- Rjukan, Norway, sits in a valley that casts a shadow over the town for half the year. In 2013, mirrors were installed to reflect sunlight down to the town's square.

They don't make "artificial sunlight" they just redirect actual sunlight
She didn't say it was artificial. She said "this is not the real sun" in which she meant it was a reflection of the real sun
Tourists go there to take mirror selfies
And melt in the process
more like sunburns lol
nice joke no one laughs
Salts
0:01 "This isn't the real sun..." HEY VSAUCE MICHAEL HERE, what is the sun?...............
1:07 ~Hello darkness my old friend...
This is very cool. I heard they did the same thing in a town in the Alps.
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
This would be a perfect anthem for their city
Or "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. They've gotten rid of the darkness and they'd definitely be blinded if they looked directly at it.
"Let's reflect light into our eyes so we can wear sunglasses to block it."
I am a Norwegian and I laughed my ass off cuz I just find it hilarious for some reason
also in Viganella there are sun-mirrors
I just moved to Oslo, I might check this out -w-
No wonder they look like vampires
Agree
Notice the lack of gingers, or are they all Gingers in disguise?
I feel offended.
FakeNorwegian ;)
There is a reason we look as pale as we do. It's because of Norway is just naturally higher in latitude and we don't get as much sun as any other country and the white skin allows us to harvest more D vitamins than colored people do.
Did yall not already make a video about this?
That feeling when the translation that should have said «For me, i isn’t that important, but it is good for the town, because it brings in many people, and that is good. There is no doubt about it» to «For me it isn’t really important, that it brings people here. There is no doubt.» Invest in google translate next time Tech Insider
I know that the city of England is in London, but what country of the city of Norway in?
Norway is my city in Oslo.
texas
Now I know why Haaland is such a killer
Awesome!
Ask a flat earther and they'll say this is how the entire earth's sun is projected.
This is an Italian idea used in middle italy
The idea came up in Rjukan i 1913.
They attempted to set it up in 1928, but the project never pulled through.
The idea came back in 2005.
The Italian sun mirror came in 2006.
Now I should adress that I live in Norway?
I'm from Swedway
How does that town even make money
ikr
money comes from the sun 😩
recycled solar energy. they have done their bit for the environment in just that alone. zero emissions, zero carbon footprint. the illuminati ain't gonna be happy and gonna make an example out of them
Great
Dracula disapproves this
The sun is a deadly laser
I swear this video was posted before
Real life Twilight town in Paper Mario TTYD
I just Saw this in news last week haha
the sun disturbs me a lot
Norway has some crazy crap
Blueberry Squid09 Even do I am from Norway I agree.
Italians did this before.
@@andreabasalto Actually this town had the idea in 1913 but it failed to be done the first time in 1928, then the idea came up again in 2005. The Italian sun mirror was set up in 2006.
you call yourself tech insider and completely miss the tech used by these mirrors that track the suns path and can adjust the mirrors accordingly. fail.
Mirrors not meers
This is absolutely preposterous! There is no mirror or fake sun anywhere in the world. 😂
It's fucking cancer in the comments when you're early here, there's just people saying that they're from Norway and others saying they're first
... and a third group that complains about it.
two of the most uninteresting comments on youtube.
"i'm from (...)!!!!!"
"FIRST"
and "I hate _____"
Tourism = income....
The guy said "For me it doesnt matter, but its good for the place/people/city."
Im Norwegian I have been there but i dont remember any darkness
Because Jesus is always with you, my son.
Why don't they just move
They took the idea from Italy.
GUYS WTF IS THE ANIMATED MOVIE THAT HAS A TOWN LIKE THIS???????
The Simpsons. But that was about blocking out the sun
It's the light version of redirecting a river through building an artificial channel. A solar panel would be like a light version of a hydroelectric dam?
When you have so much money and dont know how to spend them.
Im from Norway
prove it
Satan jeg fikk lyst på en smørbukk når du sa det der.
Men det er liksom bare din mening, mann.
Impressive insult coming from someone with a name so #deep and meaningless that they might aswell apply to join their local DnD table.✡🇧🇻

Late , I've known about this town for years
I would prefer the dark. Why do most people assume their way of life is better? Life isn't a cookie cutter. Money could've been used wiser to attract tourists. I would've incorporated the six months of darkness.
It's been proved that sunlight affects people's mood, health and well-being. Imagine living in a city with six months without sunlight...of course this makes a difference
You must stay depressed. @makocola is spot on. When it comes to sunlight and mood you most certainly can use a "cookie cutter" approach.

2013? Why did it take so long? The Norwegians are innovative. I'm surprised that wasn't done a few centuries ago.

The narrator said 'some of the locals see this as a tourist gimmick' then proceeded to interview a man that said he didn't care one way or the other and agreed it pulls in rhe terrorists.
That's the problem with today's "media" they just "report" what they want you to hear (& think) instead of reporting actual news.
Im from Norway
