I imagine inspiration for fantasy turtles (Simon Jimenez and Terry Pratchett included) comes from this!
Adding more and more books to my 2025 TBR! I recently picked The Spear Cuts Through Water and the beginning has been confusing…keep hearing that everything falls into place so I’ll just keep reading 🤓
Have you read Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin? It might be my favorite read of the year but I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I myself just randomly picked it up from a box of books on the street. It’s an Alternate History set in a world where the Axis Powers won WW2 and Germany and Japan have a motorcycle race every year to celebrate. The FMC was experimented on during the war (she’s Jewish) which led to her being able to shape shift and now she’s in the resistance. Her mission is to shift and impersonate one of the girls in the race so she can win, attend the victors ball, and kill Hitler. It’s fast paced and gripping. Couldn’t put it down and I highly recommend it. I feel like more people need to know about this book.
I am Maddy. Hated the Grace Year, but I understand why it could be loved. I do think about it often which I hate because it brings back the uncomfortable feelings I had while reading which made me dislike it. But it also says a lot because I tend to forget books five mins after reading it.
I just finished the first book in The First Law and it feels very strange to even talk about, I really enjoyed a number of the characters but I don't know what else can even be said about it beyond that. It also just feels like it ends out of nowhere almost as though it was made to be 1 single book and they went well you can't have a 1900 page book so just split it up into 3 equal parts.

I think this every time I watch them!!! Sister looks are the best.
@@abbeymaerie she is the best! Makes me feel so loved! Super stoked for Michael J Sullivan and Bethany Jacobs’ books. They’re on my tbr!!

Right?! This probably needs to be corrected at some point. I did watch the movies but that doesn't totally count. And yes! We are loving UA-cam!
Excuse me?! The VIBE in the background?! ❤💚
Maddie decked this room out for the holidays! It’s giving cozy festive library. 😊

Love your excitement for the books you read! My favorites the year were Royal Assassin, Blood Over Bright Haven, and The Will of the Many.
All top tier bangers! 🎉

He is so scrumptious
I think I’m starting to like historic fantasy they just seem fun! 😮😊😂 lol

How am I only 1% into blood over bright haven on my Kobo and already have 10 highlighted sentences 🤣🤣🤣
It’s one of them ones for sure!

Where did you get that beautiful edition of sword of Kaigen??

Sword of Kaigen on my list for sure

It’s definitely memorable, but yeah just didn’t land for me, but Kris absolutely loves it so it definitely has an audience!

Oh interesting! Yeah the ploy for first law is definitely vague at best until the third book in my opinion.
