Those, who gets David Sylvian will have allergy attack with anything musically contrived or derivative. His material original and uncompromisingly so. The fact that he never cared for popularity with fickle masses while risking to appear cold and snobbish is self-explanatory. Well, that is a good repellant from idiots. Once hooked on his atmospheric sound and haunting voice one is just staying put. It is a long-winded affair with David Sylvian's music for this fan since the Japan times. This otherwordly stuff was discovered by yours truly in then still looking solid Soviet Union. Instantly bolled over with his original sound and ironic words I found my spot of escape, the promise and the hope all at once. Never looked back ever since. Sylvian have has changed and mutated as an artiust in all these subsequent decades and so his listeners including this one. But Sylvian's canon is rich, diverse and compelling at every turn. So we are set. For life.

Really enjoying this. I was 17 when this tour took place. I had tickets for the show in Bournemouth and it was cancelled. He also cancelled Symphony Hall last year! Really sad I never saw him as his music has been such a soundtrack for my life. Would love to see some video of these early years tours. It sounds so well played and engineered. Have however seen Ryuichi Sakomoto in the Festival Hall which was truly amazing....
Saw Sakamoto at a The Cadogan Hall a few years ago. This was at the time of his a Playing the piano album. Apart from Forbidden colours and The last emperor theme, which both had me fighting back the tears, he was very disappointing. I quite like that album, but in a live setting, it didn't translate too well. I found it quite amusing being surrounded by lots of Japanese people who were treating it all with a reverence, which quite frankly, I didn't think it warranted.

Heaven on a stick! Thanks for sharing, DR.
sorry - thought I'd replied to this. Sept 2007. The World is Everything Tour. Magic! No photos but did buy a beautiful booklet that had some of David's photography along with a samadhisound sampler CD.
Brilliant!
wonderful!
Have however seen Ryuichi Sakomoto in the Festival Hall which was truly amazing....
this concert changed my life
Saw Sakamoto at a The Cadogan Hall a few years ago.
@@MisAnnThorpe interesting!.....
@@carlosalomar7877 THE Carlos Alomar?!
@@MisAnnThorpe You mean producer & David Bowie ex-guitarist? No, I wish!....
You know its gonna be good if Mark Isham is in the band. Fantastic musician. Saw him with Van Morrison too and he only works with the best around.
