40 years old and I'm just discovering this musical genius, better late than never
ua-cam.com/video/_LFn99ZEHuQ/v-deo.html
Brain Salad Surgery had an insane cover art, HR Giger and I was so young, but I loved it.
ELP and YES will never die.
@@user-ve1er3sc8jBill was awesome before he sold out to electric rubber drums
@@user-ve1er3sc8jThese two and early Genesis
This is like listening to Buddy solo! Certainly one of Carl’s influences. He’s just incredible here and always.
Close your eyes, folks and listen to Carl Palmer, the finest drummer of his generation.
Peart
In this situation better watch that
lololololol so, you don't play or understand drums eh? there is no best in music. its not a sport. if it was, i could show you were carl fails.
@@66mmpowGet real with his African cap on, he can't play this speed 🤣
@@m42037Maybe, but can Palmer play as complex as Peart? Could Palmer look at the solo from any of his songs and get it? Let alone the fact that Neil used Cowbells, Gongs, Wood Blocks and other bigger orchestral instruments. Neil also used the electronic pad. I also really like Palmer, but Peart was more diverse. How about Carl put his shirt back on?
I have never seen this before. This is the most incredible drumming I have ever witnessed! He's pushing 70 now I think and he still has it! Bless you Carl palmer for sharing a wonderful gift.
He's seventy-three years old😊
I grew up in the 70s.
Never heard a drummer or a group of musicians like this. Awesome!
ELP will forever be with me.
I actually got to see them twice, and those memories are fixed.
I don't see how it can get any better than this.
But it _does._ This is young Carl Palmer. The man was just getting started.
I am so glad I had a chance to see ELP in the ‘70s and ‘80s, younger years. Palmer solos were incredible. Keith Emerson was crazy on stage, with that incredible classical rock music.
Without question, the most thrilling drummer I have ever seen.
His solo at the Boston Garden around 1980 split the sky open.
Truly an inspirational artist.
This is one of my favorite drum solos ever. Carl Palmer is a fucking animal.
Geniuses at work.
Unreal speed and technique.
Keith Emerson is absolutely insane, lol. i'm glad i saw them in the early 90s at Blossom music venue.
Fr dude what was he on?😂😂
MY ALL TIME FAVE DRUMMER
20 years old...a monster on the drums
No better rock drummer than Palmer, period.
I had the once in a lifetime opportunity of watching Carl Palmer perform w/ the band in Nashville on a kit that was beyond extraordinary. Honestly, it is difficult at best to imagine the focus, skillset and ultra dedication that combine in an individual in order to perform at a level several atmospheres above ground level. I wont rate a percussionist at this level; that would just be arrogant.
Carl Palmer, simply the best ever!!!
Buddy Rich, Palmer, Bonham, Collins, Peart & Bruford. The best drummers of all time.
Exceptional list!
What’s about erskine or bruford?
Cozy Powell ?!?
I don't agree with Bonham
Gene Krupa?
My top drummer of all time.
Excellent solo and one of my favourites. Carl Palmer’s snare work has always been on point.
-Carl Palmer playing a solo:100% beast mode;
-Carl Palmer playing a solo shirtless:101% beast mode.
Carl Palmer,A.K.A.the Evolution of a Drum Beast!
Best drummer since Buddy Rich. Straight up.
BETTER.
He's the Buddy Rich of rock music!
NO ONE DRUMMER LIKE HIM . . .HE'S THE LEGENDARY DRUMMER IN THE WORLD
Best drum solo ever -by anyone !!!
It’s amazing, but I do beg to differ. I think it could go to any of Neil Peart’s solo’s or Toad by Ginger Baker. Also, any of Buddy Rich’s solo’s are up there. All fantastic drummers.
The sound quality of this video is fantastic hats off to the sound Engineer
The Best , this is the Best Drummer Composition Ever , Live !!!
I saw Carl Palmer Montreal Forum with ELP my God loolololoool
Excellent rudiments and control of dynamics, Palmer is an awesome player.
Welcome back my friends, Thank you Carl Palmer,I am a lucky man to have witnessed your Bliss!!!
One of the best drum solos ever👍i saw ELP live in 1971 in Nürnberg, Germany✌
GENIUS!! My inspiration, thanks for him I hold a pair of drum sticks today. Thank you Carl Palmer.
I heard this INCREDIBLE Group ELP in KC in 1979 Kemper Arena!!!! Fantastic light show and this man....Carl Palmer! 🥁
1st.....I played my first paying gig at age 11. I knew drums before I could spell it. Even in primary school I knew. I eventually played professionally for 25 years, backing legends like Chuck Berry, Four Tops, Temptations etc. I Loved, LOVED, Ringo, Moon, Kenney Jones, and Ginger, then eventually, the best drummer ever in the world of Rock, John Bonham. However, I also knew Buddy, Morrello, Krupa etc and knew that the old drum technicians, with the rudiments used in Scottish Pipe Bands etc, were more technically accomplished than my heroes in the 60s. The first time I saw Carl Palmer I knew that I had heard the drummer that bridged the gap between the generations! From then on my inspirations changed. Carl is the Man that changed things from 60s pop to 70s Rock and the future. Every generation learns from the one before. But Carl learned from the one before the one before!
I really love CP, I can never see any weak parts in his drumming
This is why more exciting that watching a drum solo comprised of jungle rythems, disco beats, & fills at the end of every four measures.
In the seventies he one every drum p o l l for the entire decade. Naturally since ELP broke up in 1979 the young people of today that vote never really got to experience him😊
Opino lo mismo. En esos "listados" aparecen tipos como Tommy Lee o Steven Adler. O sea, esos son mejores q Palmer???!!!! Cualquiera!!!!!
Once in a while you go back and listen to the “old stuff “ again, what a great band they were, I never tire from watching/listen to them.
ELP that's when it started for me. Had the privilege to see The Carl Palmer Nov 26th 2014 it was excellent ,outstanding , amazing , wonderful , ...etc...etc.
What is he doing????!!!! Carl Palmer is absolutely amazing, phenomenal!!!!!! And please, look at Keith Emerson!! I am so glad to have enjoyed them live twice, in the 90s. Definitely this band had two of my favourite musicians ever - Carl Palmer and Keith Emerson
Between Bonham, Baker, Moon, and Palmer. my vote will always go to Palmer.
Don't forget Ian Paice!
And Bill Bruford
Between all of those my vote will always go to Buddy 'Mr. Drums' Rich, widely regarded by most major drummers as the fastest human being that ever lived! 😉
Stuart Jeffries billy Cobham!
Or Collins
Saw them at the Spectrum in Philly. Whatta show!!!!!!!!
He is still great now but like Bonham at age 20 which I think he is here just absolutely brilliant. I had this concert on tape as a kid. Great teaching aid. Without doubt one of the best technical rock drummers of all time.
The best, you wish you could play like this lol
The first time I heard the solo of Carl Palmer (1st. LP of ELP) was in summer 1970. I was in this time 13 years old and the radio playd the solopart. So I put away my violine and decided to play drums. Now I'm 58 years old and I play with two bands. I also learned piano and many years ago I put out my violine and also play it again.
It's "violin."
Hope you're making money, I'm 58 also and imo it's way too much trouble for 2-300 bucks on The weekend, all the driving, setup, tear down forget it. Now going to jam nights that I might start doing again just bring your sticks. And pizz off the drummer and put his ride cymbal on the left side lol
Sometimes there r no wordz. This is one of those times.....
I've never heard of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, but this drummer is phenomenal!
Well boy, now you've been introduced. I'd suggest you explore and experience the world of ELP, along with YES and early Genesis, IMHO some of the best and most innovative music ever created!
+Michael Clonts Agree.
years and decades have flown by like one moment.
this music is my Life.
I love this music and that is logical ...
My first drum hero, along with Free, Grand Funk, Deep Purple, then, I was turned onto the other English Progs, Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Then Mahavishnu, then Return To Forever and Gary Burton and the Miles Davis bands, the ECM stuff, Oregon , etc, etc, and the rest is history.. I love it all
Yes, great great solo, but the title is spelled "T.N.U.C." :)
ELP. Carl..the last standing. So fortunate to see them in '78. Great upload. THANX
I'm one of the fortune people to know Gregg Lake and Keith Emerson in person as friends and playing live on stage with both of them.
What a God Sent Genius. Not just musicality, but even the physical ability that goes with it. My God! This is amazing performance by any standards. I don't believe I've seen better from 1970 till 2016!
Alofzico reading this in 2019 thinking you saw a better drummer in 2016
he was and still is great .!
Respect for mr Palmer
These guys are fucking crazy awesome!
The best drums solo ever.
don't be daft.
@@morbidmanmusicwhy don't you just say don't be silly or don't be foolish? No one is impressed with your skull head or your dumbass vocabulary. Compared to a genius like myself you come off as stupid😅😅😅😅😅
Each of his limbs had a mind of their own!!!!!!!
i only recently got into elp, around 5 months ago (not gonna lie, it was to impress a girl. turns out she's much older anyways and has a boyfriend) but i still don't regret giving it a listen. i'll be fourteen in less than a month, which makes me sad because if i had gotten into elp any earlier i still wouldn't have had the chance to experience the music. although, i was lucky enough to meet carl three weeks ago, which i will always be grateful for. i just wish i could tell keith how his music has helped me stay strong. if it weren't for elp, i doubt i would even be here. when i first got into them, i was finally about to cut off ties with my abusive father, and my mental illness was getting a lot worse. but listening to elp made me feel like i'd never felt before. i truly felt appreciated and loved. so, thank you keith. i'm gonna miss you.
Killer queenie, thanks for sharing such a personal and poignant story. I hope you have lots of outside support? It goes to show how much music can affect our lives. Bless your heart. Stay strong and keep listening to ELP!!!
Underrated for sure . Also Phil Collins with his early Genesis and his Brand X band works with John Goodsall & Percy Jones
¡¡¡FUUUL Single Rolls, extense double strokes rolls and paradiddles !!!! Yeaaaah!!!
Those single stroke rolls are the hardest to master , many drummer's do "buzz rolls" or double stroke whatever. I can smoke single strokes but run out of gas quick this is 2× John Bonham
Emerson Lake And Palmer---- Live In Switzerland -------!
Happy Birthday----!!!!!
Best drummer ever
Carl Palmer one of the greatest for sure, both amongst rock and jazz drummers. But Keith Emerson was one of the best keyboardists ever. Him and Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman. All incredible.
He’s amazing!!
John Bonham was hands-down the best on the downbeat, and Bill Bruford on the up-beat, but Carl Palmer for precision and technique is unsurpassed. Amazing what he has done in the years following.
..excuse me, but...ian paice, phil collins, ginger baker, cozy powell.... ..what they was, for you,..football players?
Greg, I agree. All the other drummers mentioned in the other comments are outstanding in their own way...the Rock drummers. (I wouldn’t include Billy Cobham in that group...we’re talking about Rock drummers...) Carl Palmer was and still is a technical virtuoso in the classic style - the Buddy Rich school of blistering technique and flawless execution...delivered with maximum bombast, but also musical dynamics. I think Ian Paice comes closest...he’s also got incredible technique particularly in the hands. He and Carl have the best single stroke roll in the business. Just LOVE Mr. Palmer’s playing here! And BTW, how do you become so accomplished on your instrument at, what...20 years old?? Virtuoso.
JOHN BONHAM SOLE LE PEGABA FUERTE A LOS TAMBORES, SIN PRECICION NI TALENTO
@@jamestcallahanphotographerTons of practice and love for your instrument! I'm 58 and started playing in the 80s, I can't play like this guy, even when he was 20 he blew me away today like I'm a beginner 🥁
Barriemore Barlow
Phenomenal technique
Carl Palmer is the best!
The best live drumming I've ever seen was CP on ELP's "Black Moon" tour---like a robot gone haywire!
HI SA! I'm at it, again -- trolling through ELP videos and posting R&RHOF Nominating Committee info! It's gonna work...b/c the effort is gaining momentum and support of some VERY important people. It's ELP's year (for induction in April 2019)!!!! I think I will make Black Moon my ELP album of the day! Have a great one!
He is one of the greatest of all times, amazing
Este es uno de los mejores solos de bateria que he visto nunca
Great! It is fantastic! Incredible!!!!!
I think I subliminally contracted epilepsy watching this.
I can't believe he was only 20 years old back then!
We were all 20 years old once in our lives it goes fast. He looked better with long hair for sure
Wonderful!
The best.
CARL PALMER is so freaking awesome. How his name doesn't come up in the top ten drummer lists is disgusting? He's the best drummer of all time except BUDDY RICH. Too bad LED ZEPPELIN didn't tap him after the great JOHN BONHAM died and continued. He would've been great for them.
Oh Yeah, he was great too. He played with JOHN McLAUGHLIN in the MAHAVISHA ORCHESTRA.
Neil Pearts 2 biggest influences, Buddy Rich, Carl Palmer
That speaks for itself that a drummer as great as NEIL PEART was influenced by these two awesome drummers.
what about ginger baker? Peart has even said in interviews that his idol when he was younger was ginger
you forgot about Mitch Mitchell
Casualmente ho visto questo video ora...che dire estasi totale quei fenomeni irripetibili unici geni grandi miti indistruttibili...
fantastic
Phenomenal.
Taking the shirt off and keeping it in time with that erratic rhythm; priceless. It seems he was sweating more in 1970 than he is today. LOL
Damn...that was fucking awesome
Where does Palmer get all that energy from? Amazing!
He was only 20 years old here. He's 66 now and still has incredible stamina.
his hair , it went when he cut it off !
drummers are born that way
Agreed!
One of the best quotes I've ever seen
Carl Palmer was ahead of the times.
best drummer ever!
OMFG!!! AMAZING!!! O_O
Back when music was made musicians, just jaw dropping stuff !!
oh don't be ignorant. turn off your car radio.
And to think, this young man was just getting started, just warming up. Years with ELP and then Asia would turn this mere mortal into a drumming GOD.
Incredible.
F E N O M E N O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carl Palmer is unquestionably the absolute best drummer in rock as well as one of the best in the entire world. Long live CP
His technique is unsurpassed in rock/prog drumming.
Carl best drummer for all history progressive rock music
@nightheme 365 o yeah
This would have been an awesome video without all the stupid effects. I wanted to see a video of the great Carl Palmer. Carl was and is one of the best.
I agree, effects dumb.
you prolly dont care but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.

@Orlando Ty it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
So he's doing parts of the "buddy rich impossible solo"
Damn
Best drummer ever...Carl Palmer.
Genio por siempre!!! ❤
Carl Palmer, was then, and still is one of the Greatest behind a kit. Fortunate that even though I'm gettting up there, all that means is that I was able to see these guys a few times in their prime. And as for Keith (RIP) he was one of the top keyboardist of any time. Find a copy of the Nice's "Everything as Nice As Mother Makes It". It picks you up, throws you against the wall, and demands you listen to it. And you will, repeatedly.
Happy Birthday Carl Palmer!!!
Everybody owned that day-glo poster (@ 0.31) in 1969, including me,
along with the obligatory black light. Memories.
This, is underrated af
