@@revolutionalist if you count dmg and staff 4 is enough, on practice its not because even tho ghosts are small they still dont clump up enough for 1 volley to hit all of them
@@stc2828 Given the angle he attacked, ghosts on that high ground would have rekt him, so the lurkers make sense. We're not really in a position to question a GSL code S RO4 player's decisions while we're getting supply blocked on the regular.
Creditable performance from Armani, especially his second win. Lots to build on and invaluable experience to be in a bo7 against the 4th race. As for Maru, it's all been said already. Look forward to another final, and I don't think it will disappoint.
I haven’t had time to watch this season until now and I’m very impressed with Armani this season! He has definitely shown a ton of progress fairly quickly in the gsl! I love a good Zerg 💜💜💜
Game 5 -- say what you want about about the end result, but I do feel that almost any other Terran player would have tabled that one about 15 minutes earlier. "When you're ahead of Maru, the game's actually even."
Maru likes to grind out the games even if he knows that he will most likely lose. Whenever he does that though, his opponent usually loses all hope, realizing how much of an uphill battle he needs to go through just to obtain a single win. Against weaker player, this usually breaks them down mentally which resulted in the final game.
@@Riverfall_ Maru reminds me of Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen in that respect. He grinds down his opponents. Even when he has a position that is almost certainly a loss he makes them go to their limits to get that win. Incredibly demorilizing when they know they have to beat him multiple times.
He is by far the most tenacious Terran. Back at the very start of LOTV when Terran were getting stomped by op adepts, he was the only Terran grinding and eking out wins against Toss.

If Anything that lurker game showed how clearly overpowered Terran is. They can literally spend 10 minutes barely mining while doing no damage to their opponent and still barely lose.

Whoever wins the GSL this season would have done something rarely seen in the GSL knockout group stage. They would have beating 1 Zerg, 1 Terran and 1 Protoss. Maru or TY, you are a champ and deserve the win. GL in the finals.

can someone tell me how was Maru so confident that Armani wouldn't go for roach rush or baneling rush in the last game? Maru did not even scout. 2:05:08 if Armani went for either of these rush maru would be dead. I dun think Maru scouted at all.
I think the timing on roach and baneling would be a couple minutes later, and Maru put down double racks with Factor and Starport to follow, so his production should be enough to counter the rush. What would kill this build from Maru is a 12/14 pools with early lings come accross the map.
The lurker inefficiency worked because he was playing on momentum and initiative it's very simple it is similar as in chess when you sacrifice a pawn for an attack than you sacrifice a second pawn to continue the attack then you sacrifice a piece than another piece and than you mate or you win back all your material and more.
Armani was 441 aligulac elo behind Zest when they played. Armani gained 237 elo from beating Zest, since he is 628 points behind Maru at time of play, we was 865 elo behind Maru before beating Zest.
Armani definitely outperformed expectations, nobody is going to blame him for losing to Maru in a Bo7, and he put up a really good showing. Maru's TvZ is just too good though, its just so fun to watch. Maru vs TY is always an entertaining series, I'm really looking forward to it! Could easily go either way, Maru has the best reflexes of any player in the world and is absurdly good at sticking in games where he gets behind early, but TY might be the best at strategy and positioning, and is probably the most dangerous player Maru can face in GSL.
34:55 how does that fight work? Terran has upgrade advantage (1,1 vs 1,0) and same army supply while zerg has mutalisks, which are some of the best harrassment units. Yet the terran loses a straight up battle, down 20 army supply. Ok game 4 does sparks joy. Zerg-aque everywhere

@@nemdenemam9753 Couple of things. Maru walked further on creep than pros usually do. Generally they skirt around the edge, but he got greedy after the cancel, you can see he has to stop running and start splitting at the edge of it. Mutas are great harassment units, but the reason they are weak in fights is because they are squishy and susceptible to splash. If maru has a few widowmines there it's a way different fight, but mutmuts fighting against marines that are distracted is fine because the aoe shreds. Finally, close army supply or army strength doesn't mean that each side will lose an equal amount of units. Think about phoenix vs phoenix in PvP, 14 phoenix can pretty much beat 10 phoenix without any losses at all because of how a slight advantage can snowball (idk they actual phoenix numbers cus I never build them but you understand the point).
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if TY practices with Clem. Especially with some resuming from replay in different scenarios. Also, SpeCial Is TY's adopted child by now

About that game 5, so how many high efficiency, high cost armies is Zerg just allowed to suicide, getting very little done in the early late game? If you lose your costly high efficiency unit comp as Terran or Protoss it is always a severe setback, if it doesn't just end the game outright. How is Zerg allowed to get crushed on every attack for 10+ minutes, but then win the game anyways?
2 reasons. First is zerg capabilties to expand faster. Second is all those extra larvae from inject. The former will allow zerg to gain more resource than other race. The latter is, well, army productions, and A VERY FAST one with all those larvae banked throughout the game

What seems too strong in my opinion is that Zerg was able to create a multitude of those armies that are both highly sophisticated and very costly, do extremely little damage with them and lose most of those units, over and over, and then still win the game.
Maru made almost no miskates at all that game. He absolutely deserved to win. I personally think other than some few decent decision making Armani and Reynor are simply patch zergs.
Armani is really good at finding your weakest points in an army and exploiting it. I'm interested in seeing how he improves as a player. New fav zerg player :)

His shoulder injury must hurt a big deal because I wonder how he could lose that lurker game. Most lurkers thrown away in GSL and still winning. Cheesing him was just what he wanted. Armani performed better than ever guessed making for some great fresh games.
Impressed by armani. I remember him being basically a 3rd rate zerg and improving through the seasons. Good for him. Definitely needs some work mechanically but his kind of hectic throwing units everywhere style was interesting to see. That 4th game though, he won that first fight due to some good widow mine drags. that destroyed so much of maru's army. That zergling under the cc also basically won the game :P It was blocking 1 of the 2 only mining bases for SOOO long, over 2 min with some help from an army coming in a couple times but still great. Plus all the other lings that also blocked that cc it felt like forever. lurkers did well too in the upper left. Think armani does need to stop those early game pushes, at least against someone as good as maru. They all just fell flat. He defended early harassment pretty beautifully and as tastosis said, is pretty much a mid game player so he should keep trying for that, at least when hes behind.
One can clearly see stamina plays a huge part. That 5th match took all armani had. Yes, Maru's shoulder was getting tired, but Armani was almost shaking, sweat on his face and everything. Cant wait for the finals. Sadly no zerg.
조성주G5L도전 1부 오늘 경기력은 최근 저그전중에서 가장 못했다는 생각이 들기도 하는게 조성주하면 폭발적인 견제이후 저그보다 많이먹는 물량전인데 그러한 모습들이 많이 부족하게 다가 왔던것이 사실이다 만약에 이병렬 박령우 강민수 였더라면 상당히 위험했으며 이기는데도 애를 먹었을것으로 보이는데 어깨가 많이 아파서 그런부분도 있지만 이런부분 솔직히 조성주한테 상대가될수 없는 운빨로 올라온 박진혁이라 이길수 있었지 세럴이나 레이너 우주최강 저그 였으면 이거는 무조건 졌다고 생각한다 이게 성주만에 특유의 연기일거라고 믿는건 최근에 저그전은 조성주가 김도욱 못지않게 태양이보다 완벽하게 잘하는것을 살펴볼수가 있는데 그러한 모습들을 최근에 성주가 완벽한 저그전을 제대로 보여주었고 그러한 모습들을 감춘거라면 다행이라고 생각을한다 첫경기도 병력교전에서 병력을 흘리고 급하게 들어가는 모습들이 있었는데 차분 하게 들어가면서 연결되는 부분들이 전체적으로 아쉬웠지만 일벌레 학살같은 것들은 역시 갓성주가 너무나도 잘만들어 낸다는 생각을하고 상대가 히링 럴커였으면 토르가 힘을 못받았을텐데 뮤링이라서 상당히 다행이였다 역시 이득을 보는경기에서 안진마의 성주의 모습이 그대로 반영이 된것같다 그다음 경기는 대단히 아쉬웠던게 화염차 쓰레기 되었는데 특히 기갑병이 기갑병으로 흔들 려다가 손해보는 모습들은 빌드가 너무 쓰레기라 여왕이 화염차한테 사기라서 컨으로 극복안되는 빌드는 사용하지 않는것이 주효하다고 판단을 가져본다 그러다가 뮤링에서 밀릴수밖에 없는데 뭔가 급하게 마무리하려고 했던 부분들은 어깨통증이 심했던 부분이 큰것같은데 이해는 하지만 신중할때는 신중하게 연결 지어가는 조성주의 모습을 보고싶다
Next gsl is gonna be Armani gsl, but he needs to develop better answers for mid and late game zvt, you can see in this game that at some points Armani doesn't knew what to do, he was literally experimenting
That fifth game he can use banelings to blow up the planetary at upper left base rather using lurk to tickle and the game will not take long 30mins maru will lose and he is to slow on creep spread if this was serral in 9 or 10 mins the half of the map is on creep already

zerg and protoss op to win u have to be a world champ with zero mistakes while zerg and protoss can make multiple mistakes and still win

When u use the drop skill of the medivac click it directly to the medivac not on the ground

I don't know why, but that game 5 is so good. I had to watch that match twice. Especially after knowing the results of first few matches vs Maru.

Armani definitely outperformed expectations, nobody is going to blame him for losing to Maru in a Bo7, and he put up a really good showing. Maru's TvZ is just too good though, its just so fun to watch. Maru vs TY is always an entertaining series, I'm really looking forward to it! Could easily go either way, Maru has the best reflexes of any player in the world and is absurdly good at sticking in games where he gets behind early, but TY might be the best at strategy and positioning, and is probably the most dangerous player Maru can face in GSL.
34:55 how does that fight work? Terran has upgrade advantage (1,1 vs 1,0) and same army supply while zerg has mutalisks, which are some of the best harrassment units. Yet the terran loses a straight up battle, down 20 army supply.

Maru is one of the best players in keeping the creep down but if even that is not enough because he stepped on it for a few seconds then how are humans supposed to beat this? Although I dont even play this game so maybe it isnt such a big deal irl but it just doesnt seem right that a head on army should lose to a harass army like that with an upgrade advantage
@@nemdenemam9753 Couple of things. Maru walked further on creep than pros usually do. Generally they skirt around the edge, but he got greedy after the cancel, you can see he has to stop running and start splitting at the edge of it. Mutas are great harassment units, but the reason they are weak in fights is because they are squishy and susceptible to splash. If maru has a few widowmines there it's a way different fight, but mutmuts fighting against marines that are distracted is fine because the aoe shreds. Finally, close army supply or army strength doesn't mean that each side will lose an equal amount of units. Think about phoenix vs phoenix in PvP, 14 phoenix can pretty much beat 10 phoenix without any losses at all because of how a slight advantage can snowball (idk they actual phoenix numbers cus I never build them but you understand the point).
Mutalisk were just the sandbag to soak damage from Marines, allowing Banneling to roll over and blow everything up.

In the group matches, I could see Maru had a lot of respect for Byun through his body language.

About that game 5, so how many high efficiency, high cost armies is Zerg just allowed to suicide, getting very little done in the early late game? If you lose your costly high efficiency unit comp as Terran or Protoss it is always a severe setback, if it doesn't just end the game outright. How is Zerg allowed to get crushed on every attack for 10+ minutes, but then win the game anyways?

Had just enough money to burn in game5 also remember it's not just lurkers. He had the help of the Vipers.
2 reasons. First is zerg capabilties to expand faster. Second is all those extra larvae from inject. The former will allow zerg to gain more resource than other race. The latter is, well, army productions, and A VERY FAST one with all those larvae banked throughout the game

What seems too strong in my opinion is that Zerg was able to create a multitude of those armies that are both highly sophisticated and very costly, do extremely little damage with them and lose most of those units, over and over, and then still win the game.
Maru made almost no miskates at all that game. He absolutely deserved to win. I personally think other than some few decent decision making Armani and Reynor are simply patch zergs.

지켜낼때는 그누구보다도 말도안되게 강력하다는 점이다 그리고 운도 진짜 너무나도 좋았다 4경기에서 아르마니 박진혁에 링이 들어가기만 했으면 무조건 SCV다잘리고 지는건데 화염차로 길막하는 화염차의 희생양이 너무나도 기가막혔다 땅꿀망 막히면 저그가 할게 없다는것을 조성주가 완벽하게 침착하게 방어하는 모습 역시 조성주에게 날빌로는 얼림반푼어치도 없다는 사실을 다시한번 제대로 각인시키는 모습을 보여주었는데 제일 아쉬웠던건 극후반운영 에서 박진혁에게 완패를 당하는 모습은 유리했는데 유령 해병 불곰 전차만 고집 하는건 상당히 아쉬웠던 모습이였다 어자피 히럴링이 강력하기 때문에 스카이 테란을 갔어야 했다고본다 유령 핵 엎어지기를 하기에는 플레스 오브 골드가
자원이 적당한 맵이라 쉽지는않을 것으로 판단되면 옆멀티에서 조성주가 전순으로 바꾸고 그쪽을 사수하고 버티기식으로 저그가 어떤조합을 섞어도 못이기는 해방선 유령 토르 전순 조합을 레이너 세럴 이병렬 박령우 강민수 천상계 저그에게 보여주려고 아껴둔것인지 모르겠지만 극후반에서 조성주가 오랜만에 무기력하게 패하는 모습은 굉장히 아쉬웠다 테란은 엎어지면 최강의 테사기가 되는데 요즘 엎어지는 운영을 테테전으로만 보여주는 성주가 아쉬웠는데 그랜드슬램 확정 지었는데
그곳에서는 레이너 세럴 이병렬을 상대로 스카이 매카닉 테란의 완벽조합을 보여주었으면 좋겠다 아무래도 전순이 쓰레기가 되어서 모으는데 자신이 없던 것으로 판단이 되는것같다 그래도 마지막에 링올인을 막고 저그가 할게 없을때 그냥 가지고노는 조성주의 완벽함이 마지막6세트에서는 나올수 있어서 다행이였다고 생각하고 생애 첫 4강간 박진혁이 천적 갓성주를 상대로 2점이나 따낼줄은 몰랐다 대단히 잘한것 이라고 생각을하고 다음대회때 우승까지도 바라볼수 있는 실력으로 돌아 오지않을까 생각해본다 아무튼 생각보다 오래걸린 킹갓조성주는 역시 빌보드 전세계1위BTS급 대단한 선수라고 생각이 되어진다 드디어 마침내 1년만에 드디어 GSL5번째 결승에 진출했는데 오히려 동족전이기 때문에 같은 조건으로 해볼수 있다고 생각하고 특유의 엎어지는 식 밤까마귀 해병 전차 바이킹 운영으로 현재 테테전 최강빌드로 조성주가 세미식
세계대회에서 김도욱을 꺾고 우승을 차지 했었는데 이번에도 전태양을 상대로 전태양이 이조합을 깰수 있는 빌드를 찾기 쉽지않을것 같은데 조성주의 대 신화를 최근에 최강테란 전태양도 이길수 없을것으로 생각을한다 성주가 오히려 4강전에서 자신의 진짜 실력을 숨긴것이 라면 연기의신 갓성주는 정말로 대단하다는 것을 느낄수가 있다 이번에도 그의진가가 여실히 들어날것으로 보여지고 중요한건 국내든 해외든 결승만가면 킹갓성주 그자체이기 때문에

His shoulder injury must hurt a big deal because I wonder how he could lose that lurker game. Most lurkers thrown away in GSL and still winning. Cheesing him was just what he wanted. Armani performed better than ever guessed making for some great fresh games.

Impressed by armani. I remember him being basically a 3rd rate zerg and improving through the seasons. Good for him. Definitely needs some work mechanically but his kind of hectic throwing units everywhere style was interesting to see. That 4th game though, he won that first fight due to some good widow mine drags. that destroyed so much of maru's army. That zergling under the cc also basically won the game :P It was blocking 1 of the 2 only mining bases for SOOO long, over 2 min with some help from an army coming in a couple times but still great. Plus all the other lings that also blocked that cc it felt like forever. lurkers did well too in the upper left.
Think armani does need to stop those early game pushes, at least against someone as good as maru. They all just fell flat. He defended early harassment pretty beautifully and as tastosis said, is pretty much a mid game player so he should keep trying for that, at least when hes behind.

조성주G5L도전 1부 오늘 경기력은 최근 저그전중에서 가장 못했다는 생각이 들기도 하는게 조성주하면 폭발적인 견제이후 저그보다 많이먹는 물량전인데 그러한 모습들이 많이 부족하게 다가 왔던것이 사실이다 만약에 이병렬 박령우 강민수 였더라면 상당히 위험했으며 이기는데도 애를 먹었을것으로 보이는데
어깨가 많이 아파서 그런부분도 있지만 이런부분 솔직히 조성주한테 상대가될수 없는 운빨로 올라온 박진혁이라 이길수 있었지 세럴이나 레이너 우주최강 저그 였으면 이거는 무조건 졌다고 생각한다 이게 성주만에 특유의 연기일거라고 믿는건 최근에 저그전은 조성주가 김도욱 못지않게 태양이보다 완벽하게 잘하는것을 살펴볼수가 있는데 그러한 모습들을 최근에 성주가 완벽한 저그전을 제대로 보여주었고 그러한 모습들을 감춘거라면 다행이라고 생각을한다 첫경기도 병력교전에서 병력을 흘리고 급하게 들어가는 모습들이 있었는데 차분 하게 들어가면서 연결되는 부분들이 전체적으로 아쉬웠지만 일벌레 학살같은 것들은 역시 갓성주가 너무나도 잘만들어 낸다는 생각을하고 상대가 히링 럴커였으면 토르가 힘을 못받았을텐데 뮤링이라서 상당히 다행이였다 역시 이득을 보는경기에서 안진마의 성주의 모습이 그대로 반영이 된것같다 그다음 경기는 대단히 아쉬웠던게 화염차 쓰레기 되었는데 특히 기갑병이 기갑병으로 흔들 려다가 손해보는 모습들은 빌드가 너무 쓰레기라 여왕이 화염차한테 사기라서 컨으로 극복안되는 빌드는 사용하지 않는것이 주효하다고 판단을 가져본다 그러다가 뮤링에서 밀릴수밖에 없는데 뭔가 급하게 마무리하려고 했던 부분들은 어깨통증이 심했던 부분이 큰것같은데 이해는 하지만 신중할때는 신중하게 연결 지어가는 조성주의 모습을 보고싶다

That fifth game he can use banelings to blow up the planetary at upper left base rather using lurk to tickle and the game will not take long 30mins maru will lose and he is to slow on creep spread if this was serral in 9 or 10 mins the half of the map is on creep already
