People will do anything but call this music what it is: classic rock revival. And nothing wrong with that. At least they’re original unlike Greta Van Fleet lol
Love the heavy southern boogie vibe on 3D Country, definitely one of the best albums of 2023! It’s like a modern version of The Kinks’ Muswell Hillbillies, set in Brooklyn.
just got turned onto them by the 3D country TND review about 2 months back from the looks of it. can't believe how matured and refined their sound is for being so young and this only being their 2nd release...so yeah i agree.
@@chrisbab2832 I think this performance is pretty corny. But they didn't edit it or make the set or direct the shoot. The stuff they typically make has a lot more humor too it
This is for me the album of the year. So eclectic and diverse, several songs totally blowing my mind. Like undoer. Thank you for this music and hope to see you in the Netherlands!
Honestly tho the mix on this performance Is just terrible, the vocals and drums are wayyy above everything else in the mix so it just feels awkward. I've seen other live videos of them with literally just camera audio that are much better- they're lower quality obviously but not nearly as awkward like this.
Love Geese, stoked for the new album and glad for this set, but seriously this is a really poor audio mix for something like Rolling Stone. Video is great, but the vocals are WAY too out in front, nowhere near enough guitar and bass present. Seems to maybe get slightly better around halfway through.
I saw a bunch of comments about the awful mix right at the start of the video, and I understood why as soon as the vocals came in. They deserved better than this
Or straight out replace him. Never heard of this band before, checked it out and couldn't make out a word he says. I couldn't imagine going to a show and listening to that amount of mumbled nonsense all night long.
This band is awesome! But...Why this mix is so compressed?WTF Rolling Stones!? what is going on? This kind of mixing for your level is unacceptable! You murdered a great live set with this poor mix! Saying that.. Great work nice compositions Guys @Geeseband 🔥
The singer - A. Just got back from the dentist, and the Novocain hasn't worn off yet. B. Is VERY aware of just how cute he is, and how many girls will go "EEEEE" at the sight of him.
I respect your opinion. Not quite yet though for me. I like this band so far quite a bit. The Strokes and the Stones have paid their dues and been around for decades. Geese are new, but they do resemble both of those bands and you can add Led Zeppelin influence, Janis Joplin, Mooney Suzuki and the Verve at times. They are certainly unique in their own way. I think they'll be huge if they stay together
trying to like this because I love this band, but the mix is awful. And, everyone seems to be trying to jam a bit on their parts, which is totally fine -- except that no one is on the same page about it
Honestly I don't think they're as tight live as the album is. Obviously they have plenty of time to get better but i'm not feeling like the band behind him is very serious and he's feeding off them in a bad way.
@@kevinchristopher1443 couldn’t have said it better myself, I think as a whole they just don’t seem to be taking it seriously, even tho they have some genuinely good songs
Ouch, one of the lamest performances I've seen in my entire life and these songs are also pretty terrible but they have that Strokes thing where it doesn't matter because hipsters will carry them to stardom, so I see this band going places. Great job!
Ouch, I'm glad we have a professional songwriting critic in the comments! If you stumbled into this without looking for it specifically, it tells me you track Rolling Stones YT releases. That's about all I need to know.
@@mmninc.848 Suggested video, and I've seen heavy praise for this band's last album. All I know from this is they're terrible live and these songs are weak so yeah will actively avoid. I do wonder which of these guy's parents is ultra rich, probably the vocalist's. I hope they're getting a good ROI
@marklapis7569 Well fair enough m8. I think, if you have a bent toward experimental rock or post-punk, you'd enjoy their records. Some A+ bands have the occasional live show that doesn't come together, whether due to nerves, poor engineering, or whatever. But it seems you're predisposed to disliking upcoming acts that are popular in 'alt' subcultures, so maybe they're just not your thing. Out of curiosity, what artists are you particularly excited about?
@@mmninc.848 Recently discovered upcoming artists in "alt" subcultures I'm excited about: Nanoray (breakbeat, dnb), Better Lovers (mathcore, metalcore), Asian Glow (shoegaze, noise pop, indie rock), Afrorack (techno, modular synth, gqom). No problem there But if we're limiting to newer post-punk or experimental rock both Squid and black midi are 100x better than this.
@@marklapis7569 We share similar territory genre-wise, although I don't mind the Strokes. I used to be huge into IDM, glitch and all that but kinda gave up on new artists as it feels the hey-day is done, and hyperpop is where the current experimental impulse has landed. I'd be surprised if you didn't like Geese's proper records though, given an affinity for Squid and Black MIDI. My only trouble with them, and same with BM, is that they're teenagers operating at a level that's still beyond my ability after 10+ years of playing music.
It literally annoys me at how apathetic the band here sounds compared to the album. The drummer looks like he's filling in for a church session on a sunday. They're constantly sloppy - I really really hope he gets a better band behind him for the live shows or they're doomed. Also he needs to put his water bottle down while he sings
Yeah, truly one of the lamest performances I've seen, like they were forced into doing this. If this was a band at a local bar I'd make fun of their performance but on Rolling Stone? Just painful and embarrassing.
I dont think its mixing issue. It’s the lead singer- he slurs lots of words and moans through lots of the connective tissue. Not my taste- I like the studio album lyrical execution better. Aside from that, the mix is fine.
babe wake up theres new live geese content
Even with a mixing team comprised of a chicken and a def man, Geese shines through with quality and musicianship and cooperation.
this wins the comments
This mix is a crime
The mix isn’t great but the music is 🔥
Right? Turn that guitar and bass tf up Rolling Stone come on now. Music on point tho
Deserves a better mix
I agree
Nail it
Amen.
Where's the kexp set, their engineers know what's up.
coming tonight I believe@@cadebryan4088

Shame it didnt make the album damn it

a crime they had no backing vocals for this

Best band out
wow its crazy how geese has grown love you guys
Sounds like someone opened the Doors and the Geese flew in.
And the geese had Strokes
Wonderful production! Wonderful band!

i just saw em last night and they absolutely killed it. the mix here is awful.

Definite Foxygen vibes from this album so far
yoooooo
Did them dirty w this mix smh
Mix is uneven but enjoying clarity of vocals on top vs buried wonder what his monitors are like they might be down so he's up
The band needs to BACK HIM UP ON VOCALS!
If they can swing it, they should definitely hire backing vocalists for the tour. The backing vocals on the record are excellent!

Just bizarre to be cutting back and forth between two cameras on the guitar at 9:40 clearly ripping a solo that is utterly inaudible in the mix
Me: These edibles don't work
Me 10 minutes later: 8:10
I wish the lead would just sing the songs like the album it just takes away from the music honestly but the band was great
he is singing like that so there isn’t any awkward spaces between his lyrics because there wasn’t any background vocals for this performance
The singer -
A. Just got back from the dentist, and the Novocain hasn't worn off yet.
B. Is VERY aware of just how cute he is, and how many girls will go "EEEEE" at the sight of him.
He is average looking at best
Dude who mixed this? The sound quality is making a great set almost unlistenable.
Yeah it's hard to listen to this after listening to KEXP so much
Put the strokes and stones together, this is better

this mix is so flat. whos running the show over here? lay off the compression
Trying to like this… The vocals are difficult: too much and give weight to adage: less is more.
Rolling stone clearly is out of touch. Its a crime they dont know how to do sound. Geese is outshining shitty mixers
