    I like how you consider all aspects of set up, use and storage in all conditions and situations. Your investigative efforts always yield good results mostly avoiding repeat trials of different solutions which is common if you don’t research them. So your reviews carry authority with integrity Stefan and I am sure that (99%!) of suppliers value their partnership with you. Those that don’t show their colours to the marketplace with consequences.
    Wishing you great trips and connectivity when needed

    I have mounted one inside, under the safari window in my Grenadier. Works awesome. Download speed whilst doing 80kmh averages 80mb.

    I completed a 7000km trip across the Simpson Desert on the Madigon line with the OutCamp mount for my full size starlink dish and it worked great. Stood up to the corrugations on the Old Ghan line also.

    5 star rating from me for the Undercover bags, I have one for my Gen 3 Starlink. Excellent bit of kit.
    FYI I use the Ridge Ryder Modified Sine Wave Can Power Inverter 150W to have as a quick/emergency to power the Gen 3 which is 240 volt, on the go. I also did use the Thuraya sat sleeve until the Satellite went bang. I use various power banks (Bluetti, Goal Zero, that have 240 volt inverters) that I don't always have in the car, where as I usually take the Starlink on any trip. Cheers Gaz

    Nice video, here is a suggestion. Google PC Universal Car Cable Wire Hider this will work for hiding cables along the ends of windshields nicely. Nice Video

    Always appreciate your honest reviews so thank you , but doesn’t the mini dish need to be angled facing the satellite? If so wouldn’t you need a bracket that can pivot .

    • @AlloffroadAu

      supposedly not from all research and initial short testing it does work flat

    Just need underkover to widen the internal bag a little more so the Starlink dish and fishy should can fit in easily together. Bit tight at the moment.

    I’m looking forward to hearing how this works for you compared to the Teltonika solution, and which you end up using the most. My guess is the Starlink.
    I’ve been keeping an eye on the Mini since it was released and they’re now $599 so it’s temping to pick one up before my next trip…

    Great info as usual thank you. Did you do a video on running the cable up to the roof including how you used those p-clamps along the windscreen? As I plan to mount my in a similar fashion. Thanks

    Thanks for this.
    Question. Any idea if you had a plan/subscription for Starlink, if you could use two different versions of hardware for the same subscription?
    E.g.
    Home - same subscription with hardware being Gen 3
    Camping - same subscription but using the Starlink Mini
    Alternating depending on requirement at the time, but only using the one at a time for the connection?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  4 дні тому

      don’t think that works it’s device bound

    Hi Stefan, love the video, thanks! Does the StarLink mini dish fit in the Underkover sleeve when the Dishy protector screen is attached?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  24 дні тому

      yes it just fits with a little wiggling (no big deal though) and I believe that Undercover changed the design now to make it fit even easier

    I'm using the same Outcamp roof rack mounting system for my Starlink Mini, but I didn't know about Dishy Shield. It's a great idea for added protection. I'll be getting it for mine. Quick question, Is it safe to assume that it does not interfere with signal strength with the Dishy Shield in place?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Місяць тому

      have only had short tests and no difference research said the same will do some testing in the future

    Hey Stefan thanks for your valuable info as always!
    Quick question . . . . Do you think the starlink will remove your need for the garmin min or epirb in general?
    Im looking at getting a garmin mini and weighing up the options . . . . . Might be a good topic for another vid yeah?
    Cheers mate and looking forward to the next dcs update! I bet it will be similar to a trump clean sweep . . . . Although your victory will be much more expected 😜👌👍

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Місяць тому +1

      Garmin Mini yes quite likely but definitely not a PLB, Starlink is definitely not a emergency 🚨 communication device.

    I think you don’t need 100 Watt at all. I’m never exceeding 50 Watt with the Mini Dish. You could also see on the App where the system parameters are shown.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Місяць тому

      yea thought same but read it on multiple occasion and given 100w plug is no issue to get I bought on will also test with regular PD port in car

    A couple of things, the USB-C adapter claimning 100W, yeah, right, no-way! The dish does not draw that power level, it's only because muppets try using interfaces that were/are not designed for it. SL request the 100W USB-C because it needs to supply 20V which is huge for USB. People, use the barrel connector and forget USB-C. These panels will take 12-48VDC so work well direct from 12/24V vehicles. Power consumption is 20-40W in use, 15W idling.
