I love the fact that you have 4c hair and mastered the wash n go. When I was natural that was something I never thought I could do- thought it always had to be braid outs and twist outs and I was unhappy with my hair length to do all that. So if I nEVER go natural again lol- something to consider
Girl, i love the fact that you started washing your hair weekly. For me personally, it was hard adjusting that into my weekly routines, but once I kept telling myself that “you need a break to relax and unwind” washing my hair weekly became a breeze. Love it love it love it 😍
I second that adding extra water when conditioning. I condition in sections and will saturate a section with water for a good minute before added the conditioner. Seen such a difference and a lot less stress when detangling.
Nairobi has been around a longggg time. Well before we all went natural. So, it catered to the times and it was used on relaxed hair and I think it’s great for that. However, as a natural hair stylist, I use Design Essentials Almond Avocado mousse or their Compositions wrapping lotion (it’s a mousse as well) for all my setting needs. I recently used it as a topper on top of UFD & ICH for a wash n go and it came out really well.
Lol Jen at being triggered by the term “relaxer” on the bottle. Nairobi makes relaxers and were very popular for relaxers in the early 2000s. My stylist used the entire Nairobi line on my previously relaxed hair and the foam has been around a long long time and looks like labeling hasn’t changed. I think naturals found it worked for them too and started using it! Don’t let it trigger you girl!
Great video on wash day! I have been trying to be consistent with my wash day weekly now. I'm trying some new products and I actually love it. My hair is softer, feel moisturize and my twist twist has definition and hydration when I take it down to remoisturize through the week. I'm definitely letting my hair get soaking wet before shampooing. My day is just starting but it's going to be a good day. 👍🏾
That’s a great question. My hair has been in braids for almost 4 weeks, and I haven’t oiled my scalp. Looking forward to washing my scalp on Sunday. 🤞🏽
Hey Girl, hey! Whew, I'm exhausted...that's how I'm doing (thanks for asking🙂). I realized that the way you're wearing your wash-and-go here is almost exactly how I wear mine (side part)...except I don't have a fabulous hair color lol. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! Happy (early) Valentine's Day!🥰
When you first had your hair professionally colored did she give you any specific instructions on how to care for your hair going forward? If so, please share. I have color treated hair and I care for it like a newborn.
It's great that you are back on your hair care game. How am I? I'll skip that question. Let's just say it isn't one of my best days on an emotional level, and keep it moving. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and the tomorrows after that simply because I know that things get better over time.
Soooo I’ve been trying to love the Earthtones gelly and used it to the letter as instructed and every which way but it doesn’t play nice and Always leaves white flaky residue. Lemme know if you experience this and what you do to overcome this problem. Really want it to work especially supporting our Canadian BOB ❤️❤️
I agree with you about putting more water while detangling with conditioner. I'm happy that you use this gel.I was planning to purchase it. The owner like you said to use it on damp hair.. I don't know about that because I usually put products on soaking wet hair. I guess I have to try it. I over working from my home. In March it will make exactly 2 years non stop ..
Girl I really understand. Any product that is telling you to use a chemical beforehand is suss for it it work anyways. Glad it worked out for you all the same. Lovely video. :D
Nairobi came about when many of us had relaxed hair. That’s why the instructions say that. Like many shampoos and conditioners, that can be used on both natural and relaxed hair, Nairobi foam is no different. It can be used on relaxed and natural hair. No need to be triggered and tunnel-visioned! 😂😅
I have found reducing my water usage has helped with my W&G'. I think getting the ratio of product and water for your particular hair is really important.
Hey Jenn, I'm doing pretty well. As usual, you're giving good info! I was trying a wash n go and noticed it was difficult to do the raking. I need to try a different combo.
I love your hair Queen. I subscribed to see some curls virtual platform it was aight. I learned of some really good hair products but OMG!!!! I subscribed to hydra bar virtual salon and my hair is thriving. You will definitely learn the techniques from them. You get more bang for your buck. Everyone should subscribe you wont be disappointed
Since I live in CA and we are watching our water consumption, I wet my brush under the water if I need some help getting my detangling brush through my hair.
Ok this is timely! I do have a question for you Jenn or anybody. Now! I have been thinking about detangling with conditioner before getting in the shower and then shampoo. HOWEVER! My question is, if I do that, aren’t I just shampooing all of the conditioner out? Or do I just need to add a little more conditioner let it sit and go about my business? Also!!! Do your twists really flake with UFD? Is that normal or do I just need to adjust the UFD and water ratio? That was two questions. 😅🤣 great video. Today is about to be a mousse def twist day cuz it’s late.
When I used a little conditioner before I shampoo (pre-poo essentially), its because my hair is dry and matted so the conditioner allows me to manipulate my hair and prevent breakage. Its not to condition my hair per say, and yes, I condition properly after my shampoo. UFD is a gel so if you manipulate the cast after, it will flake. UFD isn't a gel that you should use for a twistout.
@Trisha Smith Detangling with African Pride aloe and coconut water prepoo has been a game 👏🏿 changer 👏🏿 for me and my kinks. It melts away knots and tangles like a dream! It’s meant to be washed out shortly after being applied so you won’t feel like you’re wasting anything. You’ll thank me later for sure if you try it!
I detangle before washing with old conditioners (rather than throwing them out). Also cheap conditioners- I used the Garnier Ultimate Blends range and it has great slip. I still shampoo and condition as normal afterwards.
IMO, what is your intention with conditioning before shampooing? If your intention is to put "moisture" in your hair then you might feel some way about it being rinsed off by the shampoo. If your intention is to JUST detangle to prevent bad knots later on, then I think it's okay for the shampoo to be rinsed off because you most likely will proceed with the conditioning step after. I'm pretty sure you condition before as a "pre-poo" and I think the pre-pooing step doesn't necessarily function the same as the conditioning step (which is after shampooing). At the same time, some people like shortcuts, so some people treat their pre-poo like they've conditioned their hair already and don't want to go back in there after shampooing and some people do (I don't pre-poo as I used to, but before I used a deep conditioner after when I did). Also, don't fret that's what the shampoo is supposed to do. Shampoo is supposed to rinse off things and that's a good thing for the most part. I know my response was long-winded, but hopefully it made a lil sense.
Hmmm....I might have to check out that shampoo and conditoner...When I heard "mango seed..." I stopped, with skid marks 😂 My hair LOVES mango seed butter, periodt! I haven't really noticed it in many products, so to find one with it in it??? I'm no longer a product junkie, but this is going on my "try this" list.
Hey girl!!! Thanks for the video! Mèsi anpil! I wanted to also ask you, have you joined See some curls? Cause after listening to your complaints about UFD, I was wondering? It was a game changer for me about how to use it and get great results! Take care XXX
Hey Jen i have a question? Do you feel that your hair has got thinner since you colored your hair. I want to color mines but I don't want the something to happen to me .
Heyyyyy Jenn, wash day is saturday for me...coming out of 5wk old locs. I really want to try that AG shampoo and conditioner...not velcro🤣🤣🤣 I am doing fine, tired...ready for the weekend. How are you!?
love your show.💓❤💜💛💚 Im not throwing shade but that must be your terminal length for your hair. I've been watching for months now. even leaving and coming back. it is always the same length, above your ear. even with the hair dye that shows your hair is growing out.
I'm in agreement with the relaxer reference. I mean, why was that even added? Why are they promoting putting chemicals in your hair? Is this a natural Haircare line?
@@jciv256 lemme ask you something😂. Does only one part of my head get hydrated then the back part gets left out.? Because if the top part is 4c (which looks like hers) then what's the kinky part, 4d?
@@beckycheruiyot2306 Yes that is true some parts of your hair could be drier. It depends on how you apply your conditioner and how often you wash your hair. My son's hair is very silky in the front and coarse in the back. I have to put extra water and conditioner on the back of his head. Also, there is no such thing as 4c. It's a made-up system. We all have curly hair. Some of it is silky, coarse, loose, or tight. Nappy and Kinky equals dry hair. I thought my hair was 4z! Do you find AG balance too stripping?
