Are you going to be using your Android Phone as a webcam? Let me know if you're going to us it as a primary camera or a secondary camera?
Thanks for this video. I'm new to OBS and was looking for a way to use my phone's camera as a sort of microscope and also to record my work when doing electronics repairs. This video really helped!
how much processer power required?
@@directajith there aren't any specs about that on the website and I haven't done any testing on that, but I can tell you it's VERY little...
Just want to know buddy is pro version improved video quality while recoding in obs....????? 🤔 🤔
@@Apbrands you get higher resolutions. Yes.
I know I am 2 years late but still one of the best videos on the software I have seen and found. Thank you.
Love that you found it helpful!
That tip about the remote is a life saver! I'd be struggling to try and set it up without constantly having to spin my phone back around. Thank you!
I'm glad I remember to add that feature in! I almost uploaded the video without mentioning it!
Bruh you're a life saver. I'm about to cover a live event in our school. I don't have any camera aside from my phone. Thanks to you, I was able to use my phone as a camera in OBS while I stream our school event live. You obtained a subscriber 💕
Stress free and easy to follow tutorial - got 2 phones ( apple and android ) ready to use for live streaming and recording my dj sets.
Thank you sir ! 🙏
Here 3 years late, but thuis video helped out a ton. subscribed and definitely checking out the rest of your content. Thanks sir
As a beginner to this, I REALLY appreciated this step by step tutorial! You made it very simple and easy to understand. Thank you!
I'm so glad you found the tutorial super easy to follow along with! I will have more content up soon. My wife and I just had a baby and my wife's health hasn't been spectacular, so I've been busy taking care of her and other life things. But she seems to be getting better, so more videos soon to come!
Woah? Only 90 Subs For Such Clean Content? Have Another.
p.s i love the transitions, they're really smooth, well designed, thumbs up.
Thanks! I really appreciate it! I haven't been able to upload anything recently because of some health things going on in my family, but I'll hopefully be getting some things up in the next little while, so stay tuned :)

That was very, VERY helpful. Thanks! I have like 3 ("older") phones lying around and no joy in buying 3 cameras (piano streaming here, so more cams appreciated).

haha, the problem for me was that the "activate" button was off screen and I didn't realize you had to scroll down to see more options. Was driving me crazy ^_^
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH WHERE WAS THIS TUTORIAL 2 YEARS AGO LOL
I have been looking all over youtube on how to do this thank you so much!!!!
So glad that I was able to help you guys out! Stay blessed, y'all!
Awesome!!...Four (4) thumbs up, man...For reason of my having to piece together all the information that I am looking for. I have had to look into so much information from so many different sources...Dude, you said it all in one video!...'USB Cable Connect', 'Ease of Remote Capability', 'Plowing Through to Find a Mistake' (12125- so funny)...No, You Rocked It! I am installing this mug right now...Thanks!
Glad you liked it! I'm the kind of guy who doesn't like to leave information out in the name of just getting a video out. Been having some life stuff going on lately hence why I haven't had anymore uploads in a while, but things are FINALLY™ settling down, and I should be getting videos up more regularly. I had the goal of one video per week, but after some health issues with my wife sprang up, I'm going to have go shoot for about 2 videos a month (or one every other week). So let me know what you want videos about. I have some ideas, but I want to give you guys the information that YOU want.
Ok great!...Thanks for sharing the information about the health issues with your wife that you are going through. Now my family and I will know how to pray for you...Hang in there, Salta92- And Rock On!

Thanks! I hope that I can help as many people as possible!
I mean you need AMAZING wifi. I have good wifi and I filmed an entire video with edits and uploaded it only to be shamed by lag and glitchy reactions.
Wired connections are always going to be better than a WiFi connection.
I'll be putting out an updated tutorial this week. I'll try and go over some troubleshooting steps for things like this. I don't have amazing wifi, but it works reliably for me. But a wired connection will always be better.
Much helpful, good walkthrough - not often tutorials match step for step what's gonna happen on other peoples screen ^^,
I appreciate that! Thank you :)
Hopefully, all these apps/plugins wont be needed on Android 14, since it will introduce camera as UVC device protocol. Like iOS and some Android brands already do.
That will be the most amazing day of my life! 😭
The android lag is insane. Everytime I try and record a video every 10-20 seconds I get lag and I don't even know until I'm editing. It sucks.
You might try adjusting the bit rate. That helped me. USB also generally runs smoother.
Awesome editing. Awesome information. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
You know how to talk thank you!
Most important thing was not to install obs droidcam plugin while obs is open 👐
My mama taught me at a young age to talk, and I've never stopped xD
Awesome job 👍
Amazing Content Bro Keep up Solider
omg you need 10000000 subs you are amazing

I tried this a couple years ago and it was terrible, just a black hole of bugs. I ended up using an iphone which worked great.
I tried it a few years ago too and ran into the same problems. But it has gotten WAY better since then, hence the video. I wouldn't make a video about something that didn't work xD
For the love of god, please use the full abbreviation before the shortened form. Not everyone knows what an OBS is.
Thanks
You're welcome!
Thank you so much bro.
Great video. Thanks
Glad you liked it! It's actually an older video, here is a more recent on if you are using OBS 28 or newer. ua-cam.com/video/UkQ3UKnHeiA/v-deo.html
Very helpful! Thank you!
Wow thank you, actually helped me so much :D
Glad you found it useful!
Great video! Is it possible to use the "webcam remote" to choose one of my phone's cameras? E.g. I have a secondary wide-angle camera that I would prefer. Also, what frame rates can you get our of it through wifi and usb? E.g. I would hope for FullHD 60fps via usb. Is it reachable? Do you have experience with longer usb cables? Would it work above 3m or is the attenuation of the signal too strong? Thanks a lot for the video and for any answers.
Lots of great questions here. If you pay the one time fee for the pro-version ($12.99USD) Then you get access to 1080p60fps. WiFi, I can get full resolution over wifi no problem. You might need to adjust your bitrate to accommodate slower wifi, but you can definitely get full resolution from it. USB cables, if you go longer than 3m you might need a beefier cable with better data speeds, but you should be fine.
Amazing stuff mate
Awesome! If you don’t mind what type of web-com you were filming this video with . Thanks!
Logitech Brio
I'm definitely considering returning a Razer Kiyo Pro that I just ordered. I was wondering if the phone overheats/lags if streaming for a long time. Like 6+ hours. Thanks
It shouldn't. But if you notice lag, you can always go with USB.
I have an updated tutorial here with a bit more information about that here ua-cam.com/video/UkQ3UKnHeiA/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing. Its really helpful and I will try it. Do you think this work with FACERIG as well?
I don't know anything about facerig, so I can't help.
Not working... My old Samsung phone won't allow the camera use and keeps asking transferring files when connected through USB. all settings already as in video.
Sorry about that. I'm going to be putting out an updated tutorial this week since OBS 29 has come out, there are a few things that are different.
hello sir. this video has been so helpful for my church. we are now using two phones and 2 ptz cameras for our church broadcast. the issue we have is that on the phones the images tend to lag. is there anyway you can help.
thank you works I'm happy
I do the same things you do , but pc didn't connect to my phone by usb , there is wifi logo but ther is no phone name , please help
Make sure that you're using the port number that is shown in the app to put into the plugin inside of OBS.
really awesome video
Thanks! I super appreciate it! I have a few videos that I'm working on right now since my life is finally calming down, so let me know if there is anything you would like to know about streaming, tech, OBS, etc. :)
@@thesalta72 For sure thanks

Are you trying to connect over USB or WiFi?
well done mate
Thanks!
thank you so much this worked perfectly!
I'm so glad! Let me know what you would like to see in future vids!
So how does you phone do when you start streaming? Does it drop frames? Lag? What are some "starter settings" for streaming in OBS with you phone as the webcam?
I have an updated tutorial here that talks a bit more about it.

This is the best tut I've seen on this. Any updates on the follow up video for using your pixel as a web am in other apps?
You're the first person to ask! I have been absolutely swamped here lately with my wife having had a baby and her health not being super well. But I have a new video coming out this weekend, and then I will upload the video on how to used your phone as a webcam in other programs :)
@@thesalta72 right on!
Congrats on the baby & hope your wife feels better soon :). Take care & whenever you can, I would like to see a tut for other apps too.
I'll be sure to let y'all know when that video is up!
Thank you so much
Uhm... Why is everyone else's working properly but mine... I just want to use USB. Wrong cord maybe? Is it Type C to Type C?
You can use any USB cable. I have an update tutorial as well that you can see here. ua-cam.com/video/UkQ3UKnHeiA/v-deo.html
thanks for sharing, I follow the process with my macbookpro and smartphone OPPO... but I got a black screen.. Any particulaire reason ?
Not sure. There are a few things that could cause that. But without knowing the specifics, I wouldn't be able to tell you. You're welcome to join the discord and we can try and help there :)
well explained
😀
Glad you think that! I hope you enjoy my other videos as well :) And let me know if there is any video that you would like me to make!
"droidcam OBS" Does not show up in the menu when I try to add it as a source.
Plugin probably wasn't installed correctly. Try reinstalling and let me know. You can also join the discord and I can try and help you there!
I found this to be super informative. Thank you very much! Why do I not see the AF option on the remote toolbar? I am using OBS version 27.2.4 (64 bit). Phone is Moto e5.
I'll be putting out an updated tutorial this week and will try and answer as many of these questions as I can.
Nice one Sir 🤲
Please how do I get the overly, like the one you have at the bottom of your screen
Thank you.... Really cool
Very helpful!! Thanks
Glad you found it helpful! Hope my next video is just as helpful! Will upload this weekend :)
thank you!
It is really helpful
Updated tutorial here! ua-cam.com/video/UkQ3UKnHeiA/v-deo.html
Let me start out by saying I am old, so the technology is difficult for me. I have OBS on my desktop, I have DroidCam downloaded on my cell, and I have downlowed the DroidCam extension and I see it in OBS. It is listed in my sources. Now, when I go to the properties though, the screen looks different from what you showed in your video, and it will not allow me to make any changes. I cannot enter my IP address or my port. What must I do to get this to work?
I have an updated tutorial here :)

best man, thank you
Thanks! Glad you found it useful!
Amazing review and good app for such a democratic price
That's what I thought when I first saw the app! Glad you enjoyed the review :)
Hey! Great vid! Which camera does the app use? I've got a Galaxy S21 Ultra with a bunch of them! Also, does it render audio from the phone mic? I'd rather use my dedicated mic. Great job! Thanks!
Well I learned that you can start the client app without audio which is cool. It's using a rear facing camera. Initial impressions are that this blows my trusty C920 HD Pro into oblivion in terms of video quality @1080p. Undetectable lag on WIFI so far but I'll definitely switch to USB for the power supply. Next up - a green screen test! My lighting isn't the best so not expecting miracles there but 'm interested in seeing how well the phone's sensors do. Really glad I found your vid. Subscribed!
Hey! Just saw your comment. I was driving to a doctor's appointment. There is an option to switch between different cameras. On your main screen on the app, you'll see a camera icon with a two way arrow. You can choose the camera that you want to use there (you can even choose your screen I think). As far as a using it will a green screen, it works just like other cameras. Just add the Chroma Key filter to the source in OBS and there you go. However, the lighting will still be just as important as with a normal webcam/camera. Best of luck, and that is for the sub!
Thanks for the info on the camera selection. I'll check it out. I really like to have fun with the green screen (I make my own backgrounds to fit my mood, send a message or for an occasion) but I'm not a streamer so going crazy with studio lighting in my little "office" (spare bedroom) is something I've put off. Actually, I got into OBS for the audio plug-ins and overall audio versatility. I'm just now, ironically, discovering its video capabilities. Go figure.
Thanks for the response! It's nice that you do that.
@@nikkidehart4315 one video about cheap studio lighting coming soon!
@@thesalta72 That would be awesome and most appreciated. Looking forward to it. If you have suggestions for (economically) lighting the green screen too that would be the proverbial icing on the cake! Don't get me wrong. I'm not adverse to spending some money but I have a kind of analysis paralysis going on. So many options to choose from but I really don't have the experience to make confident decisions. That's a compliment to you 👍🏻
Nice video compa!
Thanks, my guy!
Wow, big help..thanks a lot.
Glad you found it helpful!
Yes, very helpful. thank you for this very impormative....how you do your editing video?
more tutorial videos please! :-)
What I do is just record it using OBS in what is effectively one take and then just cut out all of the dead air and just touch it up. Worked good for this video!
Im using usb and i was able to add it to OBS but when Its not showing anything only my normal screen how do i fix this
I have an updated tutorial that you can see here ua-cam.com/video/UkQ3UKnHeiA/v-deo.html

I want to start twitch streaming (Of course, being who I am I have no idea what I'm doing.)
How do you mount the your phone in a good spot to where it won't be too high or low? I'm still getting everything set up and figuring things out with how I want to start streaming.
So, what I've used to mount my phone and cameras in the past is this: smile.amazon.com/dp/B08RYS8YZR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_6NN45K1R4SY2ECA4J4BD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Not a paid link.
Use that with a normal phone clamp, and you'll be golden!
You can also see if there are some kind of phone mount that you can attach to your monitor. But all the one's I've seen are angled too far, or just aren't good for this specific use case.
