ONE WEEK TO GO
Honestly can’t believe how close it is to the release now. To try and put my love for this soon-to-be-trilogy into words would be insulting because I love it too much.
Entering the theatre for Vol. 2 feels like it was a couple years ago max - not six. If the person I was when I watched the first movie for the first time (or even the second movie) saw me now, I wouldn’t be able to recognise myself. I feel like I’ve grown more now in the last 6 or so months than I have in the five years since I saw Vol. 2.
Life feels like it’s running so fast I don’t have even a moment to savour it. Friends, obsessions, experiences are all disappearing before I can reach out for them. They’ve come and gone so frequently in the last few years it’s simply become normal. Yet somehow my sheer joy when watching Guardians 1 hasn’t moved an inch. Somehow I can still talk about it for hours, get excited if someone brings it up (which is oh so rare) and go absolutely off the rails crazy if I see any merchandise in real life (specifically of Rocket)
Thank you Stan Lee and Arnold Drake for conceptualising the team. Thank you James Gunn for bringing them to life. Thank you Chris, Zoe, Dave, Vin and Bradley (& co) for making these characters real. Thank you to the writing, VFX, editing and production team who have cemented these characters into history. I can’t wait for the third movie and for the Guardians to follow me once their time on screen is over.
Anyway weird poetry aside this edit is mid at best. I tried, but the dimension size was screwed and I couldn’t add a whole lot of transitions. So it’s kinda simple, but I’m pretty happy with how the chorus segments came out. Apple Music threw this song at me while on a walk one night and from the first set of lyrics it reminded me of the Guardians.
I know my editing is becoming more scarce, but I promise that when I do post something it’s emotionally fuelled and a product I’ve spent a lot of time on, even if only incrementally like this one. Thanks for watching :)
