- Mike Graham and The Telegraph's Jim White discuss Manchester City's dispute with the Premier League over new rules implemented in December 2021 to ensure financial sustainability.
Manchester City, with significant ownership from Abu Dhabi, is challenging the rule about not disguising sponsorship payments as over fair market prices.
Jim White says if Manchester City wins the case, they will be able to subsidize themselves as much as they want, "making them the strongest financial entity in the Premier League".

@@ymo6096 because a football club, owned by a tyrannical sovereign state, is calling a majority vote a 'tyranny'. A sporting competition is perfectly entitled to enforce its own rules. Nobody is forcing Manchester City to compete in the Premier League. If they don't like it, they can go and start their own super league.

So the Sheik isn't happy with the rules voted for by the MAJORITY of the clubs in the PL so he wants to buy his way around them. A Democratic vote has gone against City which they are having trouble understanding as there is no democracy in the UAE. It's another ploy to try and get the 115 charges cancelled. Of course, footballers were happy to 'Take the knee' but couldn't give a toss about the human rights situation in the UAE as long as they got their salary.

So now we have a club that failed ffp with City back in 2014 which the red media never mentioned. Sponsers who were actually found guilty of sportswashing. Guilty of hacking into a competitors computer systems (which again the red media kept quiet about for SIX years). The crowning glory though the turd on top of that fetid cake is they were massively funding terrorism on an unbelievable scale.
This coming on top of a support who got English clubs banned from Europe for years. Yet they wonder why everyone else despises them.

Nearly all the clubs are funded by billionaires and not impoverished paupers. Many are effectively hedge funds. In reality, they can afford what they want and are able to compete with City if they wish. But they don't wish because, unlike City, they want to make money out of the club. You might say that City just want to sportswash and therefore have no interest in making money -like Abramovitch who just wanted to win at any cost. he did not care about the money side. There are very good examples of owners who have mortgaged their clubs and taken dividends on the back of that. City have never done that. So there are two sides to every story, but sadly, here we only have one.

Well, this is not true. United as Liverpool are clubs built for over decades. And they cant spend what they want due to FFP. City on the other hand was a lower table/championship team that got bought for like 25 years ago with no revenue etc with owners who decided to basically cheat their way to where they're now.

In the official premier league list of highest spending teams over the past 5 years, City are 6th.. behind Chelsea, Man United, Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal. So City's success is not just because of money.. this is a massively important fact because it means that all this nonsense about City "buying" all their trophies is a load of crap.
But still, they cheated, so whatever point you're trying to make is not valid due to what the charges say.
