In the UFC, Dana White decides when and who they fight for chump change. They're employees of the UFC. The very least the UFC can do is give those fighters health insurance, 401K, and everything else associated with a 9-5 job. Ngannou will make more money in one night fighting Jake Paul than his entire UFC career. That's sad!

Francis dropping some serious inside knowledge on the inner workings. Gotta say, when the friction between the ufc and Francis first started, I sided with the ufc, but boy oh boy was I wrong. Francis didn’t just want money, he wanted to secure the future of other fighters as well and the company wasn’t having it. If you know how the UFC works, you know that the roster changes constantly- some people are signed on short notice for one fight and don't have any long term deal, some for 3 fights, and some have 8-fight contracts. Do you have any clue how much it would cost to provide full coverage insurance to that many people who are *guaranteed* to be hurt multiple times per year? The rates would be astronomical.

These things Francis speak of (in regards to more incentives for fighters) will definitely be happening within the next 10 years because UFC will be on the same level as NBA/NFL/MLB. They can’t be that big and not have a fighters association. Can’t be that big and not have 100% insurance benefits during and after career. Can’t be that big and not allowing fighters to have sponsors. This decision could be the one thing that breaks UFC or at least bring it down to the same level as other fight promotions because the others are actively promoting “look we pay our fighters well”

I've never understood if they are independently contracted, why can't they be independently sponsored? I understand they work for the company, but it still sounds like greedy business practices.
