hi, I've been using a pair of thrash for about a year, and they sound really good, they're very loud, I've had no problems at parties with 100 people and medium-large venues, I recommend them to those who want to start and to those who don't need very high definition audio. PS: for bass, placed near a wall, they hit really hard 😉
My band uses a pair of thrash 215s for mains. They are a bit lacking in the low end. But paired with a set of 18 subs the system sounds great. We also use thump 12a for monitors.
Was just looking to upgrade from an entry Vonyx system and was unsure which to get. Watched this video and decided to put the extra cash in and go for the Thump....
Are the mackie thump 15 super loud and crisp? Just wondering how well they would sound with my current 4 sound town 18 inch active subs. I am using 2 proreck 15 inch loudspekers now and they just do not have that crisp sound once the volume is really jacked up
Do you think it is okay to get 1piece of thump 212 if I allready have 1 piece of thrash 212(not a pair)? For a rock band rehersal room. For vocals. I assume it would bring some benefit with 3dB SPL difference, and some more clarity for vocals with thump. Is it even OK to combine 1 and 1, signal runs from the mix to left and right main output.
Money wise the thrash 215 is in the same range of the thump 212. Would you prefer the thrash being a bigger speaker or still is better the thump being smaller in size?
Good question! I’d honestly prefer the Thump, even at a smaller size. The features and quality as opposed to the Thrash is worth losing a few inches off the woofer. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I'm looking for a pair of active monitor speakers for our new rehearsal room. We've been using some Mackies for our guitars, backing tracks and vocal, but bass guitar was forbidden. Can a bass signal (running trough a Darkglass modeling pedal) do any damages to either one of these speakers?
I'm looking for the same info. Wanting a "FRFR" type powered speaker to plug my darkglass pedalboard into. I have a headrush 215 and it doesn't push the low end we need.
Right now I’m looking for a pair of speakers to use as monitor wedges. I feel like for this application, a lot of what makes the Thumps better wouldn’t really apply. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Hey, I'm a drummer and I need a speaker to amplifiy my electronic drumset. I play in a band. We rehearse in a small living room. Are these speakers a good option?
I'm currently using an SRM350v3 as a keyboard amp. I've had some trouble with it lately. I'm looking for a back up amp, would the Thump 212 do the job as well?
I've never really been a Mackie fan but I am a fan of your reviews. That being said I think these speakers will serve their purpose. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
What's your opinion for the Beringer DR112DSP. I bye them before 6 months ago. My first option was Mackie 15'' but they are much expencive than Beringer so i buy them.. Please make a test and share with us ... Many Thanks from Greece ... !!!
Does the new Thump have a fan for the amp to prevent overheating? I had first gen 15 thumps and loved them but did not play out with them. I used QSC K12s for shows as a DJ. Thanks
I would think so as you probably don't need the bass output as much for a floor monitor. Not sure if a 12" has a shorter range to the sweet spot than the 15, so a 12 may be good as a monitor. Maybe someone else can chime in. I just bought a Thump 12" 212, not the Bluetooth. It's wil be primarily a practice monitor Amp just for vocals going through the mackie pro12fx mixer. Everyone else will use their cabs or acoustic drum for practice.
The trash sounded better to me. Guess it's the 15 woofer compared to the 12. Personally I prefer Yamaha speakers to any brand other than QSC. But yeah price is a big issue. Very good videos bro 👍! Thank you...
QSCs are great. I had first gen K12s. Loved them. Also the first gen Thump 15s are good. Great bass. Don't know how well they would do for long shows vs QSCs without adding a fan for the amp. Cheers
I used the Thrash for mains for a brass band live show. They were surprisingly ok. I think around the low mid area needs to be eq’d on them just a little. They didn’t clip I was driving them. I’m like the other guy I like Yamaha better I had them before the budget ones they’re very clean.
just went at a store to hear about the sound quality of the mackie thump series. they dont have the 215Xt. given that i dont used sub, was looking for 15 inch woofer. the music loudness is quite shit. dont know if its because it's pulling its music directly from a laptop but it clips each time the bass or the sound goes louder when its on 3/4 of the volume. ive heard a chinese copy speaker of 400 watt rms and its way better than that mackie 700 watt rms speaker. pffffff.
Very good review. Iam 10 months late but nevertheless i have the 215 thrash only because the thump was more expensive. I am here to tell you that I am not mad at the thrash at all. It sounds good. I have a mixer hooked up and I do gigs at event spaces and banquet halls. if I had the money for the thumps I would've gotten those first. However, my outside events, I think I'm going to go get some 12 inch subwoofers just to boost the bottom up a tad bit.
@@projectb3117 the Yamaha DSR is better than the JBL SRX, EV ETX honestly give the JBL VRX932LAP a real run for its money. As a Sound rental company that owns all 3 of them, the DSR is in a league of its own

The bottom end really drops off on the Thrash, definitely prefer the Thump!

Thanks for the review. Thumps are great for small/medium size gigs and for beginners. Also great back up speakers or for extra fill 👍🏼

Can you do a review on Rockville DJ PA speakers? I heard they are good.
Just ordered 2 thump 212’s have additional speakers to use though
Which one would be better for a live band, not for dj stuff?
The Thump is you’ve got the money!
JBL

Are these two speakers amplified, correct?
Yes

Definitely, especially if you’re on a budget!

Does it have headset capabilities? Sorry I'm new to this. What's the price on the one you got?

The thump has a 2 ch mixer and built in dsp
Thanks for watching! I just released a review on my new favorite affordable studio monitors for 2023: ua-cam.com/video/UfvlfL-aPfY/v-deo.html
Which speaker has better bass?
I believe all sizes being equal, it's the thump. If yoy are wondering about the thrash 15" vs thump 12", I wouldn't have that answer.
Mackie vs JBL which one better, Mackie vs Alto which one better?
1: JBL. 2: Mackie. 3: Alto
Is this good for 200 people 215

Agreed!
Connecting a mixer to it will make it sound cleaner

Thump for little low end, but the acoustics on Thrash tho
very helpful. Thanks
