Most surgeons will recommend total removal of the bladder for 2 reasons. 1) Removal is easier and quicker. 2) there is very little follow-up required. If you insist on bladder preservation it is time consuming and requires extensive follow-up afterwards. Even though the surgeon recommended removal I insisted on bladder preservation and I am glad I did.
Thank you all for this presentation. I just finished my 6 weeks of BCG and will find out next Tuesday or soon after if it was successful. I have been pretty uptight and discouraged wondering if a bladder removal will be in my immediate future, but each of you have lifted my spirits. Thanks, truly. Steve.

Aside from the Dr Wright's slides - this would be much more user friendly if you replace this with a transcript that people can skim for the information - this is too long to hang in with. I did but most people won't.
Rick, You are probably going through hell right now with all the post-op treatments but, rest assured, it will end. I had a radical cystectomy in March 2019. I know exactly what you are going through. IT WILL GET BETTER! I was so fortunate to have the support of my wife during my ordeal. Unfortunately for me, I never regained my ability to urinate normally and have to rely on a catheter. Like everything in life, you adjust to the 'new normal'. It's a bitch - but there it is. I'm just grateful for the extended extra life to be with my loved ones... Well, except for the coronavirus. But this too shall pass away. Hang tough, buddy and if you feel like it, let me know how you are doing. You're not alone in this. Take it one day at a time and drive on! All the best! Jim in California

Hello. I had trouble hearing some of the speakers. Is there a way to enable closed captions? Thank you.

Had two BCG treatments but they didn’t help. Full bladder removal next week.
