Some years back in the 90s Doc Holiday was working the counter at Tom Hoovers Alignment shop in North mpls I remember when going to the shop to have them do alignment on my vehicle. Tom was often at the shop and loved to talk about his drag racing days . The shop is still there but Tom sold it years ago before moving I think to Florida to retire and just died a couple years ago . I worked at Keystone automotive for a few years and Tom would come in once in a while to buy wheels from keystone as replacements on cars that were coming in at the shop and nobody at keystone knew who he was except me knowing him from his drag racing days and some of the front office counter people asking me how I knew him and telling him who he was & what he did for years as a drag racer .
I remember the one in Blaine.......every weekend you could hear them miles away!......the high school used it as a way of decreasing the street racing kids would show up at school with there times drawn on there windows!.....very cool times! Anybody else?
I lived near Madison Elementary School and could hear them every Saturday and Sunday morning. Blaine Senior High (Roosevelt Junior High was a stone's throw away and on the other side of Main) was down the road on Main Street. I still remember and I'm 63 now. Went to them schools.
I see 427 sohc; Ford dragster cars in this video . Thank you for this video . I wish I have been there. I spent my time at Brainard international speedway.
i was there for some of the best drag shows ever to be held at that dragway, including white bear dodge, gene snow, mickey thompson, don garlits, the backup pickup, evel kneivel and so many more.
@@fracta1organism I take it there were quite a few then. I attended one as a teenager around that time with family members during the summer and had even met a friend that had been a former co-worker and fellow BSHS alumnus. In '70, I was 9 years old and just barely starting to get to know cars.

I remember seeing the Hawaiian, and Doc Holiday racing there. We ran a 67 Mustang. Did pretty good.

Was "Funny Car Showdown" '76 or '77? I went to that.
