    The note at 34:58 is probably a mother's day card made by one of the children and was probably accompanied with a handmade gift. Here's the translation in case anyone is interested: "Happy birthday mom (could also mean happy holiday). My favourite mom I love you very much. On mother's day I offer you this beautiful gift and I hope that you will be very happy because I am the one who made it. Mom, you spoil me too much. Patrick"

    The mystery item is used to stoke fires, you pump it to give the fire oxygen. Amazing video

    The brown wooden rings in the draw ,are for a wooden curtain pole ,for hanging curtains up .I really enjoyed the tour of the Castle ,such a waste of beautiful things .

      Thank you for explaining that! It's fascinating how even the smallest items, like those curtain rings, give us insight into the castle's history. I’m glad you enjoyed the tour - it really is a shame to see such beautiful things left behind!

    32:16 Bellows from a large furnace or fireplace...probably a blacksmith furnace.

    • @silenthillsexplorations

      Thanks for the insight! That makes perfect sense - a blacksmith furnace would definitely explain the bellows. It's amazing to discover these hidden pieces of history in places like this!

    "Would be my fav room, if not for the bats"
    That was a good one

    • @silenthillsexplorations
      @silenthillsexplorations  13 днів тому

      The bats definitely make it a bit less appealing, but it’s amazing how the room still has so much character. Glad you enjoyed that moment!

    The fabric on the wall was called a cross stich. It is a pixilated way of making a picture. Each pixel is an X made in yarn or string. It was a hobby women of means often had, and the pieces were passed down through generations, if they were any good.
    Do you have any ability to look up and see if there are any death records of the Lady of the house using her passport? Or her marriage information and then husband's death records.

    • @silenthillsexplorations
      @silenthillsexplorations  13 днів тому

      Unfortunately, records in Europe are not nearly as extensive as they are here in the U.S.. Thank you for explaining what the fabric was!

    At 1:05, if you don't know which country the family is from, I think it might have been better to say "from his ancestors' country in Africa" rather than referring to Africa as a country. Africa is a very large continent, it would be like saying that someone is from the country of South America. I don't mean to be rude, I just wanted to point out this detail.

    • @silenthillsexplorations
      @silenthillsexplorations  13 днів тому

      Thank you so much for pointing that out! You're absolutely right - Africa is a vast continent with many countries, and I should have been more specific. I really appreciate the feedback and will be sure to adjust that in future videos!
