This song still hit me even now. The song resonates with me so much. The song reminds me of my conversation with God when I am struggling with trials. Then I go to the word of God to stay afloat.

But it’s obvious Lacrae is going through some spiritual warfare and no longer proclaiming to be a Christian singer is evidence in itself. I'm not sure how I feel about this one or not. Yes Lecrae is a Christian, yes I know he proclaimed he didn't wanna be labeled "Christian Rapper" but honestly why. As Christians were called to be his disciples and proclaim his name. Not just say we are and put it to the side. We're called to be leaders and lead people and impact people. Not to leave it. I've listened to Lecrae for years and years. I loved when he used to be labeled a Christian artist. Still love his music now. That's not changing. But the vibe I'm getting from this song is just mixed. Not sure if he's doubting God. Or singing for help. His lyrics "Problems got me drinking, might drown in the bottle" makes me wonder is he turnin to other things for relief. The lyrics "not sure who to turn to or trust" MAN THATS ONLY GOD! WHY YOU EVEN QUESTION THAT!?!? Just unsure of his message in this song. Don't get me wrong this is no hate towards him at all, just trying to I guess figure out his message and idea behind the song because to me I'm confused.

I love what you said and I agree so much. This song popped up on a Christian spotify playlist I was listening to and automatically I was like "Who is singing this and is it a Christian song?" For me, lyrics mean a lot, and that whole bottle line doesn't sit right with me. We are called to glorify God, especially in song and worship and this doesn't seem to do that. Also we are to be careful of what we're feeding our spirits with, because the battle is there. And I'm not sure singing a line about drowning in a bottle would be edifying or safe to feed my spirit with. That's my personally take. I'll pass on this one.

Controversy sells. Pursue Peace and HOLINESS with all people. Music is music. It’s who it is directed to that determines wether it’s praise and worship, or secular. So the question is, who is it directed to? Encouraging songs can be good and a blessing to the Body of Christ and to the world. But, Wether it’s Holy or not depends on the context, lyrics and the inspiration for the song. This song is vague and puts no specific name, person, sex, or identity on whom it is about or directed too. Which leaves it open to the listener to fill in the blanks. Lecrae is not a Christian rapper anymore. By his own admission. So his songs won’t reflect the glory of Jesus or be about Jesus or sing praises to Jesus. Because that would be what Christian rappers do. And he’s not one anymore. So this is a ploy to sell records. Create controversy. And pull sympathy for fans who have left off of The word of God and The Leading of The Holy Spirit to follow someone who is pursuing other things. No condemnation, but these are the facts. 2 things trip up Christians in these last days. 1. Is respect of persons. And 2. Familiarity. If your favorite pastor said he or she wasn’t a Christian Pastor but a pastor who was Christian what would you say? What do you say and think of Pastors who fall into sin or teach error (willingly or unknowingly) for money? I doubt your as supportive and prayerful as a whole (some obviously would). He sold out and mislead a whole generation of Christian rappers who looked up to him. When Lecrae went south so did many rappers and the worlds view of Christian rappers. Secular rappers revered Christian rappers because of their stance, commitment, and unwillingness to bend to the world. But when Lecrae made his move for fame and fortune they saw it was possible for even the righteous to sell out. I pray that he repents. Because the Lord loves him so do we all.
