Wow, I used to work there. I remember when it first opened in 1996. I was there working for Buffington Harbor doing security , and then I worked for Majestic Star in 99 also in security , it my second job but I really loved working there met a lot of celebrities there. It looks so different. Thanks for this video.
You are so welcome Colleen it’s crazy how the City can afford to keep letting all these places just go to crap like this. Thank You for your support I really appreciate you so much 🫵❤️😎💯‼️
I worked at the cement plant that was sold off and torn down to build that thing. Watched the whole thing being built as we worked our last years there.
I helped build a bridge and roadway to the casino indoor parking lot. That cement plant provided us contractors with jobs at times. It was good while it lasted.
It was only a matter of time. Both adjacent boats were going without serious renovations and necessary fixes. The hotel was also going without the needed renovations. It was great in its heyday when Trump and Don Barton were around running things. I heard so many great stories from long time workers for both Majestic Star and Trump employees. We are talking Day One people. The difference between the early 2000's to when I was working there circa 2014 was like total opposites. I have nothing but love for the people I worked with, but that place was falling apart and something big needed to be done. Great video! Brings back so many memories, good and bad. I'll tell you what I don't miss, their horrible EDR food.
Who would ever think that a casino would go under? My dad used to go here a lot. In fact, I think I still have a "big winner" picture of him from there when he actually won like 10.000.00. My dad loved to gamble. He would gamble from casinos to card games to carnivals, but he won a lot of times. He was the luckiest person I ever knew. I never gamble but I did works as a cage cashier at Ho Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells for a few years. It was such a fun place to work. I really enjoyed my job. Problem is that those winners were making more money than me 😂It's pretty neat to see this place for me. Brings back lots of memories. I never saw so much money in my life as I did in that casino. The security was tighter than Fort Knox. I saw the keys in your video, and it reminded me that all the cashiers had keys to get into their booth and then another key to get into their money drawer. When you went to break or lunch you had to lock your drawer and turn your keys in and then pick them back up again before going back to your booth. It was kind of crazy because you had to wait in these long lines behind other people who were turning them in to and then back in the long line to pick them up again. Sometimes you waited longer in line for that then the 1/2 hour you got for lunch. We didn't have to clock in and out for lunch though, so it didn't take away from our free time at all. It was fun for me to watch this video, it brought back some of my best memories!
The Majestic Star only closed so the brand new Gary Casino could be opened. Gary now has the "Hard Rock Casino - Northern Indiana." Its a land based casino, not a casino boat, and its located right off of I-80/94.
Actually, they built Hard Rock casino and that’s why they closed Majestic Star. I don’t live in Gary anymore, but I do have a cousin that works at Hard Rock a lot of those people transferred to Hard Rock

I got banned from there lol but it was a favor from them to me lol i won alot but i lost ALOT MORE!! Baccarat seems easy but they will take everything from u
Feel bad for those who lost their jobs, but the city is better off without it. Casinos and gambling is a cancer that slowly kills people. Gambling should be in Vegas. These explosion of casino boats in the 80’s and 90’s made gambling too available. Plus, the expansion of state lotteries did not help. I think a lot of young people are getting crushed in sports gambling. Commercials are on every where for sports books. Great exploration video.
I remember playing slots in there and feeling very disoriented. I finally realized it was just the boat rocking and I wasn’t having a stroke.

I feel the same way, Gary has gone down hill so bad. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Oh my God I didn’t know it had closed so many memories of that place! Thanks Storm for filming
It was a beautiful place Michelle but I’m glad I got to film it for you before it got demolished. 😉💖⛈
Yowza - I remember when both of them (Majestic Star and Trump Casino) opened - makes me feel old lol. Thanks for another waltz down memory lane 🥰😁💖💖💖

@@TheSteelCityStorm I would bet $$ Gary is democrat controlled !

Ahhh the memories in that place hanging out with grandma til 1 am !! Why’s it closed? What the hell happened ?
It's the Hard Rock now off of 80
they built the Hard Rock Casino down the road
Wow! That is crazy! So glad you got to do a cool video. Weird, the power is still on, but no security?? Strange
I worked there from 2007 to 2010, I really enjoyed the coworkers and guests.
I worked there so it was amazing to see what I could remember. Thanks for the video guys!❤
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, Leanna I have many more Gary memories to share. I really appreciate you 💖😘
Cool video, Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome, brother, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😎
I didn't know that the place was closed. There were other casinos around there are they still in business?
Yeah, the rest of them are still up and running as far as I know.
I worked there as a dealer back in the day. Wasn’t the best paying casino but definitely the most fun. So many great memories.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video Jason! I agree, the food was awful! 😂
Oh and the things that went down in the hold of the boat were so crazy. If you were there in the early days you would know what I’m talking about. 😉
This is crazy that the power is still on in certain area
Wasn’t it once Trump’s? Or was the other casino boat his? He sold out a few years after opening it. 😂
Yes it was
Now everyone works and plays at the HARD ROCK CASINO

It did not go under
The owner closed it as he built the Hard Rock Casino on I80/94 down road
@truckerkevthepaidtourist Well, that's good to know. Thank you!
No security guards?
Nope
But, every time I took the Amtrak to Chicago the parking lot to the casino was packed. What happened?
Closed for the opening of Gary’s new Hard Rock casino
They built the Hard Rock Casino down the street
@@TheSteelCityStorm Still in all, as your recorded, a lot of waste with that move.
Thanks paul and steve never been in their myself so it was amazing to do a viral tour lol
Thats crazy I used to go there. I had no clue they had shut down 😮
How u doing brother I remember majestic starts with Gary Indiana I know you're very busy now
What the hell, you can just walk in the place? What can possibly go wrong in that scenario? In Gary? LOL.
I remember being a teenager when this was being built. It was supposed to add more jobs. I can't believe it's closed. 😢😢
It drained as much money away from people as it could before it closed.
Did what casinos do.
💯
was it just open like that or did you have to get permission to go in?
We obtained permission
@TheSteelCityStorm ah ok, well that place looked all kindsa creepy, but it was def.a great vid!
thats Buffington right? Yeah they stopped us from Fishing there!! cause of that place!!!
Yes, it is my man I remember fishing there back in the early 90's with my buddy and his dad on those break water ridges
I've been there when was very nice with my parents. We had a good time. I knew that casino was not going to last. So sad.

Wow I didn’t know there are now closed. Interesting 🧐
They could hold a public auction and make a few bucks…. Lots of good stuff in there
Just wide open ... Great Explore !!! Never a dull moment
I couldn’t believe it was just wide open like that brother Tim until I seen it myself, just another million dollar dump by Gary. 💸
Such waste. Big money = big waste I guess. Adding another sore to Gary. Thanks for the tour.
