The way headscarves are worn in this video was how we all wore ours in that decade. The late Queen Elizabeth looked particularly attractive in scarves tied under the chin.
I lived in Walthamstow for the first 25years of my life. It was brilliant!! Not so nice now, even Manzes Pie & Mash shop has closed. Lovely, lovely memories. Thankyou. 😍😍
Thanks for watching and for your comment. My father who took this video worked at Fish Bros. Jewellers behind the market from the 1960s until the 1980s.
This market back in the day use to be packed on Saturdays you could hardly move. Now it’s so dead and empty. How times have changed. I use to go market on Saturdays with my mum and sister. My highlight was Woolworths and the pick n mix. Then going for pie mash & licker. Sad to see what has become of Walthamstow market, especially being born and raised there. And how time has flown I’m now 40
I remember how busy it was when my father worked at Fish Bros. Jewellers Haven't been to Walthemstow for a long time. It's a pity to hear that the market has declined in recent years. I have many happy memories of it 👍👍😊😊
@@8mmtodigitalI'm still convinced someone has footage of that market filmed in the 70s or 80s and doesn't want to share it on an video sharing site, including Facebook. Awkward.
@@Scott_Finch Hopefully someone will post one day. The Walthamstow Market was filmed by my father whe worked in Walthamstow. I've been through all his old films and unfortunarely there isn't any of Rathbone Market.
@@8mmtodigital Walthamstow market isn't the same anymore, which is heartbreaking to most people who used to enjoy shopping for bargains on market days in the high street.
@@8mmtodigital it did merge with Leyton and Chingford because the suburbs of the towns that surrounded the original London County Council (referred to the inner london boroughs) had grew and linked with all of the other nearby towns in their historic Essex, Kent, Surrey, Middlesex and Hertfordshire counties.

Hi there,
Do you have any footage of Rathbone Market in Canning Town in the 70s to early 80s that you could upload to your YT channel? Thank you.
Hi Andy, Sorry I haven't any footage of Rathbone Market.

@@Scott_Finch Great shopping area if you're looking to buy a new burqa or hijab.
Please could I check if you have any footage of Walthamstow in the 1970s?
HI Alex. Thank you for watching. This is the only footage I have .
Great market in the 50’s after the war when you could get bargains that fell off the back of a truck
Wasn't that back then when Walthamstow was an Essex town?
Yes I think it was part of Essex in the early 1960s before it was merged with Leyton and Chingford in the later part of the 60's
