- Parents must go through their child's bedroom to check for illegal items such as knives, and must not take what they say at face value, says anti-knife crime campaigner.
West Midlands is now knife crime capital of UK. Knife crime rates are 8.3% higher than the second worst area, London.

The UK needs a 2nd amendment like the US. People should have a right to defend themselves if others are going to be irresponsible.

So if your child was with a group of other kids that committed a crime, got roped in with them and ended up being arrested despite your best efforts as a parent, you'd happily go to prison, would you? Grow up. Peer pressure can be more powerful than any upbringing. We don't all live in a gingerbread cottage with a unicorn in the back garden.

I had knives as a child, taught by my parents and cub scouts it was a tool, never ever carried as a weapon.

I've worked in social services, it's all children. Boys and girls. All ages. All backgrounds. Evergreens if it's not weapons and droogs, it could be child SA/grooming.
Which chip shop are they going to? Which park? Have they come home with new stuff? Do they already vape? Do they smell "green"?

There is help available. Your local children's trust local authority, MASH team etc. Know where they are after school to they fall asleep or you'll lose them. Simple as that
When I was growing up in Jamaica our school bags was search every evening when we come home from school,and our bed room was search every weekend.Social Media contributes alot to these young people's life.Mothers you need to check upon your child it start from home.The prison Sentence in this country is rubbish longer stay in prison should be a must.They know that they can get a slap pn the wrist because these lawyers can talk about upbringing, weather good or bad upbringing crime is not the answer,but they get away easily.
As the old adage says 'get to the root of the problem'. Why are children behaving in this way? What is wrong with society to make children do things like this? The UK needs to reflect on the situation that people are living in to make them do these terrible things. Children are the results of their parents; neglect the problem and see the consequences.
When I was a teenager, a man in white van used to turn up to the local primary school during the evening and hand out Bren Guns and Lee Enfield battle rifles and we used to walk around the local Neighbourhood with them and no one even bothered to call a Police Constable.
If you suspect you child is carrying around a knife and you have to search their room, you have already failed as a parent.
