Max is a monster. It's kinda funny that a big slow wrestler ended up being the closest to the glass cannon archetype, though. His vortex sucks enemies in and melts them quickly, but to stay safe, you generally have to use it more frequently than you can recover your health. So if an enemy sneaks an attack in, he'll blow through all your green health and leave you in a bad spot. His damage output makes him fun to use though, and he has a pretty good amount of variety in his movelist (even if you end up using vortex a ton). I like him a lot.
I had a few dumb deaths in this run but it went pretty well overall. It's hard not to get too greedy with the vortex combos and end up losing all your health because of it. （´・ω・｀）

To be honest I still can't get over the fact that the thugs politely wait for our character to regain consciousness at the beginning of stage 2

@@anthonyroy30 You unlock alternative moves by playing Survival mode. Vortex vaccum as shown in this video is Max's alternative special.

That's some insane skill. I only watched level 1. The fact that you're able to do it, without infiniting the bosses, makes it more impressive. I play on the Nintendo Switch. I've tried infiniting bosses, but I can't get it to work. I'm not really sure it works on the Switch. Today, I finally got an S rank on hardest in arcade mode. I typically use Floyd, because he deals out so much damage per strike. After watching this, I may have to learn to use Max properly.

Can someone tell me how to do the neutral jump with Max? Where he jumps and blocks with his elbow to stun the enemy? I've tried all sorts and he doesn't do it.

What's your opinion on rolling grab compared to Shoulder Tackle? I have seen some nasty infinities on rolling grab on some survival videos. I assume you prefer the Shoulder tackle over the grab because it hits many enemies at once and is "technically" a long dash? I'm thinking of switching to rolling grab because I feel like the slide is basically the same as the shoulder tackle.
I didn't try the rolling grab too much, but it did seem pretty good. I went with the tackle because it has plenty of the invincibility, mobility, and because it hits everything in front of you, but I could see the grab being useful as well. But for Mania+, I think the tackle would have the edge because there are so many enemies in some of the fights. I'm not sure though.

is this tool assisted? more than 650 hits and 2 instant lives is too much for my brain to process. So far I have never been able to surpass the old cais stage in mania+ and only with MAX because of his absurd crowd controll skills, but this is too much!

For me It would be better if we could turn off the speech and just have the punches and kicking sound effects. I can see the speech getting annoying. apart from that I love what I’m seeing. I guess there is no sound control of just the voices?

@mitu123Copper One last thing...i think in future they should do a more realistic version with realistic looking streets and characters and go from 2D to 3D. I’d actually prefer that. this still looks real nice though.
@@019208237 Honestly, that would had been awesome, but I see why they went with 2D for this. If they ever do another Streets of Rage game it could have 3D graphics or not but we'll see about that.
I thought that the voice clips would get annoying for a while but honestly it isn’t you just get used to it.
It’s a brilliant creation of what was for me the best game on the megadrive but did they really need to add Max saying power slide each time? why not just a groan like the good ole days lol. I think he used to groan when doing a power slide🤔 it’s been so long I can’t remember.
He doesn't groan when he does a power slide in Streets of Rage 2.

IMO they have over done the voices in this one it’s probably more aimed at the younger generation. to adjust the sound effects of voices would be nice if it’s possible.

What you think about his "Iron Will" star special?
Honestly I never used it besides a quick test in training mode just to see what it was. His lightning special seemed a lot more useful, it does a lot of damage and hits everything on screen, which is great for Mania+ since there can be so many enemies.
@@iconoclast575 yeah, I see. It would seem that his other star special temporarily gives him invincibility. Probably not as useful in multiple enemy situations.
@@darrellbrown8527 The kicker is that enemies can't break your combos (or kill you, for that matter) when Iron Will is active
Iron will is actually really great for muscling through some situations because you can't die. Survival is one of those places to have that star move on deck

Nah, I've still got Roo to clear it with. I'll probably keep going back to it and try out the new attacks with the original characters too. This game has tons of stuff to dig into.

Max being slow is one of his very few weaknesses, and he more than makes up for it in other areas. The dude is an absolute BEAST. He's one of the very best characters in the game, hands-down.
