The prevalence of the rock genre in the kpop scene as of late finally benefitting Dreamcatcher, giving them more recognition and acknowledgment. No longer that odd group. Still though, the only kpop group (not band) that uses rock as its core concept.
I don't understand those international Somnias who said that korean somnies doesn't really like rock music. Deja Vu, a 100% certified rock song, is the most streamed DC song in South Korea local streaming platform until now. Bonvoyage also got a very positive response in South Korea. Both song are rock based. Song's like Deja Vu and Bonvoyage, the almost pure rock genre, actually works for DC in SK. Both of international and SK somnias really praised Deja Vu, but guess what? Deja Vu "only" get 30M views on youtube, UA-cam, the platform that literaly a global media that almost everyone can watch, the only platform that international fans can touch easily. I'm not even korean, but "korean somnies doesn't really like rock" ??? Probably we need to rethinking about that again.
It's the truth though, their Korean fandom is the smallest if put in comparison with the western one (in fact they mostly promote in the west) just because is really streamed in Korea that does not mean that Koreans actually like the song, you need to know who actually stream their music, last time when they had a big concert in Korea you could easily notice that a big part of the audience was not actually Korean. The thing is that rock do not sell well in Korea and that's a fact, just think that back in the day even suju heechul solo rock project did not well, DC company ceo said himself that rock is an unpopular genere in kpop and also a group under sm TVXQ if I'm not wrong had to change their sound from pop rock to only pop because people aren't really fond of the genere. Yeah, dreamcatcher luckily gained popularity in the last year but that's because happy face wanted dreamcatcher to keep their rock sound, but once again, they gained popularity during the boca era, their previous eras did not do as well as the apocalypse one, their sudden increase of popularity is because finally people saw how good they are, and Korea seem to be more accepting of a rock sound

I know the reality. I know 90% of the the listener are DC stans (SK somnies), and that's my point. I'm kinda talking about our fandom.
