I saw them play this and their other songs from Things we do, which had just been released in 1998, at a Milwaukee Indian summer festival. Being shoshoni, and seeing a native band that wasn't just doing drum songs, was exciting. And being a child of Hendrix, like anyone that was influenced by Jimi, I immediately loved the guitarist. The more I heard him play, it was amazing. At the time I wasn't as confident on the guitar. I recall, I had a camera, and just liked to take pictures, and it had a flash, I kept taking pictures, until I saw the bass player make this look, like he was annoyed. So, I stopped. I also liked to record, and I had this microcassette recorder. I tried to record it, but the volume of the band blew its limited ability out, and I just got static. But I got their CD there, it must have been 1998, and I constantly listened to it. The only thing with that show, is Wanbdi wasn't there. I think they said she was sick, and they had some guy playing drums.
These guys are so awesome. Just wish the crappy music industry would have recognized that a long time ago but It's all politics. His guitar skills remind me of SRV and Santana. Seriously talented and seriously underrated
My mother in law was cousin to their dad, Greg Zephier Sr. who home schooled his children. In the 80's i took my mother in law to a place and we listened to these young kids. Who would know later that they would become Indigenous.. At that time they had played 50 & 60"s songs.. They were great back then.
Not too many bands spark that emotional cord in my soul. But that song is destined to live on forever for those that are mindful to their emotions. I never get tired of listening to it or playing it. Mato is an ace guitar player.
ive been following this band since dine college, 1995 or 1994, back when it was a family band. great production...mato has come into his own....he is breaking down barriers, showing just a glimpse of our native lives, in a guitar, mellow induced, song,..hear it live, or outplay him,...one love, one song, one heart, ... that could be. ive seen him perform,...show some love...again. latz.
I saw these guys in Tulsa OK in the late nineties. They were excellent; about every native I knew was there at Cain's Ballroom. Right before they took the stage, I remember Wanbdi holding a baby, then kissed the baby and handed the baby over (I couldn't see who took the baby). Immediately whomever took the baby handed her a set a drumsticks. I thought "now that's a native gal!"
they would prlay at the back porch and a couple of different places in deadwood, the #10 salloon and the basement at the franklin hotel. They played at the bash in the grass which was some local event in pierre, sd where there were some bands that played from dusk till dawn in the middle of the lone prairie. took my younger brother to that one for his 18 birthday, he stayed sober to remember it all and it was a good choice.
It's been 15yrs .i caught the trio in omaha andbetter than anything outt herenow. Mato has morphed into that Santana level . Thatbandisthebest Don't care wat crap the muzic biz pushes.
All is important. In 2002... I was beaten by my husband of 17 years. Your music gave me strength to move beyond hit. I value ALL of YOU simply saved me then. Still wish, Simple, Thank All Our Relations!
I love this band, they are family. I’ve seen many of their concerts & hoping they get back together & start seeing them in concert again!!! I’ve seen other concerts with not the original band but prefer to see them back together. Mato is awesome !!! Please get back together soon
Heard this from them for the first time a few years back, ordered their complete catalog and eventually found a VHS concert (ripped to DVD). This band could have easily did arenas. SRV and Indigenous would have been perfect.
I saw this group at a Jimi Hendrix tribute, many bands that night but all the rest were Jimi-imitators while Mato was channeling Jimi and Indigenous was definitely the best band of the night! If it were not for Jimi's music I may never have seen these guys!
i'm not close enough to come to see u'all, but i like your music. u have a great band and the music is awesome. keep up the good work..looking forward to more of your great music...Believe in YOURSELFF..
@@bstemwedel Thanks! Their voices and style are so similar! They even look kinda alike! Going to give it a listen. Just added a couple more of their songs to my playlist.

One of the most under rated bands in the last 20 years.
