You could but you shouldn't. Only thing you should do when its extended is minor corrections. Or maybe drive that 1 meter to the next light.

These things have a dead man's switch and brake very hard when you release it. If you operated fully extended at full speed and the brakes engaged, you are liable to go flying.

Operator's manual will state to NOT drive when extended, for safety reasons.
