  • Since making an effort recently to be more conscious of what we are eating, I have found new items at Aldi that are going to be regular go-to staples in my future shopping trips. This week, we picked up some great foods, as well as a new basketball for my husband for a super low price.

    As a family of three, it makes sense you don't need to do huge hauls, and I really admire your commitment to eating healthier. You sound so enthusiastic about cooking and recipes, maybe make more of those videos? Whatever you do will be great!
    Our local Costco carries that Mateo salsa but I've never tried it and didn't remember it from last year. Now I'm excited to get it!

      Yes, please on some cooking videos! I know hauls and taste tests are the majority of your channel content, but by including some of your healthy recipes, you may just inspire others! I know you like to switch things up s but, so just a suggestion.

    Hi Katie , you could do a live either while you’re eating or while you’re cooking or both. People can chat with you and Tim and Benson and ask questions. I saw this on another channel and it’s fun because people can like I said ask you questions and answer in real time. 😊

    I’m with you on reducing processed foods. And I’m using a 80/20 approach to it. We do cook most meals at home and yes lots of dishes but that’s ok. I watch FlavCity on you tube and I use his Bobby approved App. The App helps a lot. Like he says you want to put the best in class ingredients in your body! Reading labels is a must. When I don’t read the label and I just get it I’m usually bummed with the bad oils or Natural Flavors. I still have a long way to go on all that but I try to eat better for you foods with better ingredients. Have a great evening. 🤗

    Our Aldi's opens in May! Looking forward to going there. I recently started using an app to track my food. It helped me to see that I don't eat enough protein. Maybe there is a vegan/vegetarian app that might help you on your health journey to see if you need more protein, calories, etc. Just a suggestion. I was at Trader Joe's today and bought a Raspberry Croissant Carr'e, all butter croissant with raspberry filling. I don't do sugar either but they had a sample and that got me in trouble because it is so good! I love your videos and look forward to the next ones.

    You can make great headway in healthy and convenient eating by starting a house dough each week. Take five cups of mixed organic flour (bread flour, rye, spelt, whatever you have plus some extra on hand), a tablespoon of salt (whatever you have on hand) a tablespoon of dry yeast, some yogurt, olive oil, flavours (ras al hanout, fresh herbs, roasted onions, grated cheese etc.. Whatever strikes your fancy but not exceeding half a cup) mix with four cups of water to a shaggy mess. Cover and let hydrate for half and hour. Knead until it is smooth adding as much more flour as necessary to make it not sticky but still a little tacky. Transfer to a larger, well oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled. Knock it down cover again and put it in the fridge. The next day you can roll some out for naan or pitas, the day after that it is mature enough for pizza or rolls or whatever strikes your fancy. When you have only a handful left, set up your next house dough but incorporate the last bit of the previous batch. If you have done that a few times you can skip the yeast as your own house yeast will be best adapted to your family's micro biome.

      Ok I absolutely LOVE this. I will be trying in the future. Thank you for the step by step instruction, I can’t go wrong following such detail. Thank you!

    • @zeideerskine3462
      @zeideerskine3462 15 днів тому

      @@KatieHespe You can have varying results because yeast dough is very temperature sensitive. However, people have been using such house doughs is such proportions since the dawn of time and you will easily develop a feeling for your own house dough. You can also start a ginger bug and have a healthy fizzy drink around. Water kefir is a bit more involved and kombucha even more. Having a house dough around is a great idea though. When you buy your bread flour by the 50 pound sack, bread prices look like a joke to you.

    Hey, Katie! You're sounding much better with each video. I really like lentils and usually make lentil soup during the cooler months. A quick lentil soup that I like to put together is to sauté carrots, onions, garlic, and celery, then add a nice roasted veggie stock base once it's at a simmer add the lentils and let cook until the lentils are soft. Because it's such a simple soup, you can adjust the measurements to your liking. These are just the ingredients, obviously. Alternatively, if you want a creamy soup you can add a bit of heavy cream and using an immersion blender, blend it slightly so it thickens and gets creamy while still maintaining some of the lentil texture. If you don't have an immersion blender, you can put some of the lentils into a regular blender and blend that portion until smooth and add it back to the soup to have the same effect.
