I was asked what i was having for Tea, so here it is. Delicious cheese and potato pie.

We used to have cheese mashed potatoes in the 70's , Mum would brown it off under the grill in a pyrex 👍🏻 we had cold beans with ours 😂 we loved it 👍🏻

My gran used to put in pastry never mashed spuds and cubed the cheese but mum did the same as you but again in a pastry not had in years brought back memories

I wouldn't add salt to anything containing 'loads of cheese ' because cheese contains loads of salt, and too much salt is VERY bad for you! 😳

Oh never done it with onions , will have to try onion. I have this often but with spaghetti hoops and a bit of mixed herbs on top of mash 😊 looks yummy ❤

this is defo one of my fav tend to have it as a side dish its nice with a chicken breast with parsley Sause or you can do it as a main with ham mixed in also it was very chill yesterday on live you and nat complement each other very well

Looks great iv give the thumbs up. My favourite was cheese and potato pie with smoked haddock and peas. Just dont put onions or tomatoes with the pie if your having it with the haddock. Im not a big fish lover tbh, but this was one of my favourite meals which i cooled for the family. You can flake up the haddock and put it in the pie, but we preferred it on the side. Try it if you like smoked haddock.

When it comes to mash i always use the powdered stuff.but thought I'd have a go at your recipe. Which is the best spuds to use and how long do you boil them for.

I love cheese and potato pie. When we were cooking the potatoes we used to put the onions in with the potatoes 6:46 and cook them together it was really nice. Then we would mash the potatoes add cheese to them then put it in a dish and put more cheese on the top. It was lovely. X

My X-Wife used to make me Cheese and Potato Pie when I was on afternoon shift and returned home around 10 pm and it was possibly my favourite supper. I have never made it myself in fact I was never 100% sure what was in it, but this has given me a nudge. Thanks. I think she must have put a sprinkling of cheese on top before the Grill cos I seem to remember there was a sort of gooey top.

I first learnt how to make this when I was at school some years ago. We often have it but never thought of adding onions so thanks for the idea will have to try it with onions next time

The beans with the bay is the better way.
I'm glad you didn't think of adding the ol bay to the mash. It would've dominated the flavours of the mash, cheese and onion.
Next time you make this cook up some savoury mince using the ol bay.
You'll have an Old Bay Cottage Pie.

I cooked 2 large fish fingers put them the bottom of a small oven proof dish put baked beans on top then mashed potato with cheese put in air fryer to Brown my husband loved it 😋😋

Keith, how can you call it a pie when there is no pastry at all. A pie should be sweet or savoury filling surrounded by pastry or at least a pastry lid. I’m probably in the minority but shepherd’s pie, fish pie and cottage pie aren’t pies never have been and never will be as far as I’m concerned. For the record though I really do enjoy cheesie mash with tomato, next time I’ll put some onion in as well.
