this is so obvious: there will always be the same amount of red and black cards because this is how a deck is done. Half deck red and half deck black. Therefore the discard stack has always the same amount of red and black cards, because when you discard a couple of cards, you discard 1 red and 1 black always. Hope you understood

A mixed pair contains one of each color. Therefore once all the mixed pairs are discarded you are left with the same amount of each color.
There MUST be as many red as black cards in the disCARD stack, as it must always be 1 black for every 1 red, and 1 red for every 1 black
