- Using a hand crank to start my Helen. Make sure you don't wrap your thumb around the crank like I did. If she had kicked back I could have broken my thumb.
It's incredibly simple to hand crank if everything is adjusted correctly. - Авто та транспорт
I would advise only using your left arm and an open palm -no thumb wrap... start with crack at 7:00 O'clock and lift... this way if the crank gets stuck your arm does not get broken.

@@Rottingboards Yes, never wrap your thumb around the crank. If the engine were to kick back it could break your thumb bone and destroy your thumb joint.
It would have to fire after talk dead center to be safe right?

The only car that I’ve ever cranked was my dads 28’ Chrysler series 72 touring car. Also if your starter goes down this might work until your car stalls on a hill with traffic behind you. People today are not very patient.
