I hope so badly this will eventually come to consoles when I first see cube world 8 years ago or so I watched every single video for years after I love these games ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for pushing me to play Veloren.. again. This is a game I've tried off and on over many months (maybe even a year, I don't know how old this game is), but more recently I forced myself to get past the initial starting player problems, and am addicted to it.. so I wanted to have a guide explaining how to get over the hurdles new players might have that keep you away from trying this game out.. I will have a playthrough of this game that will begin soon, but I felt this tutorial would be necessary BEFORE I started playing Veloren on the channel. Anyways, enjoy! Looking forward to playing with you guys
Thanks for trying it out! Veloren definitely has it's fair share of issues but I think there is a game worth playing here. Can't wait to see more content on it
I tried the game, definitely a learning curve... but I discovered why I dont like multiplayer... there were 3 to 5 people in the first town terrorizing the merchants... so no trading... ugh.....
We are waiting to have more content to have it on steam. It’s better for us to have people find the project themselves rather than us going to the players since steam has a much lower tolerance in terms of development. We only have one steam release so it’s best to wait for the game to grow more
Hi. Does this game require you to self host a server to play? Also, is it possible to restrict access to worlds and chat features for kids' safety? Thanks.
Nope, it doesn't require self hosting a server. There's an official server hosted by the devs, and a singleplayer offline mode that doesn't require a server at all. There's also a fair few community servers, although they all have next to no players on them. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by restricting access to worlds, but in terms of chat, I'm not aware of any child safety features, however the official server does have moderators.
@@Nomadxn it takes inspirations from cubeworld for sure but the comparison pretty much stops there, especially with what’s coming in the future which will dive much deeper into simulation compared to cubeworld
So the dev of Cubeworld completely fumbled with the game, people loved the alpha version and generally hated the 1.0 version. I don't remember if work on Veloren was started before or after the release of Cubeworld but they're basically trying to do what Cubeworld alpha did, so it's not a reskin but rather a fan-made remake of cubeworld with independent coding and textures, nothing in Veloren has been directly lifted from Cubeworld's sourcecode. The dev of Cubeworld has however said that he's going to make a second Cubeworld game which is more in-line with the original alpha version, we still don't know if this will be a separate game or an update to the current game. We'll have to see how that turns out, but in the meantime Cubeworld alpha fans will have to stick to Veloren or modded Cubeworld.
Some other players in this game are so toxic that they'll steal your stuff after killing the monster and another person will support it. What a nice community xD
I've known about Veloren for a while now, but even when I did hear about it, it was always just through word of mouth or a passing comment. I don't think there's much of a following for the game yet, but it seems to have a consistent 30 to 40 people playing whenever I log in if that explains the niche community
@@Scyushi That's the thing with open-source projects. open source doesn't mean slow development, it just means that the code is on the internet for the people to see
You are right but this game is definitely slow development
but its not related to the open source part of the game, probably would be even slower if it were closed source@@caade_1967
U are wrong. Logically open source ofcourse slow development cuz there is no user ( customer ) can push the company or individual for the development
no it means u can see the code@@KeyboardArmy-bg9mh

It was worth waiting all this time for the new cube world update

Please keep up with this games and updates you are great
While that would be insane, the fact it's open-source means it's more than likely going to stay on their little website, but hey.. never say never
We're hoping to bring it to Steam eventually, when it's matured a little more. Until then, Veloren runs very well on the Steam Deck!
@@Scyushi i mean, it open source. So that's more of a reason for it to be ported than not
@@Scyushithat fact it’s open source don’t necessarily means it

Isnt this an exact reskin of cubeworld??
It is not. All assets and code are created by the community, and the game has been written from scratch (without even an engine to speak of).
