I'm dreaming of making a knit wearable item from some gorgeous fuschia yarn & watched your tutorial while working on my second knit project, a dishcloth. I have ten years of crochet experience, and my hands feel like you described as a new knitter. Love your channel for knit inspiration, and enjoy the way you share about your creative life.
I want to knit a vintage inspired short sleeved knit sweater. On your Patreon do you have a full detailed knit along for a similar garment like a sweater.
Hi there, thanks for your interest! On my Patreon discord server, we have a few different community-led knitalongs which are fun and casual. It's not a formal knit along like Stephen West mystery shawls, but more inclusive for individuals' different projects etc. There's usually a lot of garment knitting happening, and advice is available for anyone who asks.
Thank you so much for uploading this! I crochet and am trying to learn how to knit. Knitting feels very clunky and I think my stitches are too tight since sometimes the loop doesnt slide off the needle as effortlessly.
I am not a new knitter but was curious to see which knitting style you would relay. I too knit English style (levered) and when I use straight needles I tuck one needle under my arm. I was taught the long tail cast on by my mom but the way she taught me is different from the way it is usually done. I have never encountered anyone doing it the way I was taught so I learned the standard method of the long tail cast on from you this morning, thank you. I also cast on to 2 needles held together to avoid a tight first row to knit. It doesn't affect overall sizing but simply makes that first row less annoying. I will probably maintain my quirky cast on method - it feels so second nature to do so but appreciate knowing the standard technique. So, despite not being a new knitter I benefited from this tutorial. Currently I am knitting a stockinette stitch t-neck with miles of meditative rows as I just don't have the bandwidth to do anything that requires attentive concentration to details - pandemic overload casting a pall. I look forward to more tutorials at whatever level of expertise - there are always little tweaks that can fine tune what one already knows. I suppose I am an "intermediate" knitter who wants to expand my knitting repertoire - socks, assorted short rows, stranded knitting and perhaps brioche. I credit knitting as being a veritable mental health savior during this global crisis. I think of Mde. Defarge often.
That is very interesting to know! Thanks for sharing your insights. I will probably release some of the cast-on video material as a simple "getting to the point" tutorial, later on. Happy knitting ☺
Hi!! Last year I go my hand on some needles and did my first project. I am very excited about knitting coming from a crochet background. What should I look for when it comes to tools. I plan on spending a lot of time knitting in the future and I’m not sure what to look for in needles or if I should get interchangeable needles. Any thoughts? Thank you!!
Hi Anushka, I hope 2022 brings you everything you wish for, for both of you 💗. This is a brilliant video podcast/tutorial. I hope that you've encouraged a host of New Knitters . There's nothing nicer than making something yourself, so that you can say "Hey look what I've made" . Happy Knitting. Take care and stay safe. Lots of love Jen xxxx 💖 💕 ❤
Hi, ( from Tasmania) Thanks for all your fabulous content I would like to learn beginner lace ,colour work and cables. Some simple ideas for adding interest to a basic jumper would be fun too. I knitted my first jumper top down and I’m starting my second jumper bottom up both are stockinette and plain except for garter stitch stripes on the sleeves of the first one. (Flax by Tin can knits)
