A friend of mine has the Oklahoma Joe Rambler. He completely digs it.
It was good talking to you this morning Tom. Thanks for your time.

PKGO all day. Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.

They are all great. I went with the PKGO. I got it heavily discounted for cosmetic defects. Being able to expand to 400 square inches of cooking space sealed the deal. That and it will last forever.

Love the charcoal tray on my rambler. I use it for searing quite a bit. Installed a gasket on the lid and grill itself. Thought I’d need the latches but the weight of the lid helped it seal nicely after a few days of settling. Just got a 13 inch cast iron griddle that fits the rambler perfectly. Great video!

Glad I got PK. I use it all the time at home too when cooking for 1-3 people, want to cook on 2nd floor porch, or along side larger grill/smoker. Big grill can smoke, while PKGO grills. PKGO can sear and the big grill can be the zone 2. Point is it's not just portable, it's super functional at home without sacrificing quality vs a full size grill

I’m with you Tom. That Char Griller is a great grill. I had to take mine out service to make room for my new Akorn Jr. I cleaned it up, degreased it and repainted any outside surface that was developing rust. I reseasoned the grates and it’s like brand new. The biggest problem I ever had with it is cleaning it. I found that the first time that drawer hangs up is the time to take apart and scrub it down. A small chafing pan with water on the left side of the charcoal grate, a clay paving brick on its side next to it, and a half chimney of hot coals were all I’d need to roast a chicken, smoke a pork butt or ribs or sear some steaks. I won’t get rid of it no matter what she says. She has a point though. I have too many grills. I don’t know how you get away with it!

The PK GO is the most amazing portable grill and the flip kit is not as much $$ as you stated. I bought mine directly from PK for $369 WITH the flip kit. For tailgating or camping having 2 separate hibachi’s for burgers and brats or chicken is amazing. It’s also one fantastic mini smoker for indirect cooking or smoking a pork butt. It’s worth every penny!

Can you fit a brisket or turkey on there for smoking? Wondering if I can get away with a PKGO as my go to grill and smoker or if I should just get the full size

Great video as always, I think the Oaklahoma Joe Hitch would be a more comparable to the Chargriller as they both do the same things. The Rambler is great but more in a different weight class. Thanks for the video on the Rambler, I bought one used after seeing your review on it!

I prefer this style of grill more than the kettles just by a little(don’t get mad at me). 😉

I'm thinking the OK Joe if I can get it sealed up well enough. Could extend the smoke stack and use it in a hot tent for camping maybe. Cheers.

Thanks for watching! Was considering the akorn for the comparison, but since it’s a kamado it fits more in the kamado grilling area. It does work well for high heat a limited on the indirect side

The option of moving the hot coal up or down is the way to go. The only way you won't need it is if everybody is sitting down on the table so when the food is ready you better serve it right away or leave on the grill and it will burn your food. I have kids, and being able to stretch the cooking time on some of the pieces, keep food warm without overcooking and so on. Yea, the static one is perfect for 1 scenario. My 2 cents.

I went back and forth between the Rambler and PKGO for a couple of years before buying PKGO. I didn't want to make the modifications you did on Rambler. Kick Ash makes a basket for PKGO. That plus lining the bottom with aluminum foil makes cleanup really easy.

I already have a Weber Q and Smokey Joe, so I am not compelled to buy another portable grill. However, if someone forced me to buy one of these today, my wallet and the KISS principle tells me the CharGriller would be the way to go. If money wasn't considered, I also like the PKGO, would not consider the Oklahoma Joe.
