A long story to share.... This guy did the drop tank method, I eventually went with raise the truck bed method, which required unscrewing a few wires, one being the ground wire (not disconnected here, I didn't see)
So, after a snow fallen night in freezing weather my fuel pump gave out in a Walmart parking lot. So I tried doing shit there laying in the snow under my truck freezing my ass off. I had someone pull me to a local parts store, closest being Autozone, and proceeded to do my work there borrowing tools and extra hands as needed, thankfully many are willing to help. Although freezing outside. After finally swapping out the pump, total let down it didn't work. So swapped it again, and neither did this work. Spent hours working and troubleshooting, and asking passer-by guys for help and advice. No one could figure it out. After breakfast 10 hours working in the freezing wet melting snow into my back and clothing and several pumps gone threw, someone saw and reminded me to connect the simple little green ground wire to the quarter panel. And Boom, started right up. Holy FUCK ME, this whole time I wasn't connecting the ground wire as it was first I disconnect, so logically last I'd reconnect. Low and behold that was the entire issue as I thought no need to screw it back in until all was fixed and ready to finish up when that being last piece. Wasted do much time, money, and effort bc of a simple little green ground wire. I had no idea it was that important. I always thought they were extra precautionary wires for in case a main ground wire got messed up. Totally sucked and hard lesson learned. So don't be like me and neglect that wire.

This video is top notch if you need to replace your fuel pump as i do.
Well-lit and stable camera work and despite what the previous reviewer said I thought the commentary was succinct and very helpful.

TIP! If you are a schmuck (like me) and need to drop your gas tank while lying on your back underneath your vehicle.
I used 3 ratchet straps, 2 across the tank (in the factory, steel band locations and 1 pulled around the back of the tank. That third strap allows you to keep the tank from sliding rearward as you lower it. I used a jack to do the lowering and the straps as a limiter, to lift it back up, the straps did most of the work. (the straps also make it easier because you can move the jack out of your way if necessary. As you will see it is necessary to lower the tank to access the connections but you can't lower the tank until you disconnect them... Yeah, exactly!
Be very careful and lower it slowly! The fuel pump output has almost zero slack and the rollover (?) valve (large conn. on top at the back end of tank) passes over a cross member and therefore can easily be damaged (disconnect it before lowering more than an inch or so) . I used the bottom of a plastic water bottle and the factory hose clamp to keep fuel from pouring out of the filler tube after removing the hose.
The 3rd strap is the key, without it the tank will continually slide rearward and get hung up on the rear end and will try to slide off the jack. It's tedious since you have to, many times, release the straps and re-adjust but is better than breaking the connectors or dropping the tank. Good Luck!

I'm about to attempt this very thing in a few days. I'm thinking as part of my prep I'm going to take a small pressure washer I have which isn't that powerful and is pretty lousy for pressure washing driveways to give the underside area of my Tahoe a good hosing down to remove dust and roadside particulate before attempting to remove the tank. Maybe a waste of time I dunno. I especially think it would be useful to give the tank a good wash before attempting to remove the fuel pump module from the tank itself. Dust/debris falling inside the tank could quickly cause problems such as "trash in the line" etc once reassembled. Just a thought.

If you run into tank dropping problems like this guy did just cut an access hatch through the floorboard and drop pump straight in no fuss way less work .This truck it might be in the cargo area but my 1999 Tahoe was under the seat behind driver .Just don't cut to deep or you will hit fuel lines or wire harness that and the pumps are about 90 percent cheaper on Amazon got same pump for under 40 bucks .Looks like this guy was in transit and did not have a choice ?

Thank you for all your help this is the biggest job I’ve done so far on my Tahoe well most dangerous job I should say yeah so I’ve been trying to get this done for a little over two weeks, just didn’t have the money for it took a little longer than I wanted it. so I’m just taking the gas lines off and gorrilla taped the openings so it’s 5:30 PM Washington time pacific northwest and I’m freezing as it is winter and I’m outside so I’m going inside where its warm brother. I’ll update you on my progress. Once again thank you for your video.

Yep! You're right. Taking the driveshaft out was worth it. I did this project shortly after commenting. I was surprised how easy it was. Usually the idea of dropping the tank while on jack stands, is a headache, but this job wasnt bad at all once the drive shaft is out of the way.

Could've easily maneuvered the sawzaw to another or better angle, for instance where his camera was located or in any other position for that matter to where he'll get three best cut on the bolt holding the strap and two things ... he wouldn't have had to worry about puncturing the tank with the blade from the saw while cutting which two in turn would've prevented him from doing extra unnecessary work in making that little temporary guard he talked to the tank going it would keep from fucking up there tank... all in all he did a good job om the video even though I learned nothing and wasted 10 mins if my life... thanks bud keep up there good work...?!

    hi bud,
i have a weird issue on my 99 chevy venture. van died on me, i couldnt hear the pump prime on ignition, i changed fuel filter, the relay clicks but i changed that as well, i replaced pump with a spectra after-market, it buzz's on ignition but dont not have any pressure, i even popped the fuel line off to the filter and zero fuel is present, its like the manufacture of the pump forgot to put in the impeller, i called supplier they told me possible bad pump, i removed and installed another new spectra pump, same darn thing again. i have now ordered an OEM pump, we shall see the results tomorrow.
any ideas??? what type of voltage should i be getting out of the 4 pin plug that plugs into the pump unit?
if the pump buzz's on 2 second prime does this mean the pump should be pumping??? did i get two bad pumps back to back.
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I hate videos with bad audios where the person wants to talk so much. Between trying to understand what he says and the “get to the point feeling”. I wont be able to watch this bs
