All the songs are great but Monica is just so wholesome. I'm SO IN LOVE with this band. Monica Monica Knocking over things Eating chicken wings how do you not love this.
Not only are these young women absolutely badass, this music is amazing. I had tears during Missing You and Never Say Never. As a mom to two teenagers during this pandemic, I often tell them that as we are surviving one of the craziest times in recent history, they're going through it during one of the most difficult ages in a person's life that adolescence into adulthood stage. Hearing these badass girls let out that frustration in such a beautiful and eloquent way is just incredible. Never say never is so powerful, I would buy it in a minute and listen to it over and over. Of course being the crazy cat lady that I am, Monica gave me the feels. I can't wait to take my teens to their show when we finally start getting live music again and they make their way to our city. Not to mention as an insane babysitter's club fanatic growing up, Claudia was definitely my favorite. I have always been a free spirit and she spoke to me. I had no idea this movie existed and of course I am now off to Netflix to see it. You girls ROCK!!!!
I'm a 50-something first generation punk and former youth librarian and I cannot say enough good things about these girls. I'd never guess their ages range from 10 to 16. They all seem way ahead of the ages but Mimi the drummer seems way, way, way ahead of her age. They're all great; the bass player's sound is outstanding. Also, whoever engineered the recording did amazing job.
Ha so true! And I've seen the Ramones a few times (and they were a lot sloppier). Reminds me a lot of early Joan Jet and the Blackhearts in a lotta ways (some Bannanarama in there too). They actually capture that late seventies early eighties crossover period quite well (hopefully we may have spiraled back around to more creative times again). Great snare sound too-and in a library even! As an ex-pro drummer I commend the tuning and micing. Producer dad did good!
I'm a grown asian american woman and have never been more proud to be asian american until now!! You ladies absolutely rock! Keep it up! You will go so far! :)
Why are you making this about race? Did you even watch the entire performance, considering you didn't notice there's one band member who's not 'Asian American'? You probably only got her because of the stupid Sexist boy song and ignored everything else. Well guess what. Your being just as racist as the boy's parents who's actions lead to the song about this boy by making this about race and ignoring 1/4th of the band.

I hereby apologize to the Linda Lindas. I came here expecting to hear a novelty act. I stand humbly corrected. These ladies are as legit as any band I have ever heard, and genuinely better than many. Age ain't nothin' but a number, apparently. I look forward to following their career for decades to come. This is not The Shaggs, folks, this is the real deal.
And "Monica" is not "My Pal Foot-Foot".
Just wait 'til these kids hit their late teens. They will be riding the wave to success.
Who disses The Shaggs? Philosophy Of The World is a masterpiece of artistic weirdness.
@@Toastbastard they're kinda like if the shaggs were all actually super good musicians and songwriters
The Shaggs were interesting though because they didn't give a damn. You're missing a key component here about the feminine experience of expression and the freedom to do so without asking for approval.
@@Toastbastard Probably won't have to wait that long.... www.brooklynvegan.com/the-linda-lindas-sign-to-epitaph-after-racist-sexist-boy-video-goes-viral/
For some reason this showed up in my suggestions & I'm listening all the way over here in Hong Kong. I'm gonna give this to my daughter....I bet she'll love it. You girls rock!
They’re so badass, like they’re so young and already are so unapologetically confident to getting up and doing what they want to do is such a power move.
I would 100% pay to see a live show.
Monica is that you?
I agree though, I would pay to watch this live
SAME
Same here! I see a road trip to LA in my future when they start up shows.
Me too! Come to Boston!!
I can't imagine how proud Bikini Kill must feel right now.
Or the Slits and the X-ray Specs.
Man, as an Asian little girl who grew up on bikini kill I'm proud. Brought a few tears to my eyes!
And bleached
I'm proud and I'm just some random dad.
@@Femnongrata Yeah, I've wept tears of joy three times now. They said persecution would result in art and I've been waiting. Here it is.
I teared up during the Muffs cover. Kim was a friend of mine, I miss her. She would be proud of these girls. 😥
Wow. Old school punk has new blood and life. Loving The Linda Lindas. As a fan and from the generation of L7, Bikini Kill, Babes in Toyland, The GIts, and 7 Year Bitch; my little dark heart is glowing. Hell.....yes.....
The Linda Lindas are super rad!! Riot grrrls helped me through my teens and I'm so thrilled to see the spirit thriving in a new generation! I'm crying happy tears watching you!
These girls are kinda amazing! when they talk, they sound like typical kids. When they play, they sound years older...and the lyrics are perfectly them!
All the songs are great but Monica is just so wholesome. I'm SO IN LOVE with this band.
Monica
Monica
Knocking over things
Eating chicken wings
how do you not love this.
There’s also a Baby-Sitters Club Netflix series.
-A lifelong Ann M. Martin stan :)
I'm a 50-something first generation punk and former youth librarian and I cannot say enough good things about these girls. They are truly punk rock at its best - and finally they give me a song about a Siamese (my favorite) cat with my name. I am amazed that they are so young and so talented. Poly Styrene would have been so proud!
As a librarian, I’m extremely jealous of the librarians who hosted these amazing musicians. They all truly rock.
I am 54 years old I am a woman I was 18 in 1985 total 80s baby and I love punk and I miss it and these kids are one of the best things I've heard in a long time keep on going girls because you are headed to the top
There's hope for the human race, and music is in great hands! Heavy, pure, and mind-bendingly fun...wow, The Linda Lindas just kick ass and make me happy to be alive. Thanks to all involved for making these things happen!
The kids are truly alright. Love that the drummer is wearing a Bikini Kill shirt. Solidly punky and melodic performances.
They cover a Bikini Kill song too, REBEL GIRL.
They have actually opened a show for bikini kill!!!
"Imagine a place without a sky; no where to dream, no where to fly." I love this lyric.
As an old school punker snob from the early 80's, this would be legit in that era and is even more refreshing to hear this day and age. Fantastic set!
I'd never guess their ages range from 10 to 16. They all seem way ahead of the ages but Mimi the drummer seems way, way, way ahead of her age. They're all great; the bass player's sound is outstanding. Also, whoever engineered the recording did amazing job.
The father of the 2 sisters is a record producer of some notoriety.
@@jezziebezzie I hadn't looked into that but I'm not surprised at all; I expected as much.
OMG. I love them. They're kinda like the Ramones...if the Ramones had been more emotionally well-adjusted and less into heroine.
I was reminded of the Ramones immediately. They girls have got it!
Spot on!
I hear they might have been into heroin while doing heroines.
Less into heroin and more into unicorn stickers.
I'm a grown asian american woman and have never been more proud to be asian american until now!! You ladies absolutely rock! Keep it up! You will go so far! :)
So much energy.
Why are you making this about race?
Did you even watch the entire performance, considering you didn't notice there's one band member who's not 'Asian American'?
Punk rock isn't about ones race, sex or virtue signaling. It's about a genuine application of one's emotions on a subject. Whether that is in passion or protest of a subject.
You probably only got her because of the stupid Sexist boy song and ignored everything else. Well guess what. Your being just as racist as the boy's parents who's actions lead to the song about this boy by making this about race and ignoring 1/4th of the band.
@@benv9638 How is that song stupid?
@@benv9638 how dense can you be? The whole point is antiracism. What is wrong with you?
@@benv9638 that other bandmember is Latina. Like me. Some people have the privilege of never making it about race. And some don't because it's imposed on them, structurally, all the time - in ways seen and unseen.
Ive watched this over and over so many times now - and now my daughters are so into you girls and songs now - ill be walking thorough the house and Ill randomly hear "MONICA!!" - what an awesome concert and more importantly what smashing songs!!!
WOW!!! You guys are really great!! Tight band, great playing, great songwriting and beautiful vocals and vocal arrangements. I am really impressed. I love to see the young actually play their instruments and perform as a unit. My heart soars like a hawk.....
Who on Earth put thumbs down on this video?! This is what the world needs more of. The Linda Lindas rock!
The down votes are for the LA Pub library, not the Linda Lindas
Racist sexist boys lol
This is amazing and joyous and kick-ass and reminds me why I love music. I may be 60 years old but the Linda Lindas are my new heroes!
An elder here too. Didn't think this could still happen in music. (Amy Winehouse was the last time I got this excited.) They took the Ramones and put a young girls school skirt on them. And I like the look!!
What's funny about this is that the library actually probably has great acoustics for live music LOL
The massive racks of books probably absorb a lot of the excess noise like the foam they put up in studios.
@@mikecynic5167 yeah
you are awesome....fabulous....thank you for making music that makes us feel young again.
man...somehow this really makes me feel nostalgia... it's like I'm back to the 90's era... really miss those times...
The 10 yo drummer is mentally at least 20 yo. - amazing.
Crazy right? I am amazed she can be in grade 5 like WTF! Very mature and talented for her age.
She’s got the voice of a generation
I was thinking the EXACT same thing! I want to see an interview with all of their parents. They have a new fan today!
No she’s not, she is still 10.
@@FIyingDumpling EXACTLY
the song about the cat caught me off guard, I loved it
I was going to write that we must protect these kids at all costs but obviously they found a way to fight whatever makes them angry. Please girls never stop being pissed about stuff ✊ you're SO good
Agreed! We need them more than they need us.
it is establishment pap
@@us89na oh, honey.
This performance is so inspiring.. makes me have have hope for the future of punk rock.. and for the future in general..
Incredible band. Claudia Kishi is an amazing song, I've had it stuck in my head for days. Also anyone who makes a song about their cat is worth listening to. Rock on girls! 💪🏻❤️
Just when we think the world is collapsing, a beautiful light appears at the end of the tunnel.
My faith in humanity has been restored.
Cheers to every who helped bring this to the eyes and ears of the world!
So stoked! That was great! I’m amazed that the drummer is only 10! She plays and sings great! Excellent band!! 👊🏽😁🎶🎸🥁🎤❤️
blown away by the tremendous spirit and tenacity of these amazing young people. I wish I knew them when I was their age. hope to see you in concert one day! ROCK ON, FRIENDS. \m/ \m/
"I'm missing you" - this is the song I will remember for these times we are living now. Great song!
I CANNOT WAIT to share this with my 14 yo. daughter. We are about to move back to California after 4 years abroad where her piano awaits!
This was SO MUCH FUN. Thank you LA Public Library for bringing this awesome group to a wider audience.
These girls are amazing. So smart, so mature - I'm 46 and I barely knew who I was until about 15 years ago. Their maturity and smarts give me hope for the future. I'm all in with the Linda Lindas. Good job girls and all haters fall back
@David Sasquatch Yeah, that comment is becoming a bit stale now. Maybe try a new one?
These ladies even got praised from Rage Against The Machines. That's awesome.
You mean ‘rage for the machine’
I'm 44 and this girls make me feel young again. Feel like a proud parent when seeing them performed 👍👍👍
Watching this has made me happy. They're so earnest - I'm smiling from ear to ear!
Excuse me ladies, but you dropped these: 👑👑👑👑

@@slavicvolk nope these gals are good enough ta have Bikini Kill and JESICKA ADDAMS onside, they've got a sound of their own, don't like it then listen ta summat else let others appreciate talent even if it aint your cup of tea.
You’re BOTH wrong, because you didn’t begin your statements with your pronouns. (He/Him Him Him)
@Tony Perez ok burrito
Upper middle class punks gtfoh punk is dead
Excellent! Reminds me so much of favorite bands when I was younger . . . the Go-gos, Dead Milkmen, and of course, The Blue Hearts. Keep rocking, ladies!
If The Ramones and the GoGo's had an offspring it would be The Linda Linda's
I was thinking more of romeo void or joan jett
And honestly a more coherent than the ramones 😂😂 I honestly get some violent femmes vibes from them with the ramones sound
@No Lives Matter so you've never heard the Bangles or Watched the Mickey Mouse Club?
@No Lives Matter Yeah, I don't see how these adults are going ga ga for this bubble gum rock. I guess they have not much experience.
@@quychang4471 My reason for liking the Linda Lindas is because today's music absolutely sucks. This music machine where the record company buys top 10 hits and feeds us unoriginal crap from talent less singers who need people to write their songs for them. All I need to do is point to the song Monica to say that they are a punk band with more talent than these american idol voice reality shows where they worry about keeping low production costs. I scour the bowels of youtube for new music on the daily and have found bands like Deap Valley and The Altons, Los Yesterdays, The Be Good Tanyas and so many more that would be ROCKSTARS filling stadiums in any other day and age other than now. They are young and their tastes may change but they have the talent and slayed the ground work for an awesome future in rock and roll! I for one hope to be rocking to the Linda Lindas for a long time. These girls ain't chewing bubblegum!
Just watched the whole show again, 9-months later, and The Linda Lindas are absolutely SMASHING IT. Props!! Go get 'em ladies!!!
Absolutely superb performance, girls! I can’t wait to see where you go from here.
Also, I’d love to see a picture of Monica the cat someday! Amazing song.
I want to thank the parents for their support on this. Phenomenal
Parents are not obligated to support such endeavors. If they had gotten told no, they would just have to deal with it .
wow. "if tomorrow is like today, should we just wish for yesterday..." wow. you just made a big fan. this was just so great.
The Los Angeles Library countdown screen at the very beginning makes this like 50% more awesome! LOL
These girls are super talented I am so excited for them!
These ladies rock! This is the feel good music we all need right now
What a GREAT band! Glad to see the youth not only keeping the punk sensibility alive, but turning up the volume.
👍love how the all take turns in being lead singer
Wow... I'm blown away by these awesome girls! I would have loved to be in a band like this when I was first starting out. It took a long time before I got to really make music in a room with other women instead of being the only woman in the room. I'm so glad that they are getting more exposure and inspiring a whole new generation of young girls, while being supported by the generations of amazing feminist rockers that came before them. This is such a positive example of girls and women helping lift each other up. Keep rocking your beautiful hearts out to the world, Linda Lindas! ♥️
These songs are a vibe! This generation really just has so many new gems
i’m overly critical of vocals. i have these impossible expectations no matter the age of the singer. all these vocals are way better than i expected. real quality and richness in their voices, not to mention they are highly skilled musicians.
if my daughter was doing this at the ages of 10 - 16, i’d be over the moon proud and excited.
never stop creating, playing, practicing and growing....ya’ll are AWESOME!!!!!!!
Completly agree with your comment
While I was impressed with all the performances, when No Clue got going I said out loud "Wow". My wife asked what I was doing so I showed her. She had the same reaction. Looking forward to seeing & hearing more of the awesome The Linda Lindas
Man! As someone who grew up in the punk era. The future is in great hands.. To paraphrase a Star Wars meme "I will be following their career with great interest."
WOW!!!!
Riot Grrrl sound and feel. My faith in the future of music has been restored.
When they gave their ages I was blown away. Just insane what they're making and doing already, it's super great!
I just watched them open for Paramore in St Paul tonight, and I was blown away at how good they were live. So refreshing to see a young Punk band kick ass like they did!! See them live when you can, they bring it!!!!
I am in complete and total awe, actually crying while listening to their epic cover of Rebel Girl. The Linda Lindas, you are amazing!
In absolute agreement (including the tears).
😭😭😭 as a longtime female rocker... SO SO proud and happy about YOU and this music! Kicking ass Ladies!
Greetings from Japan
After watching your show, I am a big The Linda Linda’s fan!!
I'm really impressed with this band! I also wanted to give a quick shoutout to their sound engineer. This sound great!
New convert. What a great show! You guys somehow simultaneously channel the Ramones, the Pistols (hear a lot of the Steve Jones chukka going on there), Blondie, Germs, X, Breeders, Stones, and still somehow manage to apply your own face on it all. Respect.
Kickass band. I'll have to remember to buy the songs off Bandcamp.
Fastest Bandcamp purchase ever!
"Racist, Sexist Boy" is a goddam jam!
