One of my all time fave Skynyrd songs. Once was rocking out to the song in my car, singing and drumming like a madman, until the cop pulled me over for speeding. I told him that Call me the Breeze from Skynyrd was on the radio and I lost track of my speed. He said "Great song!" and gave me a warning!!!
Wow, that’s awesome but also actually hilarious, I literally just saw a meme on the internet the other day that said exactly, “I’m sorry I was speeding officer, but ya know I was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd”. The moment I read that, Call Me the Breeze was the first song to come to mind! It puts me in a happy place every time.

And yet I once read that he still preferred to live in a trailer or mobile home beside the road somewhere. Now that's a humble guy! "Un-burdened by the world" indeed!
Yes! There is an interview with Eric Clapton where Eric states that he tried to talk JJ into going on the road in concert. JJ said he'd rather stay home and let Eric do all the work.
Not enough people know how much JJ influenced Eric Clapton. Eric covered After Midnight. And did an album together. Also Don Williams (Tulsa Time) was a big vocal influence on Eric. Jamel should spin some Cale and Williams. Your audience will dig them.

And to think, years prior to this song, Lynyrd Skynyrd was on a lunch break in the studio when one of their roadies, who was classically trained, sat down at the piano and started playing his version of Free Bird. And just listening to him play the piano on this song, not to mention watching Jamel play "air piano" tells you all that you need to know. Great song, great reaction!
I've been waiting for this one. Had to put the headphones on. This is Skynyrd at their best. The live version is killer as well. I thought Jamel was going to break the chair he was bouncing around so much.

Thank you for the react/review of this song. I once had a friend named Breeze when I lived in New Orleans. When we met he introduced himself as Breeze. I replied “like the Lynyrd Skynyrd song, right?”. He seemed puzzled that I made that particular reference that ended up being right on point. We became friends and pretty much saw most of what Nola had to offer. The day he was leaving New Orleans I asked for his real name to add him on fb. His name was Jackson Bush. After Nola and corresponding through social media seemed to be going good. He was back in Texas with his wife and they were expecting their first child. About a week before his daughter was born, he was hospitalized with heart problems. His wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Jackson didn’t make it. He passed of heart failure. He never got to meet his daughter. To see someone cold react to the song so wholeheartedly it brought a tear to my eye. Skynyrd were one of the top 10 live concerts of-all-time. If you were lucky enough to catch them live back in the day, you know what I'm talkin' about. I was in a band that covered 3 or 4 Skynyrd tunes, and I loved playing their stuff. And the audience loved hearing Skynyrd covers. But nothing compared to seeing them live in their prime. They gave it their all both times I saw them live. Left everything they had on that stage. Damned shame that fateful plane crash took half the band away from us. I remember just being in shock when I saw it on the news. Just tragic. But we have their music. Great music.

😂🤣You nailed it girl!! I saw this pop up in my notifications and thought.... Perfect song and the perfect reaction!!!👌😁
One of the greatest song writers ever, JJ Cale, and some of the best musicians ever, Lyrnyrd Skynyrd! You can't miss!
What was left of the band after the tragedy, formed Rossington Collins band. They pickup up Dale Krantz for vocals, she puts me in the mind of Janice. One Good Man would be a great start.
I like “Fancy Ideas”, but yea Dale did bring a rough and sultry sound for sure.
Gotta do "Don't Misunderstand Me" by Rossington Collins.
Jamel, you lift my spirits every day! God bless you!
Keep em comin.. when I was "away".. bunch of guys formed a band called themselves "skinny lynyrd".. damn good cover band.. was my best day there.. completely forgot I was in prison🤫
Hands down my favorite Skynyrd song.....period. There were soooo many great Southern Rock bands, but this song epitomized the Southern Rock experience. WELL PLAYED!!!!
This song makes my right foot get heavy while driving and listening to this gem loudly. ;)
I can not say how much I appreciate your reactions, and bringing so MANY of my younger day memories! Thanks!
Man. So much energy in this and Flirtin' With Disaster by Molly Hatchet. So similar by making you just not be able to sit still. Like most Creedence tunes, you simply hafta move.
YEEESS YEEESS MOLLY HATCHET, Flirting with disaster, Whiskey man, It's all over now, KILLER TUNES!
@@pauberrymon5892 Don't forget Gator Country!
"Boogie No More"
Dreams I'll never see is a good one as well
@@sigepcane Oh man, many a summer night in 1979 was spent cruising around our small hometown playing Skynyrd, Nugent and Molly Hatchett. RIP Danny Joe Brown. "I'm going back to Gator Country where the wine and women are free! "
My absolute favorite Skynyrd song. You can’t help but drive well over the speed limit when it’s playing.
Still gotta do Saturday Night Special and Ballad of Curtis Loew(sp?)
Jamel I had a blast watching you have so much fun!! The joy was pourin' out of your soul ❤ You made my day!!
Hey Jamel, get rid of that chair brother n get up n strut your stuff. Lol. Thanks for keepin' Great Music Alive ✌👍
My favorite rock band!! Saw them in Houston, Texas in the early 70's. Some of the best instrumentalists ever to play!!!!
Gary Rossington's guitar work is killer in this version of J.J Cales classic.
Seeing you react to this song is the absolute most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time. Keep on rocking and keep up the good work!
My dad's band would play this song. Love it!
My dad and uncle's band used to cover this too! High five for having dad's in bands! I was even lucky enough to have my uncle teach me the guitar, and between myself, my awesome choir teacher, and my dad, I learned how to sing as well! Growing up listening to the classic rock of the 60's, 70's and very early 80's really helped shaped who I am today, even if it was slightly before my time!!
I'm so glad you got to experience this fabulous Skynnyrd song. Many places jam packed with girls dancing in cowboy boots and summer dresses under strings of light bulbs.
Just rollin' down the road, can't even sit still with all the Georgia peaches... 😁
Southern rock. "Uneasy Rider" from Charlie Daniels' hippy days. It's hilarious story telling at its best.
"And I ain't even got a garage, you can call and ask my wife!" 😆
Great song!
"he may look dumb,... but that's just a disguise!" 😅
Skynyrd is my favourite band of all time. Love this track. It's actually a cover. The original is by J.J. Cale. More mellow but still good. Skynyrd improved it
Thank you. Glad you got to it and enjoyed it. It is my favorite Skynyrd tune
Love that boogie feel. ..with that bass, horns, guitar and piano.
One of their more under appreciated songs...Have you done Curtis Loew yet ?
I requested this to him a long time ago...but I know he has a ton of us fans
Love that track
That's a great song too
I haven’t seen it yet. Definitely my favorite.
MY FAVORITE SKYNARD SONG
My favorite all time band . Saw them in 76, and 77
Thanks for giving some love to this great Southern Rock band. Skynyrd was bad to the bone! Another one of their fantastic songs that you’ll like is “Swamp Music”. Check it out. And of course “Gimme Three Steps”. Keep up the fabulous work, brother.
