I've been getting asked if I have any livesets for Boss' new Tone Exchange - and the answer is now YES! I'm working on Livesets for a bunch of Boss devices, and this is the first - the Boss Katana Air - which I've been enjoying as it's a desktop guitar amp that has TONS of effects, as well as what I think is CRUCIAL for dialing in tones - serious EQ options!

Are any of your waza air tones on boss tone exchange? I don’t see many tones on there…. Which is a shame as they’re an awesome practice tool. Or are they available on your Patreon page?
I find it fascinating that you always sound like JNC no matter what piece of gear you are using. You have trademark sounds and are a master at dialing them in wherever. Hats off!!!
Thanks for doing this! IMO, this might be the most underrated piece of gear...
In the past couple of years, I've spent well over 50K on guitars, amps, pedals and multi effects. I use the katana air more often than any piece of gear. It's not even close....
It’s pretty 50/50 for me. I use my 50 watt katana as much as I use my air katana. The 50 gives me lots of bass that the air doesn’t which makes metal and chugging beautiful, but other than that the air is very well equipped and is super nice to have a playback speaker as an all in one unit. It’s also nice that for the size it has a decent loudness and clean sound.
The Katana Air also makes a great direct recording tool. I just plug a stereo cable into the headphone socket and run it straight into my desk into two channels. Sounds great...I use a multitrack recorder so don't have a daw (whatever that is 😂 lol)
Hi, can't you do that through the USB out on the back? I thought that's what it was for, to go into your recording interface then into your DAW.

I have a Katana Air and use it as my living room and travel amp, for which is is great. I have an Axe FX III in my studio and would never compare the two. However, I would never be shy to record with the Katana Air, and it is very fun to jam on anytime, anywhere.
Took me a couple minutes to figure out how but got these tones loaded into my phone and onto my AIR. Sounds great with my Tele and happy to have someone who knows their sh*t taking care of the hard part. I’d be happy to download a similar set for the katana mkii. Have a great day

this is really cool and i wish helix would add an app, generally every modeller should have a app nowadays.

Well you manage to get good tones out of almost anything.. I think the Air looks great on paper I just couldn't get it to sound decent via Headphones for higher gain stuff..not metal but punk rock from California and such, cleans and edge of breakup sound great
I have had both this and a spark 40. I sold the Katana and i am only keeping the spark as a spare desktop amp from the moment i bought the Yamaha THR30ii. To my subjective, honest opinion the gap in sound quality and ease of use is just gigantic. To me, the Yamaha is unmatched as a desktop amp. Pricey though.
The Katana represents probably the best value for money in this sector. I just don’t think it can be beaten.
How does the Katana line stack up against the Catalyst line? Surely that was Line 6’s motivation when they were developing it.

Many many of us own Katana amplifiers and it might be a hit to dive in to amps a bit 🤷♀️
I had an air and sold it. It was great for a while. A little pricey but it was cool. I tried to plug in the wireless unit in to the end of my pedal board but there is like a vibration sensor or something to sense wether your playing and it didn’t work that great and I have to have a looper for practice.
you can change the setting in the app to turn of the sensor so you can use it in a pedal without itself switching off
Wondering if you could do a demo for Katana Artist MkII or/and Roland Blues Cube Artist with GA-FC foot switch.
I really liked the screen layout you did on “My New Pedalboard Build for 2022 - Tubescreamers Galore”.
Why? Because it would show how GA-FC reacts to the patch change on real-time fashion pressing the switch by a “foot” instead of fingers….
Why it has be a foot..? Because it would show if there is a blink moment of silence when switching the patch or if the delay trails or not etc…
It would take too long if you switch it by finger because you need to lower or move your body & hand to press the switch - meaning it would “hide” the blink moment of silence if such a thing exits.
I keep holding out for line 6 to do something with the helix like this. I have the Yamaha THR 30II at the moment.

Yes (well I guess it depends on the headphones) - but the Waza Airs are legitimately the best headphone guitar experience I've tried

Needs to close the aperture down a bit when doing the speaking to camera though - increase the depth of field a bit so John's mug is in focus...... Unless that's deliberate!?

I've got a Boss WL-50 and it's total POS. It can work in barely any environment. I hate it. Complete waste of money.
J utilise un katana air depuis plusieurs années. Il est obligatoirement branché sur mon home cinéma. Les hauts-parleurs intégrés ont un son vraiment vraiment pourri. impossible d en tirer quoique ce soit. Ces hauts-parleurs sont une honte et gâchent vraiment le plaisir et le potentiel du katana air.
