I stopped wearing jeans about 10 years ago because of friction burns in the inner thighs. Instead, I started to use lycra pants and shin gards. Best upgrade ever!

I’m not a skateboarder but as a roller bladder, long pants/sleeves reduce marks when you take a tumble. Always wore jeans when I would skate, and depending on how I fall, I’ll try to fall on my gloves.

Number 1 is absolutely correct. Pants will protect your shins from shin slaps, razor tail, shit like that. For number 2, not all pants are good for skating and even baggy pants can be too tight at the crotch so make sure to pick a pair that gives you full range.
I found super light weight soccer shin guards that are built into a sleeve that I wear all the time to protect my shins. The guards aren’t solid they are like padded so it doesn’t feel like u have anything on basically. Super helpful and you can’t see it under pants/joggers
