Hey John your videos are so inspirational! I did not realize how many Secrets there are in our beautiful machines. I LoVe my Cat Convertible. Everyday I get out there I just take the top down when I can and let the cares just go away but it's like I have a mystery machine as you keep explaining all of the other little secrets that no one would even think about. I do appreciate your videos Good Luck on everything you're doing and keep them coming Love it all John. Thank You Sir! Have a great day!
My Rover 75 has one of these temperature wheels as well, though horizontally positioned rather than vertically. Beautifully explained John (as always); much clearer than the drivers handbook. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for another great video! Have always sorta had a vague idea what this was but was definitely misunderstanding the finer points a bit. Very fun, helpful info. :)
I saw the chatter about it yesterday, meant to check mine today, didn't think it was fitted but........so your video was a very timely reminder John, thank you. Just checked her and my 99 coupe sadly does not. I wish it did! My previous car, a TR7, had face level air vents that were cold only and I prefer it, warm feet etc cold on face to keep me alert. Following your XJ tales with interest. Cheers.
Thanks for the video John, another nugget! I managed to mend my floppy vents a couple of years ago - it’s a bit fiddly to hold everything in the right place with only 10 fingers but has worked fine since. I think sticking phone holders and air fresheners in the vents causes these problems
I agree that vent mounted stuff is a really bad idea. But they are not very robust and can disintegrate even if you haven't hung your iPad off them🤣. Looking forward to sorting them.
you all probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Brody Jeremiah i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Have the same set-up John having a 97 coupe...and have just done the vane repair as you are about to share. Be interesting to see how you managed it, having attempted to fab mini metal mechanism to replace broken plastic I ended up using material from a good quality tie wrap - so far so good!
@@ToTheGarage IMO, overly so. The problem with BMW is that they don't know how to do anything simple. They love over-engineering and complicating things. Complexity and reliability are inversely proportional.

Hi John once again thank you for a fantastic insight into your xk8 the difference between an early car and the later ones, keep up the good work. Bill
Thanks, will do Bill👍

An other great piece of info. BTW Me and My Silver 1997 XK8 Coupe lives in Malta so a big hello from Malta.
Hello there! Charlie and hello all 'Malta folk'👍 (I hesitate to write it Charlie, but is the correct term Maltezers?' It doesn't seem right🤔)
@@ToTheGarage been called that before and do not mind at all. Chocolate coated and soft centered she said..... :)

Always thought it was doing something, just not sure what. My 96 vents are wonky also. Thanks John Cheers !
Thanks John. Well looks like we will both have to fix them then👍
BMW E46 has that control, used it all the time, great feature.
What do you think to the new BMW designs Gareth. I know Im not a BMW officianardo but the current crop of grills have got to make you wince🥺
@@ToTheGarage bring back the shark nose I say!
Great John, have you done a video on that secret dial on the right of that vent yet?
Not yet! (the computer control centre🤫)

The noble tie wrap can do so much👍
. I just bought a 1998 XK8 and I have a lot to learn about the car.
Make sure you get a look at the XK8 Bible then. www.tothegarage.co.uk/services-1
Welcome Robert👍 and I concur with Gary. Read his bible first 👍
well john my x300 has exact same thumbwheel so i will be interested in what you think its for .
SORRY I MISSED MY OWN PREMIER😔
Inconvenient aren’t they! 😂
Probably a feature from the x300 xj6
Quite possible
Virtually every BMW I've had has this feature.
Another sophisticated motor
