This good news as I am a chronic insomniac and get about 3 hours of actual sleep a night. Most of the night I'm in NSDR. It sucks, but good to know it works.
Thanks, Doc. This is a definitely a "game changer". Other sources I've reviewed suggested I get out of bed if I couldn't back fall back asleep within 20 after waking @ night. Getting out of bed actually heightened my anxiety around getting enough quality sleep. I'll oftentimes fall back asleep within an hour through deep rest in bed. 🙂
Who are looking for nsdr? Prob people who need its soothing and calming effect. In this mindset I found your thumnail. You can imagine how cheap and disturbing it is.
can you please break down the sleep cycles and how much of each we need, and why- and what happens if we don't get those cycles? :) Appreciate all you do for us all.
What about the growth hormone levels which enable muscle development in sleep? Does NSDR promotes muscle growth? I have a friend with sleep apnea who could benefit from NSDR if it promotes muscle growth like good sleep does. What about weight loss?
1 hour of NSDR=20 minutes of S.What do you do specificly? Lying on bed+Muscle massage+Listening to your favourite music+Long exhale breathing patterns, That's what you do!
I would add to that trying to find the most comfortable position you can it then being as still as possible. Being still really helps reaching that click in the brain, where everything just slows down.
I spend hours in NSDR during my night. I partially awake for no reason and then can spend a long time in this semi state where I hear everything but I’m so almost asleep I can’t wake or fall back to sleep. Sometimes I need to put on a relaxation soon to fall back to sleep. I’m not refreshed ever and I’m wondering why this happens and how to I fix it
@@TheSleepDoctor I’ve done 2 studies last year but the Dr I had didn’t even remember I was his patient when I saw him so I change to another Dr. She wants to do a sleep study to test me for narcolepsy which is the opposite of my issue. I feel lost and have no drs I can trust with my sleep issues

I know. It seems to do that to some people, while this method seems to work better.
@@TheSleepDoctor Thanks! I'm a dolphin chronotype. Am I actually conditioning my brain to be awake while still in bed?

whats with the clickbait title/thumnail bro. not gonna subscribe with that.
Well you clicked on it, if you liked his videos then you’d subscribe, I don’t think the thumbnail was that bad.
@@jellocrackers9107 The title is a lie.
The video was exactly what it was purported to be.. YOUR comment was misleading lol.
Maybe you just didn’t understand the video?
What was misleading about the thumbnail? I would genuinely like to know so I can do better next time
I needed to hear this I struggle with insomnia 😊

Thanks for all the concise information. Have referred this to others who are struggling to get good sleep.
Glad it was helpful!

Can you break down the different cycles of sleep
I have an article that should help: sleepdoctor.com/sleep-faqs/what-happens-when-you-sleep/
Thanks for that excellent explanation!
Happy to help.
Does the body still secrete human growth hormones etc. during NSDR?
No data has show that, that I am aware of.

If you came in to a sleep clinic I would think a sleep test would be in order. It sounds like the quality of your sleep is being effected.

Is this the same as meditation? And do you answer questions in the comments? Thanks for the inspiring video.
No, this is different. But I can certainly see the similarities.
Sounds like mindful meditation to me
It’s yoga nidra 😊
I think that is a good way to think about it.
Jacobson Relaxation somewhat similar too
THANK YOU SO MUCH
