I actually appreciate adaptations that try to stick to the source as close as possible. Very rarely do they succeed when they don't (The Boys, The MCU, DCEU), but Prison School and Alita were fun watches to me. GITS actually tried to mix the movie and series plots somewhat fairly, but not quite there (plus the Scarlet Johansson casting controversy; I still support the android body theory).
Amazon Prime has a live-action Hellsing movie in the works and from what I've been hearing about it, and reading about it looks like they're going with a British cast for central characters Alucard, Seras, Walter, and Integra along with the plot adapting primarily the manga/Hellsing Ultimate.
For some reason, I registered that as Hellboy, and wondered what was so special about it since we've already had several of those. Good that they're going the British cast route. I wouldn't put it past them to set it in America and give everyone Brooklyn accents, with the way a lot of live action adaptations have been.

Guys this video is great and all but i think it's a crime not mentionning one of the best anime adaptations out there: Mugen no Junin aka Blade of The Immortal i mean it's been directed by Takashi Miike for god's sake! and it's a good one at least since most of the works of Takashi Miike are Manga/Anime based there is Ichi the Killer, Jojo Bizzare Adventure to name a few. Some other movies that are non Miike's work you didn't mentioned in the video like Full Metal Alchemist even City Hunter is adapted by french cinema and yes Bleach has a live action flick too !!.
I've only seen a couple of these, to be honest. The live action GTO and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon were both (in my opinion) deliciously cheesy. XD I'm surprised that the Ruroni Kenshin and Attack On Titan adaptations didn't make this list.
The higurashi live action movies are a pain to find now. Someone give these a blu ray release in the U S. They're decent low budget horror films. The second one looks nicer though.

At least, Erased does get a decent live adaptation which is the 2017 J-Drama because it is much more faithful to the source material.
Um Mojo hate to break it to ya but I knew that some of these had live action adaptations for a long while now. (Especially Assassination Classroom since they literally made it right when the anime had just ended if I'm remembering correctly.)
We at Gintama fans united stay eating
I really knew of all 20 of these adaptations. Need to work a bit harder and pull some old school out, like the Live Action movie Grave of the Fireflies
Other honorable mentions:
- Gokusen
- Boku ra Gaita
- Yatterman
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Hana Yori Dango
- City Hunter

Kakegurui live action for me is great. And also the Sailor Moon.
“Hikaru No Go” was also made into a live action series. It’s a Chinese production. I can’t say whether it’s good or bad as I’ve never watched it.
Well in that case they also should put Initial D and City Hunter to the mix if they counted asian adaptations outside japan.
I've only seen a couple of these, to be honest. The live action GTO and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon were both (in my opinion) deliciously cheesy. XD I'm surprised that the Ruroni Kenshin and Attack On Titan adaptations didn't make this list.
Great teacher onizuka remains the best live-action I have ever seen.
The higurashi live action movies are a pain to find now. Someone give these a blu ray release in the U S. They're decent low budget horror films. The second one looks nicer though.
I did not expecting that the tpn has a real life version
Ash, I'm surprised you didn't mention the live action version of Casshern or Gatchaman. Sadly, I own that Dragon Ball movie...on VHS 😭😭
Really these Live actions are so Underrated 😮

Hey Ashley!
If u'r reading this... were u threatened?
I…….don’t know how to feel about this.
For all the car anime fans there’s the live action of Initial D on Netflix. Not the best adaptation of the anime but still has some hype moments in it.
Wow, can't believe they tried Saiki K. just wow.
Inuyashiki was pretty good, have you guys even watched it?
