  • Fancy a roast beef joint for dinner? I cooked this piece of sirloin beef in our Halogen oven and it was very succulent and tasty and not at all tough like it can sometimes be. I then added the potatoes to roast alongside the beef and they tasted fantastic too!

    I followed this. It’s the first time I’ve cooked a joint in the halogen oven. It was beautiful. Thanks.

    Australia. Thanks, Dear, for the tips on the halogen oven. I have used a few over a decade+ whilst single. I've never had clean the built-in oven since - an arduous task. I've never done beef, only chicken and lamb roasts. I have beef and your recipe will guide me. I always forget to "rest" a roast. Thanks again,

    Thank You so much for teaching me how to use this oven. I just ordered mine tonight from Amazon.
    Had to get the Grey to save $20. Over the White one I wanted. But the Food will still be Delicious I am sure. 😊❤️

    My new halogen is lid attached and saves all that caper of lifting it on and off. You do need clearance space above it though. Wouldn't go back to the old type now. It's also digital which means you can go up and down with the heat and timing. More expensive but it did come with a spare bulb and you can also buy spare ones too.

      +Roy Carter Does the lid also detach so the glass bowl can be washed?

    • @railway-share3820
      @railway-share3820 8 років тому +1

      +Marlene McKay The lid is completely separate from the glass bowl. So the bowl can be washed as normal.
      The lid is attached to the hinged part. This is a far better arrangement than having to take the lid off and putting it in a rack on the work surface. They are more expensive, I paid around £50 for mine, but they are definitely worth it.

    • @MMM1801
      @MMM1801 8 років тому

      +Roy Carter Thanks a lot for that as it is a faffing about to place the lid securely as I don't have a thingamajig to rest it on. The other thing I wanted to investigate is the guard around the actual bulb. I wondered if it can be removed to clean it as I am scared to scrub too hard. I am thinking on giving the type you have with the hinged lid as a gift so I really appreciate your reply :)

    That is either exceptionally tough meat or a very dull blade. Sharpen your knives, a dull blade is dangerous.

    thanks for video. i would NEVER put lard on it. Its bad enough for body to have beef much less add dangerous lard! lol rather use anything but that... next time, maybe keep some of the fat on it for natural juice or add water or apple juice or cranberry juice and water and thyme seasoning... was learning how to use mine so thanks for the lesson. Great job and tips

    Haha that beef was so dryyyyyyyy,you need the rack,and water in the bottom...and no oil,lol its defeating the purpose of the multi oven,its purpose is to cut out cooking in oil..

    I just bought a halogen oven and I plan to use it tomorrow for the first time with a 3lb rump roast, but I have some newbie questions. I want to make with zucchini, a big onion, and probably another veggie in the mix. Can I throw the veggies in raw after the first 20 min of cooking the roast (and then I will cook for another hour or so), or should I briefly sautee the veggies first? I have not decided if I'm going to also do potatoes (maybe rice separately since I have eaten potatoes so many times this week!), but I am curious why you cook the potatoes first and not "roast" them from raw. I appreciate any info!

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  8 років тому

      Hi there pz17, it really depends how you like your vegetables, we like our soft so I always cook first. I would therefore sautee the vegetables first so they are soft, but I know many people do just pop them in, so really it is about personal taste! With roast potatoes I have always boiled them so within and inch of their life and then distress them (that is drain the water off and then 'bash' them around the saucepan!!) I do this so that I get lots of crumbly bits that crisp up beautifully, so again personal taste I suppose!! Good luck with your meal!! it's great to experiment so fingers crossed for you!! Jan
