Of course you can make any pedal sound good Andy! But that being said after listening to a ton of demos of this pedal and several others... I just ordered this boost due to price and it's "extras"... the tone control with the Micro amp & EP circuits sound great together... I am sold! Thanks!
EchtellionN Yeah I kinda figured, but that said you look at pedals like Mooer who use those little trimpot-like external knobs to control less important functions, would've made this better. I've seen them on Way Huge pedals as well, which are part of the Dunlop stable so could've been done, IMO.
I completely agree with you. I personally prefer pedals with "assumed" identity and thus fewer, but more influencial knobs. And I don't really like the Mooer line who just aim to produce the smallest and cheapest pedal possible. That trimpot just feels like a unassumed design where they couldn't resolve to "trim" the available functions of the pedal.
OMG this circuit is clean AF. Reminds me of my old Way Huge pedal. No suprise that they have the courage to use internal trimpots. With a build quality like this it's just an another reason to open the pedal :D

Can I add this to my bass rig? I'm leaning towards using this as a boost for choruses. I'm in a 3 piece band and current rig consists of 1) Normal clean sound (Mxr preamp and Compression always on), then hopefully this pedal 2) just for a grittier and bigger sound for choruses and lastly 3) Source audio aftershock for distortion and bridges.. I'm looking at this one or the MXR Micro amp.. Not sure which one to get. I'm using a Boss Odb3 for the chorus but just set as a boost, and I've been meaning to replace it with hopefully this pedal. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Marnus Wessels I know I’m a few months late, but it depends if you need a clean boost or not. For a clean boost I’d suggest the MXR CAE boost, but from experience with the micro amp and this pedal, this one is much better if you need a little more grit. And yes I tested it with bass too so it works great 😉
@@ProGuitarShopDemos Man I really like the sound of this amp also the mxr booster is a good fit for this amp. Do you remember the yr model of the Fender Deluxe Reverb RI? Was it the 65 deluxe 22 watt 1x12 ? Nice playing too! Thanks again.
Sounded kinda farty throughout the end with humbuckers. Pretty good on single coils though, especially that p90s. I wonder how would this compared to EP Booster, anyone?
It's basically an EP booster, and a micro amp in one. Think Jimmy Page & John Frusciante in one pedal. The Micro Amp is one of John's tricks, the echoplex was Jimmy's.
Andy, I was thinking to buy this pedal so to boost my normal overdrive sound, coming from a Wampler Paisley Deluxe, into a clean amp. I want to use it after the Wampler, but I need a booster with a small footprint (like the MXR booster Mini) and I really would want to have the possibility to color the sound and to add a bit of mids for some solo settings. My question: is this the pedal I'm looking for, since the tone knob doesn't seem to be a tone knob at all?
Hello Andy, with the volumeknob set all the way to the left i still got a quiet amount of boostlevel. the volume at 5 is plenty enough. Turning further clockwise is far to loud. The internal trimpot is at 25%. Never had this with other boostpedals. Is this normal? Greetz, Harry.

God damn. That had to be one of the best tones you've ever gotten..... and your tones are always f'ing awesome.
I need a poster of Andy on my wall.
Thanx for showing this with the Reverend P90's....I needed to hear EXACTLY that!!
Nice enough booster, not sure about the internal trimpot though. Seems like having a knob for that function would make it much more versatile.
Can't put three knobs on those tiny battery-less enclosures :-/

You haven't seen the Mini Tube Screamer or AD or Chorus or Fuzz or Super Metal from Ibanez? Or the TC Electronic Flashback Mini? Or or or .....
Johannes Labusch i have the tubescreamer mini
Hell yeah some CCR 🤘Keep on rockin', Andy from Pro Guitar Shop

They should have just made this in a normal sized enclosure and stuck the gain control for the Echoplex preamp outside.
Figured it out. The internal trimpot at 0 and your volume will work as usual. Just a hint of echoplex will do for me.
so you can dial out the ep completely and just use this like a neutral micro amp?
Will it boost my talent too?

Trim pot conveniently located inside. I hate when companies do that. Make room on the outside or don't put it in
I agree. They should at least put a hole on top for screw access through it. Annoying still, but better than opening the bottom cover.
Actually, that's a good idea. I'll order a metal drill bit along with mine.

So will this thing push a 100 watt cabinet?
This is a preamp boost not a power amp. The question is whether your amp can push a 100w cab :)
What is your rig setup for this demo? Thanks
The rig was usually whatever pedal directly into a Fender Deluxe Reverb RI, mic'd with a Royer R-121.

can the echoplex be dialed out? i only want the micro amp side.
